We stayed at the SpringHill Suites for a mini getaway to Austin and we were thoroughly pleased. We booked the hotel en route to Austin which made for a very reasonable rate. What we loved about the hotel: cleanliness of hotel, kind/helpful staff, soft beds, and continental breakfast each morning. This hotel is also centrally located for the most part and makes for easy access to the Domain area. There are several restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and shopping centers. Parking is also free so another perk! Taking a Lyft/Uber to go "outside" was around 10-15 dollars which is not bad at all. The Boat crawfish & seafood restaurant is located directly across the street and it can get slightly loud during the night, not a big deal if you're already sleeping though lol. They have a bar with HH each evening, however when we went down the bartender was not there yet. This was okay too because we left and enjoyed a nearby place. Overall, I'd recommend this hotel and we would stay here again. Check them out. read more

Pros - price, Bonvoy property, breakfast, kitchenette in room, friendly staff and nice clean lobby. Cons - wall unit AC on and off all night, weak shower water pressure, lumpy bed, light from hallway coming under room door all night long, loud altercation in parking lot around 3am. If I had it to do over, I would pay 50 a night more (or more) and move across the highway to something on the domain property, where we were meeting family for dinner. I've stayed at other Springhills that were much better/nicer (Garrison NY) but sadly this was not one of them. read more

I stayed at the SpringHills Suite Austin Northwest/The Domain by Marriott for the long weekend - I wanted to relax; however, after a long day of site seeing I came back to my hotel room and found multiple bugs crawling in my room (you can see the dead bugs in the towel pictures I attached). Horrible service and management. Inquired about bringing our group of 110 nights to this hotel for our sports camp. The manager Michael was apathetic and lacked any desire to invite our group to their property. Meanwhile hotels are at ~30% occupancy, hurting for business, and eager to have guests. He insulted me giving us a rate $7 over the rate you can get on Marriott and any third party booking site. Then I pointed it out to him and he comes back to me with the same rate offered anywhere else. Thus, absolutely no incentive to bring our business to him. He had the audacity to usher me along and abruptly end the phone call. A complete jerk and I would never recommend staying here. Marriott corporate should look into this hotel and get new staff that know what working in the hospitality industry entails. read more

Being rewards members, we stay at a lot of Marriott hotels. This was by far the most subpar experience encountered. The location was nice, staff was pretty friendly, but overall too many things added up to where it was not a very comfortable stay and we would not frequent here again if in the area. We used a free night certificate from earning reward points so thankfully did not pay for the stay...if we had, definitely would feel more remorseful. Major issues: The pillows were absolutely terrible. They felt like crumpled newspaper and I woke up with a stiff neck because they just completely had no fluff...was like using no pillow at all. Woke up several times through the night. I know this wasn't an isolated issue because we knew several people who stayed the same night and had the same complaints. The sleeper sofa was so incredibly old and inverted...time to upgrade please. The brown blanket in spare sleeper sheets was dirty. The couch had stains and an old toy in it, in addition to the carpets having multiple stains...especially a large brown one on floor near left side of couch. Additionally, once you pulled out the sofa, there was a lot of large trash on the floor you could see. This Marriot just felt older and less kept than others. However, we always do a mattress check for creepy crawlers and it checked out. Other issues: I always ask for extra towels and indicate how many are staying in the room (5)...so why were there only 3 sets of towels? Everybody needs to shower. Had to request more, in addition to trash bags because all trashes were empty. TV located in weird location so the far bed closest to the window could not really see it and only 1 TV...most rooms in other marriots have 2 TVs but not a huge deal. Typical free buffet breakfast but fruit was a little old (spots on bananas) and no boiled eggs offered...I have a lot of food allergies so this is what I usually eat. I had to purchase breakfast somewhere else. Gave one star because I like the location. An extra star because the lady at the front was helpful....If YELP allowed half stars, I'd probably lean closer to 1.5 stars. read more

I didn't really have amazingly high hopes for this hotel based on the middle-of-the-road reviews; however, it was in a convenient location to where we would be, and knowing that we needed multiple rooms, the $75/night price was right. Rooms and bathrooms were spacious and clean (including sheets and towels). The free breakfast, while the same both mornings, was fine. Eggs tasted real, rather than powdered, which was nice...and any hotel breakfast that includes Texas-shaped waffles is always a plus. Coffee was always full and hot. What passes as the hotel bar is literally right near the front entrance, so that area was really loud both nights. Luckily our room wasn't nearby. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again the next time we're in Austin. read more

While my actual room yesterday was great.. The lack of customer service at the front desk and the intrusive housekeeping def made my stay less than relaxing. I walk in to the front desk and the woman working doesn't welcome me or anything and instead just tells me that she needs my I.D. credit card. While waiting for her to actually acknowledge me (she didn't) I see that she is dressed not so professional (some character sweater) and her name tag is pinned upside down.. I'm thinking her name is Raschelle?.. From what I could get from the upside down name tag.. Then being in my room less than 2 hrs.. Around 6pm.. For some reason housekeeping decides to check on my room.. She literally knocks softly and immediately opens the door as I'm dressing.. By far the worse wifi I've had at a Marriott. It is so bad that I cannot get any work done or connect. I'm so disappointed in a work hotel like springhill and will be telling my colleagues. We travel here frequently. I would pay for faster internet but they don't have that option. read more

We had to make an unexpected overnight trip to Austin, so we needed a hotel room. We liked the area near the Domain so that's where our search began! We were so lucky to have found the Springhill Suites near the Domain. From the time we walked in the door, until we left EVERYONE was very nice, pleasant, and welcoming. We were looking for a place to stay for my niece's graduation from UT and of course being a last minute type I started calling a few days before and could not find anything in town! I later found out that my brother was planning on having a dinner for my niece at the Maggiano's in the Domain so I at the last minute decided to call a Springhill Suites in the area and lo and behold found a room that was a reasonable rate with 2 beds and a sofa bed. We were big fans of Residence Inn but had never stayed in a Springhill Suites and was pleasantly surprised when we arrived! Contemporary and modern in design the front desk staff was friendly and helpful! Our room was away from the freeway and very clean and quiet. The best part was it was so close to where my niece's dinner was that evening! And we had a super time! I was so proud of her! Overall the experience was great! They had a nice hot breakfast for us in the morning and free coffee and tea all throughout.... I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a clean and economical place to stay near great shopping and restaurants! read more

We stayed two nights. The room was a really weird set up, but pretty big. The bed was comfortable. However, the water in the shower never got hot ... tepid at most. There was a good assortment for breakfast but the eggs were horrible ... possibly made from powdered eggs. Also, at 9am on check-out day housekeeping tried to get in to clean the room but we were not checked out yet. Definitely will not stay there again. read more

What do you *mean* you gave my room away??!! I flew in to Austin on business. My flight was delayed so I ended up pulling in to the Springhill Suites at 1:15 am(not like I even wanted to stay there in the first place). Already I was starting to panic about getting enough sleep for my big work day ahead. "Ohhhh, you made your reservation through the central agency. We were over-booked so we had to move you to another hotel" Oh. My. God. Silly me, of course I should have KNOWN the old central agency over-booking clause. A confirmation from the Central Agency is simply a request for a room in case they are not over-sold. That makes perfect sense. In keeping with their (insert profanity here) customer service, they gave me innacurate directions to the new hotel. 45 minutes later, I finally pulled in to the spillover hotel. But hotel #2 did not have room for me the next night! So after five hours of sleep, I got up the next morning, REPACKED my bag and had to recheck in to the Springhill suites later that night. I could seriously write a novel on this. But I am a semi-frequent traveler and am in Marriot's frequent traveler program and this was the most unbelievably appallingly bad situation. I stayed at this hotel for a full week, as I was in town on business. Holy cow, they have the comfiest beds EVER. Their showers have delightful water pressure, the place is very clean, and overall I was really pleased. When I'm in town again, I'll be staying here. The only downside were a few mosquitoes in the room, but yo, it's Austin. I'm sure they weren't put there purposely. :-) Complimentary hot breakfast each morning was tasty, too. Note to business travelers: They don't have a business center, so you can't get something printed very easily. Their 'net access is free, though. read more

Sorry, even the ultra friendly staff can't make up for the fact that this place is directly facing the highway, which just so happened to be under construction until 2am the night I was there, with commuter traffic revving up again by 6am. My room also smelled really mildewy. Is "toxed" (the opposite of detoxed) a word? I felt poisoned. I woke up and blew my nose and ended up with a bloody kleenex. Ewwww! There are at least 3 streets with the same name in the area...so if you're lucky enough to find the right one on the first try...good luck crossing two lanes of traffic right at the end of the ramp to turn on the proper Stonelake. You'll be circling around several blocks to come back to it on the one way frontage street. The suckiest business trip accommodations I've encountered in a long time. read more

Oh Marriott, why has thou forsaken me? We came to town for a friend's wedding and decided to stay in a hotel rather than share a bathroom with 6 other people at a friend's house. My husband get Marriott points when he travels with work so we try to stay there when we can. When I searched on Google I'm not sure why this one came up, there are SO MANY that are closer to the Arboretum than this one.... but I digress. I got lost looking for the hotel. I know where Stonelake Blvd is, and this hotel IS NOT ON IT. My GPS even got lost. So I did what any resourceful girl would do: I called the hotel. The problem with that scenario is this: If they don't answer at the hotel (or better yet, put you on hold, then hang up TWICE) you end up at a national call center. And when you're talking to this national call center you're talking to an idiot who is using Google maps to give you wrong directions. She assured me that the hotel was open and that they were just "busy helping other guests." Yeah, right. The fifth or sixth time I called them someone finally answered and gave me incorrect directions. Really???? The hotel is right by Sam's Boat. you can cut through their parking lot, or make a U-Turn under MoPac on Braker and get there. The hotel was a ghost town when I arrived (11pm by this point) and it smelled funny. My room was ultra toasty because, you know, who uses AC in Texas in March. The bed was very hard. My husband joined me the next night and we were surprised to get to the room after the rehearsal dinner (again, 11pm) to a HOT room. The cleaning staff had turned off the AC while I was out. The towels had been refolded and hung back up, I know this because my mascara was still on the hand towel. Ummm, EW. This hotel is decent, but nothing special. It's situated right next to the highway, which is convenient in a way but doesn't allow for nice views or completely quiet rooms. The room itself comes with a comfortably bed, couch, small kitchenette and flat panel TV. Breakfast was included, and for me that was the best part. Biscuits and gravy one day, and more importantly, they have a juice machine with delicious flavors like passion guava and blueberry acai. Overall, stay here if you have business in the area (like I did) but not if you're looking to hang out downtown. read more

I used to work at this hotel and was probably the only nice person you met while you stayed there. I left during the recent managerial turnover that saw a good number of actual humans without a job. However, I never would've stayed at this hotel on a good day. I'm sure it's on its slow climb towards being respectable now that a new GM is in place but the trust can't be raised. During my time, I had to help clean rooms if housekeeping wasn't up to the task or fix rates and dates because the sales coordinator was too busy watching soap operas to take or make calls. When equipment at the desk started working, keys to guest rooms stopped working. Due to a lack of any real way to compensate or adjust reservations, Expedia guests should be very cautious about staying here as there is a good chance you could be charged again. What do you mean you're missing a microwave or you have dirty towels on your bed? I'll get maintenance/housekeeping/guy who got fired after 4 days on that right away! Now, I understand that there are things that are unavoidable when staying at hotels. Sometimes hotels get overbooked. This shouldn't happen with a sound revenue plan but there is always that worst case scenario. If you're traveling to Austin during a busy time for a conference or the like, I would recommend you find a hotel better suited to handling this issue. Especially now that it's without someone who WILL override the higher rate they foisted onto you. If you're considering this hotel, keep looking. And, no, it's not close to UT. Update: Place got worse. I discovered that the reason I haven't found a better job is because the new mgmt has been giving false, scathing references to past employers. Shortly after I left, the other night auditor of 10 years was laid off and we were both given erroneous references, stating that we were horrible employees who left without notice (I stayed 2 weeks after my witnessed notice to train my replacement and this was addressed in two staff meetings). I was told by legal services to talk with a lawyer about this but with no job, I have no money to pay for an attorney! I can only imagine how the guests must be suffering since when I was last there, the service has been even WORSE. Good god, why won't the place just burn down? read more

My parents stayed here for 10 days. The staff was very helpful and attentive. I stopped by before my parents arrived and asked to see a suite. They immediately took me to see one. My parents requested whole wheat bread for the breakfast buffet and mint tea, and they brought both to their room the next morning. The indoor pool was small but very clean. The jacuzzi was great! Breakfast is included every day and has a waffle maker. There are hot chocolate cookies on weekday evenings. The negatives are relatively minor. You can't swim laps in the pool, and the fitness room consists of just 3 machines. The breakfast could use a little more variety. read more

WORST experience at a Marriott property I have ever had! Well, actually any property for that matter. We visited Austin recently and stayed here, and let me tell you, the room definitely looked nothing like the pictures. We stayed in room 121, and it is in DESPERATE need of a renovation. The room smelled musty and just gross. Like dirty towels or moldy carpet. It was terrible. There was a huge red stain on the carpet and stains on the sofa. The sofa looked like it had never been cleaned, and quite honestly, I didn't want to sit on it. The wallpaper in the bathroom area was peeling, and there was blue construction tape all over one of the corners. The faucet in the shower was loose and caused water to drip from the showerhead even when it wasn't on. The beds were lumpy and uneven. We seriously were exhausted after staying here, because we slept so miserably. To top it off, the front desk personnel were just rude and unpleasant. It's like they didn't want to have to deal with people, when, um, that's kind of your job? I'm just shocked people stay here at all. Maybe it was just our room? We definitely will never stay here again when there are so many other great choices. read more

My stay at this hotel was one of the best so far from any hotel i've stayed at. The hotel was super clean and smelt nice. The front desk people were really nice and patient with your needs. My room was super clean but it did have an odd smell which i tried to ignore. It was really spacious for 6 of us girls staying at the hotel for 3 nights. The free breakfast was above average they had some selection of hot foods which is better than just cereal and bread like moat hotels. The beds were super comfortable and soft i slept like a baby! Over all it was a little expensive but if you split costs with other people then its worth the stay! I would have given it 5 stars but the fact that they had no coca cola products and that the pool was cold and not warm enough. read more

Nice relatively new hotel. Rooms are good size. That's the good news. Now the bad news. They have installed sensors over the dot to each room to monitor when you leave so the A/C shuts off. So if one person leaves the room and the other remains they are miserable. They have also set a limit to how low the A/C will cool. If I were to guess I don't think our room got below 74 degrees even though we had all the blinds closed all afternoon, which I hate. At 7:00 PM we were sweating, not badly, but certainly not comfortable. When down to the front desk and heard other people complaining as well. We left and went to the SpringHill Suites on Parmer Ln. Those rooms were wonderfully cool. I won't stay at the Arboretum again. read more

not a bad hotel. the room was spacious enough and it actually made sense. you know how sometimes the towel rack in the bathroom is like in the other side of the room and how the heck are you supposed to reach for it from the shower without getting the floor all wet? well, this one was right beside the shower. whew! also, there was a sofa, a small table in front if it, a kitchenette, and ofcourse the customary desk and chair. I like plenty of room to lay out my things, and I was pretty satisfied here. the sink in the bathroom had a big enough counter and the entire thing was a good height for a petite person like me. the only thing I didn't like was the complimentary breakfast. the scrambled eggs were kinda tough and dry and they had only one meat which was ham. not a very appetizing lay out. front desk people were nice and helpful. it's a good place to stay the night. read more

Located on the north side of Austin. The surrounding area is nice. The hotel has a very nice entry. Unfortunately the pool is indoor only and very small. Our room was clean and updated. However, the sofa bed wasn't comfortable at all. The cushions are too hard to sit in, the mattress was very old and stained with no padding. You could feel the metal bar of the sofa bed underneath the mattress. The suite we were in was spacious, but the TV was oddly placed in between the dining/living room and the bedroom. We had to change the angle of the TV for everyone to have a better view. Breakfast was limited. read more

We just stayed there from Thu-to yesterday. The pictures on website make it seem like a huge lobby open air concept. NOT SO. Very tiny lobby, tiny everything, smallest room I've ever stayed for a couple with three children. Corridors are narrow and it smells muggy all the time because they have sensors so A/C turns off so room is super humid all the time also. Very unpleasant. Bed was very comfortable and the room disappointing clean, it lacked some of the amenities you find at other hotels but that was okay. Breakfast not good, very average. I am very appreciative of housekeeping staff and try to leave the room ready for them everyday by putting all towels in one pile and all trash together out of respect. I would expect the same respect in return however we went shopping and forgot a bag with $60.00 worth of gourmet candies and other sealed non perishable food items, called the hotel as soon as we noticed, (less tha 24 hours later) and guess what? They took it. Unbelievable that someone would keep that at a hotel where I paid $263.00 per night. Very dishonest cleaning crew and very disappointing. Not coming back and probably will stay away from Marriott brand all together. read more

We needed to stay close to the sports arena and this hotel was just a few steps away. The hotel smelled nice and clean upon entrance .The receptionist was really nice and got us checked in fast and into our two rooms on the first floor. I had booked directly through Marriot and the room looked exactly like the pictures with amenities the website described. The room was clean and very very nice. I liked that there was a partial wall that separated the living area from the sleeping area. The living room sofa turned into a trundle bed and although we didn't need it, I liked that if we had needed it, we still would have had privacy because of the partial wall. I liked that there was a kitchen area with counter space, sink, a mini coffee maker with condiments, and a mini fridge. The restroom was nice and clean with plenty of towels and I liked that it had a door so someone else could use the sink and mirror on the other side. I really liked the lighted mirror and want one at home now. I wish that there would have been another door so that the person sleeping in the room wouldn't be disturbed by that bright light of someone putting their make up on. The breakfast was of wide variety and had something for everyone's dietary needs. Options were scrambled eggs, bacon, Texas shaped waffles, hot oatmeal and condiments (cranberries, walnuts, brown sugar, chocolate chips) pastries included cinnamon strudel muffins & bread, bagels, english muffins, toast. There were cereals, yogurt, and plenty of fruit options along with apple juice, orange juice,milk, coffee and water. There does seem to be some construction going on and although I didn't hear anything I did see some trailers out back and they take up parking spaces, which makes it difficult to find a parking spot it the late hours of the night. I will again use this hotel anytime I'm near the Roundrock Arena. read more

do not stay here!!!!!!! so apparently it is considered smoking in the room for having cigarettes/cigars with you in the room. policy does not state no tobacco allowed in thr room. policy states no smoking in the room allowed which again no one smoked in the room. i am getting accused of something i did not do. my husband threw away some tobacco in the trash. actually in a disposable coffee cup, then into a plasic grocery bag, & then into the trashcan. why are they digging looking into our personal trash. just because of what they found they think it is okay to accuse of something. again, this hotel has a designated area to smoke which is where my husband went to smoke. check the cameras! the room was only $89 for one night. i dont see how you are losing out on $287.50. & should i add that we didnt have the room for a total of 8 hours! we checked in late at 9:30pm. literally just went in the room to drop off our stuff & headed out to bars in downtown austin. came back at 3:00am & checked out at noon! i will never stay at another marriott hotel ever again & will also be informing my friends & family to never stay at a marriott again! read more

I was surprised by the great reviews on trip advisor for this hotel which were in the 4/5 range. We booked it based on those reviews and were sorely unimpressed. For a Marriott hotel I was very disappointed. I had gone online before check in to request extra towels and blankets and none of the requests were accommodated in advance. More than that the mattress on the pull out sofa was disgusting, stained and unsuitable for family to stay on. I ended up just improvising with the kids on the sofa without the pull out part. The rooms are quite lackluster. Everything just appeared very old and worn. There was a large crack on the sink in the bathroom. Cracks lead to water leakage which leads to mold. So I can only suspect there was mold in there as well. The bed linens are thin and worn, thankfully I had extra blankets brought up because it would've been very uncomfortable otherwise. We didn't even attempt the pool which was one of the reasons I booked there in the first place. Husband said it did not look like a place we'd want our kids to swim- it was very small and water was murky. Also he could smell the chlorine from outside the pool door which indicates an imbalance with the water/ph/ circulation etc. Overall recommend Marriott take some steps to improve the aesthetics, rooms and amenities. And while there was a free breakfast, you get what you pay for. The service person was very nice but the food was not ideal. read more
