I've been to this store twice to try and sell my Xbox. The first time they said I needed to bring a…read morecontroller to test it so they couldn't buy it. Why would a store that sells and buys console, games, controllers, etc, not have a test controller in order to test consoles and games? It makes no sense. The second time I went there I had brought a controller for them to use. Then they said it was turning on but it wasnt displaying on the screen. They pulled out another cord that they called the "test cord". The worker told me that "if this cord doesn't work then we know it's the Xbox because this is the test cord." They then told me it must be my console's HDMI port that is broken. The last time I used it, it was working just fine. So, I go home and the first thing I do is plug in the Xbox to test it myself. The console starts up just fine and starts displaying on my screen just fine. NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CONSOLE! I called the store and told them that I just got home and tested the Xbox myself and it was working just fine and told me I would have to come back tomorrow and try again. So now I've drove all the way through town on two separate occasions to try and sell the Xbox at their store and the expect me to do it a third time! Both times ended with me leaving the store upset and confused.

I bought an original Xbox One for $89 which I thought was a pretty good deal and when I took it home to play, it played great. Very good selection and value. The last time I was in there, I decided to splurge on a season DVD set of "Scrubs". When I asked about the return policy if they didn't play correctly, he not only told me the policy but also double checked each disc and ran them through the machine for me! It only took a few extra minutes, but I really appreciated the extra touch!

This one is fortunately still open and is no way related to the Acme Comics in Normal, IL (which has closed recently). I am bias towards this store as I have been here many times. This store is my first place to scope out used video games. They don't have a large selection of current generation stuff, but they do have a lot of 'retro' games. Think NES, SNES, N64, PS2, Gameboy and the like. Everything is moderately priced, if not sometimes lower/higher than market value. But it's a locally owned business, so I don't mind paying a few more dollars to support a great shop. Since their inventory shifts, there is usually always something new to see when I go in. Lately, I have been getting old GamePro, Nintendo Power, Tips & Tricks magazines for $2 a piece. Talk about a nostalgic trip. They offer a large selection of CDs but they seem to be shying away from those in the more recent years. I believe they also do have vinyl and music dvds as well. I used to purchase a large amount of cds back in the day when they had 4/$10. Still reaping the benefits of that today with a massive music collection. Moving on, this place is a Comic shop first and foremost. While they do sell other things, obviously, I am betting the comic book scene is the bulk of their customers. One of my friends alone has a massive pull list there. I don't know much about comics, but they offer a wall of new arrivals as well as your $0.50 comics. The staff can be a bit inattentive at times, but they never seem bothered when you ask them for help. All in all, a pretty great local shop.
