first time Springfield buyer and I'm pissed. I purchased the 1911 Trp classic in 45 acp. It was the fulfillment of a longtime desire to own that flagship pistol from Springfield. I saved a long time to get this pistol because of its advertised quality and dependability. I cleaned and lubed the pistol before taking it to the range. First 100 rounds I had 50 to 60 failures to feed. To say that it was a frustrating day at the range would be an understatement. This is a pistol with a retail price of $1900. Street price was $1400. A pistol at this price point should function out of the box 100% of the time. I've had $500 1911's that performed better than this Springfield. Contacted springfield and their response was to send it back and we will look at it. I'll send it back and hopefully they will fix it, but it really pisses me off that I have to send a brand new gun back so they can fix a problem that never should have happened in the first place. Horrible customer service. This is my first time buying a SA firearm. The Gear up promotion for the Hellcat started August 1. I submitted my receipt August 16th and was approved. A friend of mine submitted their receipt 9 days after me and he already received his items yet when I call Springfield they tell me to be patient and that I will receive it when it is my turn. My turn should not be several weeks after someone that should be after me. To make it worse everytime I call they are just flat out rude. This is my first and last time buying a Springfield. In spite of concerns over their political stances, I purchased an XDS Mod.2 9mm, because I really like the feel and look of the firearm. I had also always heard good things about the quality and shootability of Springfield's firearms. It is a great looking pistol and it does shoot very well. However, if I had it to do over, I would not purchase this pistol and will never be purchasing another after my experience with their customer service. After less than a year, the mag release failed (apparently, a "known" issue) and I nearly lost the mag while in the field. Additionally, even though I thoroughly clean and lubricate the pistol at least once a month, parts of the slide, slide release, mag release, and recoil spring system began to rust. I contacted customer service and they had me send the firearm in for repairs. After a month, I got the gun back (including issues with delivery -- received two days after it was "out for delivery" and of course, an adult had to be home to sign for it). As soon as I opened the gun case, I knew this was not a satisfactory repair. The gun was incorrectly placed back in it's case, causing it to make a hole in the protective foam. Upon further inspection, they did not replace the slide lock, which had obvious damage due to rust. Instead, they "refinished" it -- in other words, they probably wiped it down with a silicone cloth until it looked good. It's obvious this part will continue to deteriorate and rust. Why would you not just replace the part? Additionally, the front part of the recoil spring still shows obvious rust. It's like they didn't even touch that part. After being without my daily carry for a month, I'm now looking at having to send it back for another month for them to do the job they should have done in the first place. All this on top of their questionable 2A politics, I will never purchase another Springfield. read more

I anxiously awaited the arrival of a brand new Springfield Armory Prodigy 9mm 4.25. I even went ahead and purchased the 26 round magazine and the HEX Dragonfly. My local firearms dealer was all set to mount the HEX to the gun but whatever oil and/or locktite used rendered it impossible to remove the rear sight. I decided to fire it using the provided iron sights. After investing nearly $1,700 for the pistol and accessories, I expected a flawless performance. I used 124 grain full jacket target ammo. I've never experienced what happened next in my 40 years of shooting. You'd expect a failure to load, a stovepipe, or a random failure to fire. None of those happened. Instead over 20 times the slide stopped just short of battery. I needed to push the slide forward with my thumb to engage a firing solution. I'm having a gunsmith take it apart and deep clean it to see if that fixes the problem. That's another $50 spent on Springfield Armory's entrance into the 2011 market. Customer service has a lot of explaining to do. Call me annoyed and frustrated. read more

Springfield Always offers great quality, really great customer service, and some of the best guns out there. Not to mention Our Rep (Joe W) is the best rep of all the companies I've worked with. Our boys carried Garands in Ww2. Springfield has been making guns for us since 1794. The history of Springfield deserves respect. Have a problem? Call them- they are always willing to help. I purchased a 2017 M1A loaded new in 2018. The rifle came with a tactical case. After using the case three times over the following year, the plastic zipper lost teeth rendering the soft case unusable. I called and spoke with a customer representative and was told to call back with the serial number for a replacement case. When I did so a week later I was told that "the supervisor" said that the case was too old and no replacement would be sent. Not acceptable quality on Springfield accessories. The case was OF COURSE MADE IN CHINA. Update: I've called back again and after speaking with the supervisor, I've been told that they would send out the current case which comes with the M1A. I appreciate the reconsideration, and I am looking forward to the new case. read more

For being such a big company I find it despicable that they will not give me the free magazines from the gear up promotion. I completely paid for my firearm, background, taxes, everything 10 days prior to the promo ending except, wait for it...for paperwork purposes that store put it as layaway and left ONE CENT to pay when I came to pickup. My 10 day wait was over on the first of the month, promo was over the 31st. I am so completely turned off by that type of BS from grown adults running a major American buisness. That is my only springfield and will ever be my only. I read the one star, two star reviews. Mine is 5 stars with no hesitation. 7 Year old Xdm 9mm 5.25 and it began to double feed and stovepipe. I tried all the fixes I could try and finally called Springfield. They emailed a Fedex label, I shipped it and I received it back a few days before a match. They sent a $0 Due invoice along with an apology for any inconvenience. I did not have time to test fire the gun and simply shot the match running about 125 of my reloaded rounds without a single hiccup. When a manufacturer effectively repairs an 8 year old product with 20000 rounds pushed through it, no charge, no shipping fee and an apology, how can I rate anything less than 5 stars? read more

I foolishly ordered a gun-shaped collection of chatter marks and wavy metal bits that Springfield calls a "1911 pistol." It hits about 3 inches low at ten feet. Those parts of this thing that measure within tolerances are all at the extreme end - the holes are big, the pins are small. The rest are well outside tolerances. Presumably, this is so that Springfield can assemble the "pistol" by putting all the parts in a bucket and shaking. In a vain attempt to quiet this thing down and turn it into a gun, I ordered an oversized barrel bushing and slide stop from EGW. Nice parts, but they're still too small. The slide and frame are not surface ground, such that if I were to polish and refinish them, the result would be something akin to a bluish, crudely-made fun house mirror. The barrel lugs look as though they were formed with a hand-held angle grinder by a spastic chimpanzee. The slide is visibly curved on the vertical axis. You read that right. It is true that bullets fly out the end upon pulling the trigger. Because of this, Springfield declined to fix or replace it under warranty. read more

I'm usually a pretty devout Beretta fan but I bought an M1A Scout about three or four years ago because I wanted a short, rugged and reliable semi auto rifle that I could pack into the woods with me and didn't look like I was hunting the Taliban and boy let me tell you what, that rifle is effin rad. Its no precisions .500" MOA shooting rifle like some people expect it to be but I can pretty consistently hit a 12" target at about 300 yards with the iron sights that come on the rifle and I'm just some po dunk farm boy from eastern Washington. Reliability wise its jammed maybe a couple times but I reload my own ammo so I don't know if it was me making a bad bullet or if it was the rifle. We spend a lot of time out in the rain and snow and dirty dust together so all things considered I would call it reliable. Since the M1A was such a success I decided to buy a 1911 GI so I could have a pistol that I could kick around and scratch up and beat up and not worry about it because I didn't have to spend upwards of $1500 on a pistol. I think I payed about $700 for the GI model. I'm a bad shot with pistols, but this 1911 makes me look like I know what I'm doing. Just screwing around at the range my buddy and I were shooting clay pigeons we set up on the ground at about 75 yards. For you non pistol shooters that's a bit of a ways. I have dropped it in a river accidentally. It has been covered in mud. It fell out of my pack while riding dirt bikes and I'm fairly confident my buddy ran it over, though I cannot confirm or deny that last part. But it has never jammed and it has never complained. I loved the M1A and 1911 so much I decided to get an XDS Mod 2 in a .45 as a carry pistol. Now, it doesn't shoot nearly as nice as the 1911, it shoots more like a regular pistol so I'm a pretty bad shot with it. The 1911 spoiled me. But after a bit of practice and about 100 rounds or so I'm able to hit a 8"x11" sheet of paper at about 10 yards pretty consistently. All in all I really like Springfield weapons. They are tough, they are reliable, they are not all that expensive, and they are damn fine looking weapons. But they are not sooper dooper high precision rifles and pistols, so don't expect to slap a scope on a Scout squad and hit a ritz cracker at 4056.8 yards like some of you autistic long range shooters think everything should be able to do. And don't buy a classic 1911A1 and think you can put holes in holes at 25 yards like you weird Kimber fans think all pistols should do. Yeah, I'm talking about you guys. But if you buy these things and take care of them, they will do their jobs every time all the time and not complain one bit while they do it. I had a a compact 1911 .45 ACP that had a crack in the frame near the magazine release. I emailed SA and they advised me to send it to them to determine if the pistol was serviceable or not. Sadly they deemed it non-serviceable. They called me up with two options-rebuild the pistol onto a new frame or warranty it and send me a replacement. I opted for the new pistol and received it just a couple of days later. I can't speak highly enough of the customer service I received the entire process. They had responded to my emails quickly, paid shipping to and from them and warrantied 20+ year old pistol! I was indeed sad to say good bye to my old faithful CCW but in the end I am a very happy customer! I greatly appreciate SA stands behind their products and offered me excellent customer service! So I bought a $1600 Springfield Armory Edge pistol. The Maxim Defense brace (top of the line) was scuffed up a little. Had shippers insurance on this but guess what, as soon as transfer is completed, well no more coverage. Damage would have occurred during assembly at Springfield. My bad, I should have read the fine print. Next, the AR dust cover won't close. Called customer service to get the lowdown on this but they don't have anyone who will discuss warranty issues with customers. Send it in. Now I can fix it in about 30 seconds with a hand file but I wanted to discuss with tech first. Send it in. Expect 4 weeks turnaround. No thanks, I'll handle this myself I guess. Sloppy assembly, nonexistent phone support. This is my first (and may be my last) Springfield purchase. read more

Ordered and paid for a Waypoint 2020 from one of Springfields dealers last January 2021, I was told from the start if would be a few months at least. I waited about 3 months called the dealer and they said they have had no updates but they would check with Springfield and get back to me, I waited a couple of weeks no follow up so I called the dealer they said no updates from Springfield so I called them directly. The first call went OK and I was told the rifle I ordered had not gone into production and it would be another couple months so I wait till end of June. I call the dealer no information, I call Springfield and get almost no help so I call back again and one of the customer service people tell me that the configuration I ordered would be the last run of production and it would be late summer early fall, OK I said I'll wait (I really want this rifle). I call back again in the early fall no updates but I am told check back late fall early winter, I do as asked and get the same story. I also attempted calling and emailing the CEO no luck. On the next call I am told try back after the holiday so I call after New Year's same run around. The last time I call a week or so ago I am told they have no idea when it will be produced as they are waiting for parts so they can produce the product, they are now using the supply chain excuse. The bottom line is Springfield's customer service sucks, the product I do have from them is top notch no complaints but if they are going to develop, market and promote a new product like the Waypoint one would think should have taken the steps to produce it. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide to resolve this issue and prevent recurrence in the future. In short, I sent a Springfield XDS pistol back to the shop in early October 2021 where the issue with the pistol (chamber throat dimensions and inability to feed some factory loadings) was not addressed. This interaction concluded with the pistol being returned to me with poor response and a test target showing bullet holes of the wrong diameter (9mm vs .45) which I consider to be an integrity issue. I let you staff know that I was most unhappy and they requested that I send the pistol back to them in early December 2021. During this second RMA inspection of the pistol issue , the Springfield gunsmithing shop declared again that no problem exists and refuses to discuss the detailed measurements included in my problem letter. Though the technical service has not met my expectations thus far, the thing that sends this issue "over the top" is that the shop has not sent the pistol back to me and shows no intention of doing so. Since the shop declared "no issue" more than a month has passed with no action. This is absolutely crazy and I don't know when they intend to return the pistol... if ever. Questions: 1. Would you locate my pistol, determine the chain of custody of the firearm and service/return timeline involved in inform me of the results? 2. Determine if the pistol was stolen from your shop, used inappropriately by your employees or is this a case of a work order gone terribly wrong with little or no supervisory oversight? I feel that if you pull the string on these RMA service request that a serious customer service issue will be dragged into the light along with any associated problems with the management and supervisory oversight or lack thereof. This issue should have never gotten this far long for me to start looking to escalate to the executive level. I actually feel that Springfield has stolen my pistol. Why is that? Please ask you staff the same question. I request that you resolve this issue and return my pistol to me within 30 or face legal action to force the return of my property. I purchased a new XDM in October 2014 under Springfield's "Gear up- 2 free mags promotion". Before making the purchase, I verified per their marketing materials that magazines are shipped with legal capacities according to my local laws. Not having received the magazines 6 weeks later, I followed up with customer service twice before receiving an unapologetic response saying they don't have any and are unwilling to cap them according to my local laws. After several emails back and forth, there has been no offer to cap the magazines they have, ship the high cap magazines to a local dealer or anything really. While I have been happy with the firearm to date, starting off with the full accessories kit including the 2 extra magazines was a large part of the purchasing decision. Between the misleading/false advertizing and lack of customer service, I am hoping Springfield's sloppy business is not indicative of poor manufacturing. I do not trust companies that lie to and trick their clients. There are enough other good firearm companies out there that you don't need to waste your money here. read more

I purchased a red dot on Dec 20-21 for 299.00 and received the wrong item on Dec 24-21. i returned the wrong item on Dec 27-21 and i then got an email on Jan 3-22 stating they have received the item and it will take 2 to 4 weeks for the return. I would like to say that I have not been disappointed by their firearms nor customer service. Their accessories and tools on the other hand, a different story. See below... Ordered a a couple of discounted items via snail mail through their "M1A Loaded Coupon." The time it took in between sending in that "coupon" and getting my stuff is approximated to about one month. Hell, I'm still waiting for one item that is still on backorder status. On to my actual received items: 1.) I received an old rusted cleaning kit; had to take corrosion brush and WD-40 to remove rust and prevent further corrosion. The case that the cleaning kit was in, wasn't even sealed or anything. It looked like a case that belonged to someone else. 2.) The M1A "Gadget" I received had a "Made In China" sticker on it, was very cheap-looking, and the instructions that it came with was obviously hand-cut very crudely. It looked like it had been cut by someone who has never used scissors before. How ridiculously unprofessional is that?! Long story short -- I love Springfield long guns and will continue to endorse their worth. I won't however, be forking over any more of my hard-earned dollars for any SAI "factory-fresh" tools or accessories that appear (or even worse: ARE) like junk made out of country. After purchasing some magazines a while back, I was finally able to get out to trying them out, and came to find out they sold me the incorrect magazines!!! I specified I owned a 1911 A1, which is a FULL SIZED hand gun, I got sent "Commander" magazines, they will not feed ammo into the weapon, but the magazines DO FIT. Now, I explained this in an e-mail and after they review the situation, will not correct it, not even as a gesture of goodwill or (lets face it, it costs them NOTHING to EXCHANGE for the correct model, even if there was a price difference, i would have paid, just as a matter of fairness) they offer NOTHING. These magazines camre ot me in simple zip lock bags, no pachaging like you might expect, which means, they save money on blister packs, etc. NOW, these magazines in question are in BRAND NEW, UNUSED CONDITION. totally resellable. I'd be hard pressed to buy anything, considering I was willing to buy 5 more, had they exhanged the 1st incorrect 5, I ended up at their competitor for better mags at a lower price, of which, I BOUGHT 5, and plan on buying another 10. Also, they lost a loyal client in me, as my 1st 1911 i purchased back in 1990 from them, and I wanted to buy a second unit, and their AR, but not anymore, I'll be buying Ruger or Smith & Wesson from now on. read more

Just got back a firearm from Springfield Armory's Custom Shop, and have previously had to have warranty repairs to one of their firearms. Their customer service is top notch. VERY friendly customer service reps that go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied with their products. They are quick to reply to e-mails, and always answer the phones. The work done by repairs dept and the Custom Shop was prompt (within 1 week turnaround). SA paid for shipping on warranty repairs, and were always set FedEx overnight. The Custom Shop work was outstanding, and while it was maybe slightly more expensive than other gunsmiths, you get what you pay for and you don't void your warranty. Well worth it. A+ for Springfield Armory. read more

Call me un-American but I simply purchased an XDM .45 Compact Elite with carry case and 3 extra magazines. All 5 magazines that came with the gun were 9 rounds instead of 10 rounds which is incorrect. I had to ship them all back, wait until they received them until they shipped the correct ones. The representative actually told me it is a slow process to ship them back to me. You would think they would expedite them for the inconvenience. When I originally contacted a supervisor about replacing the magazines, she also placed an order for additional 13 round magazines at the warranty discounted price. When inquiring about the order recently, it was nowhere to be found. Placed a new order with a different representative and after hanging up with her I realized she charged me an extra $8.00 per magazine. Had to call back again and have her cancel them so I can do it the correct way on their website. Overall, my experience with the people at Springfield Armory was terrible and this will probably be my last Springfield Armory purchase.
