Walls paper thin, neighbors super loud, took hours to get an extra blanket, pillows and bedding were crappy thin small and lumpy, we will absolutely never stay here again. We left 2 days early because we hated this hotel so much. They offered to reduce our rate and give us 15k points if we stayed for the rest of our vacation, but we opted for a more expensive hotel closer to Williamsburg in order to avoid having to stay at this hotel one more minute. . Also, just a tip: if you are thinking of staying at this hotel because you want to save money on a Williamsburg hotel, think twice. The traffic on 64 from Williamsburg on a Saturday afternoon made this a 45 minute trip from Busch Gardens. It was too far and absolutely not worth it due to the absolute poor quality of the hotel. Don't say I didn't warn you. read more

All that really needs to be said is... IT IS TIME FOR THE ROOMS TO BE RENOVATED! The lobby and meeting rooms have been renovated but the sleeping rooms are ridiculous! They aren't just dated...they are run down! The carpet is through! The walls are torn up. Our room has hooks in the wall where artwork used to be. When I advised the front desk that we'd be checking out after one night and not staying the full four, they didn't even bother to ask why. Just said okay. I'm laughing all the way to the Embassy Suites down the street! read more

The customer service at this place is not pleasant at alllll! The green haired receptionist, was rude upon my arrival. After my boyfriend booked a room here and tried explaining to the women that our son wrongly booked a room for the previous night and we never even stayed in the room, so could we get our money back, she responded with a attitude saying things like " well u did stay here" then "oh u need to call them" (who I booked through) and the cherry on top was when she said "well u payed once u booked it" when I even ended up showing her a confirmation email I received showing that my card was charged a 0.00 booking fee she still refused to give me any of my money back, even though my bf was paying for the correct room on the correct day. And then once we got to the room he booked for the correct night, it was DISGUSTING! There were white stains on the couch, tv was left on, and the lights were left on as well! I was very angry at this point as anyone should be! Moral of the story is DONT BOOK THIS HOTEL! NOT WORTH THE HYPE! read more

2.5 stars max. The hotel seems new'ish, my room was clean, and check in was quick and easy. The staff seemed nice but I really didn't have any interaction with them beyond check in. The hotel is conveniently However, if your looking for one of the higher end Marriott chain hotels.... This is not one of them. Better than Motel 8, or a standard just off the highway hotel..... But not fancy or luxurious. Just basic. No restaurant / bar / Starbucks in this hotel, but there are places to eat a short drive away. There is pay-per view movies in the room, which is always good. The selection was so-so, mostly movies that you can get at home on "on demand". Adequate hotel for a quick business trip. Look somewhere else if your looking to be pampered or trying to make an impression on that special someone. read more

This hotel has more broken features than working features and the staff makes no apologies or efforts to make amends. The stars are only for the pleasant room space. Pros: Nice spacious room and comfy furniture. Little kitchenette was perfect for a business traveler on a few nights stay. Front desk staff and morning breakfast staff was welcoming and friendly. Bathroom vanity was nice with plenty of space. Cons: Hot tub didn't work, pool looked filthy, TV didn't work (simply no power) and despite my daily reports of this I did not have a working TV until my 3rd night, A/C sounded like a small jet engine every time it kicked on, noisy bathroom fan ran constantly and there was no switch to turn it off, no room service (the pizza flyer in the hotel guest guide had a non working phone). Disappointed there wasn't better customer service to respond to the issues with non-working items and no attempt to make amends for broken amenities that are expected and even promoted on the hotel website. They never even apologized for the fact that so many expected/advertised hotel features were dysfunctional! And, yes, there were a few carpet stains that I would not consider significant enough to complain about on yelp, but when aggregated with the broken hot tub, filthy pool, broken tv, noisy room, broken room service, and lack of management concern for customer satisfaction; I'm complaining about the carpet stains too! I will find another hotel for my next trip. read more

The hotel: It is a Marriott property. So I have no qualms about it (and I am a Marriott Rewards member). I usually stay here if I attend an event nearby which is usually at the Hampton Coliseum. Customer Service: This is where it gets fuzzy. My recent visit here was one that left a lot to be desired. I arrived right around 3:30 when check-in begins. I stood at the desk waiting for a representative to assist me. No one was available. About 7 minutes into the wait, a lady came from somewhere and asked if I was being helped. I said not yet. She went behind a wall and said to someone else that I was out there waiting. What emerged from behind that wall was my biggest issue. The woman named Shalonda, LaShonda, Shawonda, La-Sha-something, came out chewing, with mayo on the side of her mouth. She asked for the norm, name, ID, and credit card. Once I was checked in; she failed to mention my room number and just handed me the room keys. Luckily for me, the room number was written inside the paper jacket. She proceeded back behind the wall, I guess to finish her mayonnaise filled meal. read more

Worst stay at a SpringHill Suites. Why was it the worst stay I've had you ask? It's because when I walked in to my room, I was greeted by a water leak near my window, and it's clear that it's been there awhile and someone tried to half-heartedly fix it. When I brought this to the attention to the desk clerk, she called up someone from maintenance who said that they couldn't do anything about it until morning, so all he did was put towels down. I asked about switching rooms, and she said that they were completely booked up and that the best she could do is offer me a complimentary soda. After leaving the hotel for the day and coming back at night, it was obvious that maintenance did absolutely nothing because there was no indication that any exploratory work had been done to see why it was leaking. Apparently this leak was caused by the rain, since there was no more water dripping in the morning after it had stopped raining, and I guess that maintenance came in and saw no leak, so they left without doing anything. The breakfast here was mediocre, nothing exciting or interesting, and the staff was always missing when the coffee ran out. Will definitely exhaust my options before rebooking here. read more

This hotel did have a few good points, but not too many. It was reasonably clean, and the staff was fairly friendly. The room was an OK size, nothing special. One key design flaw- don't install a towel bar in front of the sink. Being a guy, trying to lean over the sink and put my contacts in, the location of the towel bar was awkward and if you're not careful, could be quite painful. Soundproofing could be greatly improved- you could hear the adjacent rooms clearly, and could everything in the corridor. Every time someone shut a door, it sounded like it was coming from your hotel room. And lastly, the free breakfast was just plain bad- cold scrambled eggs from a box, some brown looking mush stuff, grits, stale bagels/muffins, and frozen butter. Breakfast can be saved however- the Cracker Barrel is within walking distance! read more

Writing this review while I am still here because that is just how bad it is. Much like everyone else's review... THE ROOMS ARE HORRIBLE! !! The bed is soft... but sheets are itchy and so wrinkled it looks like someone just climbed out of it before me. The couch is absolutely filthy. The carpet... not only do they not vacuum. .. they apparently did not bother to EVER shampoo. Come on!!! My question for them... Would you stay at this hotel yourself? ??!!!! The blankets and towels all need to be replaced as they are extremely hard and run down. Asked for a new blanket as the one from the closet was so hard it was stuck in permanent fold!!! The replacement. .. just as bad. Needless to say... as I lay in this bed... scared to let body touch the sheets... I HAVE MADE RESERVATIONS FOR ANOTHER HOTEL AND WILL BE CHECKING OUT A DAY EARLY! Only staying tonight because kids have fallen asleep. Uuuggghhh read more

Absolutely some of the kindest and most genuine staff you might encounter! Let me first say- there has definitely been some renovations to the property- because I did not experience any of the issues previous reviewers had with the accommodations. What really gets this 5 star review though is your Guest Services Rep, Lisa. I recently booked for a 2 night stay, and day of check in- I knew I wasn't going to make it to the hotel for the first night. Not wanting to lose my room for both nights, I called and got a chance to speak with Lisa. Lisa made sure to make a note in my reservation so that I wouldn't lose my second night- and actually secured me a specific room with floor preference! The next day, I was about 20mi out from the hotel and the battery light in my car came on (last thing you want to have happen 200mi away from home!). Thankfully I made it to the hotel, and guess who greeted me at reception? That's right, Lisa! She was just as warm in person as she was over the phone and got me checked in quickly so that I could try to go get my car serviced. She was so calming and also made sure I knew where the closest shops were. Unfortunately when I got back out to my car- it would not start- and as I'm scrolling through google for tow service, I hear a car beep and look up to see none other than Lisa pulling up along side my car! Despite her either being off for the day or headed on her much deserved break- she stopped, addressed me by name- and tried to help! Though a jump didn't work (did I mention she let me try to jump my car off her own??) she made sure I had a tow service on the way, and even offered me a ride if I needed one! The type of care and concern that Lisa showed was simply above and beyond. This property is so fortunate to have her as a representative of their brand! Thank you, Lisa, for being so amazing, and truly caring about the well being of your patrons! read more

This is our family's second stay at SpringHill Suites. The rooms have been clean and comfortable and we have always gotten a competitive rate. However, what is important to note is the fantastic customer service from the staff. Everyone from the front desk to house keeping are more than accommodating, respectful, and very willing to make your stay feel comfortable especially with these COVID-19 rules in place. I even mentioned to my wife that the service was sometime better than some 5 start hotels I have stayed. Will definitely stay here again. read more

The people at the hotel were nice but the hotel was not. We were in Virginia for it grandfather's funeral and once we arrived in the room (203) it's smelled like a mix of cigarettes and weed. Once we left, we noticed there was also a condom wrapper under the bed. I will never bring my child and my wife there again. read more

The pool was foggy, the staff did not feel welcoming, every time we got back to the hotel, there were one or two outside smoking a cigarette. The rooms were good, but mine had a broken towel bar. Some of the carts wheels are hard to operate. read more

It's rare that I leave a 1-star review; but, this hotel warrants it. Note: I had to choose this hotel due to the military travel system (DTS)--SpringHill offers a rate lower than the government per diem rate. To address the high note first--the front desk staff is attentive and friendly. Beyond that, good luck. The rooms appear clean, bright, and freshly remodeled. Upon closer look, this is all cosmetic. It was not until the first night that both my coworker and I were awakened in both of our rooms with the screeching howl of the AC coming on, roughly every 45 minutes to an hour. Mine sounded like an air raid siren, his like a screaming banshee. If I could attach video to this review, I would. I attempted to turn the temperature up high enough to keep the system from kicking on; but, it was unresponsive. The next morning, both he and I requested to change rooms. (He also noted that his room window was directly under one of their outdoor, decorative lights that shines straight up and into his window--much like Kenny's chicken did to Kramer in Seinfeld). They were able to accommodate and moved both of us into new rooms. This time, though my AC was better, I got the bright light treatment at night. The water pressure in both of the rooms I tried was barely stronger than a drizzle and the morning breakfast featured moldy strawberries and powdered eggs. Glad to have per diem, at least, to hit Starbucks down the road. The final insult of my stay at SpringHill was that I noticed as I was preparing to depart and charge my headphones and battery bank for the long flight back, both had been taken from my bag in my room. My second, spare pair of headphones had been moved from my carry-on to an odd spot in my main bag. As I travel frequently, I'm meticulous about keeping things in the same place every time I travel. When I reported the loss to the reception desk at check-out, she filled out some sort of report and said a manager would be in touch (which they have not). Additional notes: my room WiFi connection did not work without a provider call and work-around, the walls were paper thin throughout the hotel, and the room refrigerator appeared not to cool food at all, despite temp adjustment. So, all in all, this was a definite low point in work-related travel for me. If you have any other options in the area--such as the hotel across the parking lot--I advise you to use them instead. read more

Nice hotel even for my short stay. Room was clean and all. My only issue was with their "outside residents". I went out at night to grab something from my car and was immediately met with a dozen or so MASSIVE cockroaches running along the sidewalk right outside the back/side door. Turned back around to go out the front doors to walk around to the back parking lot where I was then met with more in the parking lot plus several of the giant roaches crawling on cars. I jumped into mine and parked elsewhere in the front lot. Maybe it's just the back parking lot at night, but I don't want to stay anywhere with these things merely outside the door. A few of them can slip in and be in the rooms/building if they're not already... read more

I loved this SpringHill, in part because it has something most SpringHills don't: character. It didn't look like its brethren, it looked like a nice, upscale hotel with hip, modern decor. The furnishings in the rooms are stylish and colorful, the carpet isn't gross hotel carpet, you won't see any busy floral prints, and the beds and pillows are particularly comfortable. The exercise room and pool are well-maintained. The wireless internet is the fastest internet I've ever had the pleasure of using in a hotel, fast enough that during the week I was there I streamed half a season of Lost in high definition from ABC's website with no problems. This may have something to do with the fact that it is a new hotel and had hardly any guests, but for whatever reason the internet was on par with what I have at home. Breakfast was ok, only worth it because it's free (or already paid for, depending on how you look at it) and typical of a Marriott. So why only 4 stars? Soundproofing. As in this hotel has none. If the neighbors opened their door, it sounded almost as if someone were opening my door. I could hear conversations in the hallway, I think I heard a woman, um, moaning one night, and from my bathroom I could hear whatever they were saying in the next room. Luckily the hotel was pretty empty so it didn't matter much. However, if you're a light sleeper you might want to pack earplugs or go somewhere else. Personally, if I ever have the misfortune of having to go back to Hampton, I will make a point of coming back to this SpringHill. read more

The reception area is clean and the staff were friendly when we arrived. At a glance our room seemed fine. Upon closer inspection there were visible stains on the carpet. On our first night I was ready to watch Scandal when suddenly the cable goes out. A maintenance man who did not appear to specialize in electronics, or anything else for that matter, came and turned the TV off and on about 20 times, then jiggled the cable intermittently. He eventually gave up. He was very friendly and kind enough to request that we be moved to the room across the hall. Well, the carpet in that room was even more of a mess. We checked out early the next morning. Get it together Springhill. read more

We stayed here one night and both my wife and I ended up with very sore backs. The mattresses were saggy and soft on both queen beds. Staff was friendly. The room was spare but clean, but the bed was a killer. Two days later and I'm still taking Flexeril. read more

yikes : the person booking our rooms for an event in Norfolk accidentally booked the rooms at this hotel in Hampton instead of the one in Norfolk. Found out the mistake on arrival and so too late to change. Filthy rooms : Housecleaning apparently forgot that when cleaning a room, one needs to clean the smudges off tables and counters or that they shouldn't overlook the red and brown stuff on the floor around the commode. Brown and black smudges and stains everywhere from counter tops, tables, carpet, walls, doors to curtains !!! The toilet paper rolls are at least 2 feet off from the commode diagonally ! linen and towels thin , as are the walls. The bed , however, was comfortable for the one night that I stayed there. The room has avocado modernist type sofa and wallpaper ( from the 60's?) with mismatched cushions of various non-complimentary colors. Seems like it was decorated with spare furniture and art bought from Home Goods or Michaels. Never again any Springhill suites ever !!! read more

Workout room: Great selection of machines, and much roomier than many hotels have - but the water jug and half of the dumbbells were missing, and there were no sanitary wipes for wiping down the machines. The water jug was especially annoying, as it had been removed and not replaced - so it wasn't just that it had been emptied the night before and they hadn't noticed yet. The room needed maintenance - the door on the controls for the air conditioner was broken and just sitting on top, and one of the dials on the clock radio was missing. The room seemed like it was trying to be a physically-challenged/accessible room (which I don't need now, but have in the past), but failed. The space between one of the beds and the dresser was a tight squeeze without a wheelchair or crutches, and the toilet paper was across the bathroom from the toilet. The curtains were nice blackout curtains, but without the second layer of translucent curtains that many hotels have, the tiny gap between them let in more light and reduced privacy. Breakfast was meh, but at least included. All of the yogurt they had when I got there had aspertame in it, so not for me. The line for the waffle makers, which take about three minutes each, was more than ten people long. I'd rather have a stack of pre-made waffles. The cream-cheese was a no-name brand, and they only had the full-fat version. Most Marriotts I've been in lately have had Philadelphia, including low-fat cream cheese; they usually have toppings other than no-name syrup for the waffles; they generally have yogurt without aspertame. Not this one. The grits were OK though. Wifi on the fourth floor had a lousy connection, gaining and losing connection during the night. They need to install a repeater or do a channel survey. It had the feeling of what could have been a decent hotel - it was so close, but the things that were wrong were striking. read more

Room was nicely decorated and the bed was very comfortable. Wifi Internet was awful at 0.75Mbps download. The halogen vanity lights take time to warm up enough to be useful. I travel a lot and stay in a lot of hotels. The best thing about this hotel is the staff! They are completely loving kind fun attentive Etc! The breakfast is ready everyday bye an awesome staff loving staff Pepe staff! However the food needs to be changed out more often they need variations for us people that stay for more than 3 or 4 days. I found the hotel itself to not be clean enough in the lobby there's grease marks on the chairs stains on the carpet it just wasn't very clean and maintenance needs to take care of a lot of stuff it pains me to say this because I absolutely love the staff here. I want to come back in December and stay. But the rooms need to be painted they need to be more kept up and clean.... the couch in my room with stained in quite nasty. I had my grandson with me so I felt like I need to clean it myself and then spray it with Lysol this is unacceptable to me. But it goes without saying that I would totally return if they revamped the rooms a bit because the staff is exceptional and they take really good care of you! I want to thank all of you and you know who you are that took really good care of me and my grandson read more

I am very disappointed in the service that I received while staying at Marriott SpringHill Suites. It is my understanding that The Marriott is supposed to be the leading hotel when it comes to hospitality...I have YET to see this. SOME of the workers don't speak when they see guests and we were here for 4 nights and our room was not cleaned at all for 2 of the 4 nights. This is unacceptable. They served the same food every morning for breakfast and it seemed like the breakfast was decent on day one of our stay but the following day it was the same and it got worse, so we didn't take a chance on day 3 or day 4. I have never stayed at a Marriott hotel before and I am sure I won't be staying at another one again. They always say 1st impressions are lasting impressions and they have definitely left a negative impression on me. Take heed when staying at a lower end Marriott hotel...the service is low end too! read more

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Great size room, clean, and quiet. I didn't get to try the breakfast, but I did use the business center to print a few copies - at no extra charge. Friendly staff and great parking. I also loved how the TV came programmed with Hulu, Netflix, etc. You just need your own login credentials. Despite the reviews, I'd stay here again. read more

The staff was friendly and the check in and out were very smooth. The walls are thin. I could hear every word the woman above me was saying. (at 2am) The gap under the doors is 1.25 inches which let's a lot of sound in from the hallway. The furniture was extremely cheep and not at all comfortable. The layout of the rooms are decent. The TV is viewable from the bed and the sofa area which was nice. The hvac system worked very well and had a digital thermostat to control the temperature was always comfortable. The layout of the bathroom is horrible. Very little natural light was available in the bathroom area. The toilet paper dispenser is way to far from the toilet. I am 6'1" and my cheeks had to come off the seat to reach the toilet paper. The toilet paper was half gone when I got there. The free toiletries were cheap and smelled like cleaning products. The room had blood on the wall and did not feel extremely clean. The bed appeared clean and was comfortable. The restroom was clean. This place is not a dump at all but it's definitely not anything to be impressed with. read more

My friends and I every year come down to this hotel because of a local show that we go to see. Overall it's not that bad. I wouldn't say that is a five star Hotel but it will do for a few days only . There was one gentleman at the front desk that's did everything in his power to accommodate us from extra towels too early check-in and so on. He was a pleasure. But the other front desk staff was very nasty and didn't want to help or be bothered. I called downstairs to the front desk to ask for extra pillows and this nasty lady told me to come down and get it. I heard a rumor that the cleaning ladies steal people stuff but I'm not too sure it never happened to me. What's cool is that every morning is free breakfast there's really not a great selection but there's bagels rolls eggs muffins yogurt and this year it seems like they added a waffle maker. The ATM was out of service. The carpets were a little stained and the table desk light didn't work. There is also a 24 Hour Business Ctr. where you could go online and print for free which is cool. Also throughout the whole hotel there is free Wi-Fi which is also a great plus. Overall I would say it will do for only a few nights but if you're staying for a business trip or more than a week I would find something better. read more

The place is clean and comfortable. Not the worst, not the nicest but ok. Friendly service though our experience was a comedy of errors which may also be a hint for the owner/manager to address. When we checked in we were giving keys that opened the door to a room that already had guests in it! A surprise for both families. We get another room and unfortunately the AC didn't work and the maintenance man came up and said it was broke so they moved us yet to another room. A handicap room, where everything is very low for easy accessibility for folks in wheel chairs, well, I'm 6'2. If you are looking for an ok place, this is it. Breakfast is adequate. read more

Horrible. Loud party next door with cursing and smoking (thick smell in hallway) until wee hours of the morning.
