While I would not put Harbor Freight's tools in the "best" category, they are definitely "better" than a lot of tools for the money. My husband has their mechanic's cart to keep his tools in, he has their 1/2 ton and 1 1/2 ton jacks as well as their paint spraying rig, pressure washer, cordless drill and flashlight, air compressor, wood chipper, and generator just to name of few of the tools. We have had our generator, for example, for 8 years and have had no problems with it whatsoever. When our grandson bought their first house, my husband went down to Harbor Freight and purchased several needed tools for the new homeowner as a house warming present. Now no matter what comes up, he's got a great beginner's toolkit to make repairs with! For most homeowners, the tools from Harbor Freight will take care of the majority of your home repairs.

A week later, my husband called and the lady at the hardware store was very snotty to him on the phone "Did anyone call you yet?" with a lot of sass--that was June 3. My husband called again June 20 -- no answer yet. Another time he called, he got the snotty woman again. After them having our rototiller for a YEAR, charging us $30 to put it in the corner of the repair shop and forget about it -- the repair person even said he thought was it was a junk unit when my husband called March 20, 2020. My husband called a total of 9 times. Urbandale returned 1 phone call. Most of the calls, he heard, "repairman is on lunch" or "repairman is gone for the day" or the famous line -- the part is on back order and will be in in 1 week. When my husband did talk with the repair person, it was supposed to be repaired in a week (again), but no one called; and when my husband finally did talk with the repair person, he said, "oh, didn't anyone tell you that unit is junk?" So whether the repair department is a separate business from the hardware store, both areas are unreliable and useless! Whether you talk to the repair person or a person working in the store, "1 week" seems to be the common excuse, but don't hold your breath waiting for a call! This is a very disappointing business!
