    Attended the train expo.

Really awesome art work and presentation in the hallways. I was there for an event but had the pleasure of viewing the photographs, artwork, and displays in the hallways. Very impressive and like the local Vibe and feel as well.

Definitely a really nice convention center. When you think about others, it may not be as luxurious, but this was a smart investment for the area. Was lucky enough to be in the hotel next door, as there could be more parking spots. It's a guess but if this and the nearby Coliseum have events, that will make getting in an absolute challenge. Your best bet is to stay next door, or at other hotels within walking distance. The ballroom is huge. Also it has fairly comfortable tables and chairs. Am not sure what total room capacity is, but large organizations will like this. As for the smaller rooms, these offer a spot too. Definitely be ready to walk. There were a lot of footsteps everyday, which for me is a healthy thing.

Super cool convention center! It was my first visit to Hampton to run the Crawling Crab Half Marathon and the health and wellness expo was held here. The convention center does not look very old - the building is modern and there is ample parking around the site (shares it with the coliseum). The very first thing you will probably notice about the convention center is the unique roof structure they chose at their front door. The structural fabric not only makes the structure unique looking, but very functional as well (a covered area for driving up and picking up people). I was fascinated by the cables and anchors that are massive and placed in front - no roping off or anything, so you can go right up and touch the hardware. There is a beautiful fountain in front of the convention center and some pretty cool "photo op" spots. One of the fountains have a small walkway on it so you can be inches away from a shallow pool of water. Inside, the space is clean and modern with lots of artwork on the walls and plenty of seating - it reminded me of a small airport (minus all the security). Overall a very beautiful space. The exhibit hall were the expo was held was cavernous and I can see various other events being held in the space. Hampton is very lucky to have this convention center - someone was obviously planning correctly when they placed/designed this structure.

Great location for events. Staff and security are polite and they do a great job at keeping it clean during busy events such as the volleyball tournament I attended in Jan 2018. A bonus for my family is that they allowed us to park our RV in the parking lot for the weekend. We were respectful by leaving no trace to be sure the privilege would not be lost for future campers. The only gripe I have that I would not let affect my 5 star is the fact they use embassy suites for their food vendor and their coffee is like drinking river water. The concession stand also charges $1.00 for each swipe of a debit or credit card. For a $2 cup of coffee this is high so I avoided all concessions.

We came here today for a train show. The facility was easy to drive to, there were plenty parking spaces, and it was beautifully decorated inside. We never went upstairs, but there were ballrooms and more space for events. The employees were very friendly. Inside the train event room, they had concessions they were reasonably priced. I'm definitely looking to attend more here at the convention center.

Came here for work conference. Overall, the outside of the building is gorgeous with water fountains. Inside of the building is well maintained. Gorgeous layout. Someone is always cleaning the building as we were there. Spacious and well functioning elevators. Conference rooms are modern and well maintained.

Close up of the Hampton Roads Convention Center.

Hampton Roads Convention Center looks like an unique work of art and is strategically located across the street from the Hampton Coliseum. A beautiful water feature and fountain welcomes you in front of the building. Event parking is available on either side of the building. Several hotels are in close proximity.

Hosted an event here. It went pretty well. Nice big rooms, very clean, very friendly staff, and VERY fast internet. The lighting system in the rooms is a bit goofy and could use some attention. Otherwise, would return to host again.

Country Inn and Suites…read more EXERCISE ALL PRECAUTIONS WITH THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!!!! If you have any respiratory issues, take extreme precautions if you are considering staying here. The facade of manicured groundskeeping does give the impression of a decent place to stay. However, once inside, there's a truth of why I was compelled to not stay there. I booked the stay through Expedia. My reservation was scheduled for 7/23 - 7/26. None of the pictures in the app show the reality of what the rest of the hotel looks like. I arrived at the hotel 7/23 to check in. Upon the entrance of the lobby, there was a reception desk to the far left where they are stationed. Behind the desk, there is a wall on the left that has a noticeable water stain around it at the time I was checking in. The check-in process seemed okay. The manager Tracy checked me in, handed me the keys, and advised me how to access the side door number 2 to bring in my luggage. I get a porter to gather my luggage and walk through the hotel's first floor to the side door. The corridor to the side door is to the left of the lobby desk where I checked in. Once in that short corridor, you take a left to go through the hallway to get to the side door 2. Along the way, water stains on the ceiling are prevalent with irregular patches of smooth plastering and popcorn ceiling right to the door. Both finishes were stained. There was a sprinkler that had a square hole about four inches on each side cut out in the ceiling. My skin was crawling. With the help of my cousin, I get my luggage loaded on the porter, I go back inside to go up to my room on the third floor by the elevator. Upon exiting the elevator, there's a faint musty smell in the hallway. For the segment of the hallway where my room was located there are prevalent water stains on the third floor ceiling that ran from the elevator and extended beyond my room. As soon as I opened the door my room, the musty smell in the hallway was concentrated in my assigned room. It was rank of dampness and humidity. The smell stopped me at the door. I looked back at my cousin who said, "Ain't no way." I struggled to step further into the room but did go in. The back of my throat was gagging because the smell was so repulsive. There was a sofa in the room that looked like it was picked up off the side of the road, post rain storm as it has noticeable water stains on it as well as can be seen in the pictures. I sit down on a chair that is not upholstered to call Expedia. I told them that it was not possible to sleep in that room and that I had strong concerns for my health with the condition of the hotel. I was told that the matter would be escalated and to expect to hear something by the following Monday. I had not unloaded a single thing, make my way out of the room but not before taking more pictures of the hallways. I went back to the front desk where the manager, Tracy, that checked me in was no longer there. A Lala was there and took the keys back that was witnessed by my cousin. I requested that the manager be contacted to reach out to me. Never happened. I find accommodations elsewhere. Having been told the manager would be back Saturday, 7/25, I reach back out to the hotel. She was not there. Spoke at length with another front desk clerk that went on with excuses for the condition of the hotel. I requested the manager be contacted to reach out to me. Never happened. Monday, I reach back out to Expedia about the status of the escalation to get a refund to which I was told there was none. This agent does follow through with filing an escalation on which I did receive an email on 7/29 confirming an escalation was being reviewed for resolution. I do take it upon myself to contact the hotel and finally reach Tracy, 7/31. She told me that she'd never gotten any communications from Expedia whatsoever. I circle back to Expedia 7/30 about the escalation. I tell them of Tracy saying that she never received any communication from Expedia. Expedia calls the hotel, speaks with Tracy, and Tracy declines to give a refund for a stay that never happened. I reached out to Tracy to get the correct spelling of her name to include in these glowing reviews of the quality of service, integrity, and condition of the hotel of which she was made aware. Her tone was an arrogant apathy as she has my money. She not once apologized nor offered ANY compensation of an adjustment much less a refund. Please, use discernment when selecting a hotel through Expedia and the Country Inn and Suites located at 1917 Coliseum Drive, Hampton, VA 23666.

Could you imagine if it was an emergency and medical personal were not able to enter? Regardless, there was no apology for the delay, and then there was a 20 minute delay when the front desk employee did show up. They said 'they were just put in that position without any training' and essentially they had no idea what they were doing. When I finally was able to get to my room, it was a one bedroom suite when I had booked at two bedroom suite, but I was far too tired after a flight delay to deal with it. To the hotel itself, let the sign marquee be an indicator. If a hotel doesn't have the pride to make sure those lights are working, just imagine how it is in the inside. Both the pool and whirlpool were unavailable due to maintenance without advanced notice. The towels were disgusting with stains as were the floors in the room. This hotel charges for parking even though it's not in a downtown location and not near a major convenience like an airport. Nickel and dime all day! I finally heard back two days after I sent an email to the managers and got the standard "we'll make this right" without doing anything besides reviewing their training or whatever. By far worst Marriott experience in over 100+ stays.

The electric circuit behind the refrigerator and microwave was completely blown and didn't work. There was an orange extension cord to an outlet on another wall that kept the refrigerator running. Every single one of them, regardless of the shirt they were on or the time of day, was super friendly and helpful. They really made up for everything else. Great staff!
