I have been using Springer plumbing for over 15 years, but it seems things have changed. It used to be a family business that cared about its customers but maybe those days are over. I made an appointment online (a huge mistake) to investigate draining my water heater and replacing the sacrificial anode rod. The first inkling that something was wrong was when I was not given an approximate arrival time. The day of service I used their chat feature (100% AI I'm sure) to try and narrow a time down and was told I'd get a call from the office about a time, but no one called. Then we called their office number (and again 100% AI I'm sure) we were again told we'd get a call from the office, but again, it never happened. This must be a common complaint because checking on arrival times is one of the numeric options when you get the menu. That menu option told me the visit would occur between 11 AM and 11 PM! Really? So disappointing. At 2:50 the technician called to give me a 25-minute heads up he was on his way. When he got here, he informed me that the cost to drain the water heater was over $1,000 and that that did not include the anode rod. I couldn't believe it. With an average lifespan of 8-12 years and almost 6 yrs already gone by, I didn't feel it was worth a $1,000 gamble that we'd be extending the lifespan of the heater. I declined the service. I think information about the cost of water heater flushing should have been shared with me before the appointment. Someone should have picked up the phone and warned me about the exorbitant cost of flushing a water heater. But maybe Springer is in a position where the $129 service fee is worth more to them than repeat business. If you make an appointment with Springer, call them (don't book online) and ask if they have any idea of the cost of your needed service before they come to you. Also, be prepared to remain a hostage in your home for the day. read more

I have used Springer Plumbing several times before, and felt they did a good job. So when I needed to have the dishwasher air gap replaced in my kitchen I called them again. I think I was quoted a $129 base fee for the house call. Before the plumber started, I was shocked when he told me it would cost over $500! I should not have approved it, but I did. I was already out the base fee; he was already there, and I did not want to have to bother getting bids from other plumbers and starting all over. I regret that now. So after a 50 minute visit to replace a $30-$40 part, I received a bill of $573.71. The next time I need plumbing work done, I shall look elsewhere. read more

Kid talked on the phone most of visit. Quote was twice as high as the quality company I went with. For a drain drip in an indoor open wall hatch (arms reach) previously cut, and a new toilet ceil the quote from this company was 1,875.76 by the guy in the field. When I said we would pass, he said he'd send me a quote from the office. I told him not to bother. Not sure why he sent it anyway, but the estimate from the office was only 1,159.89. Still crazy high. Hmmm I guess the first bill was for the senior and 35 year fighfighter discount that was never reflected. Or perhaps it was the waterfront price. ?????? Beware!! read more

I've used this company twice to repair a broken toilet and replace a different toilet. I called them back a few months later to make a minor adjustment (wasn't their fault) and that was handled with ease. They were one of the cheapest options when I solicited bids from other companies. Two guys from Springer, including the owner, came the same day we called and fixed a serious pinhole leak that was flooding our basement. They charged us almost $300 per hour. This high cost is not our beef. The work was pricey but effective. We feel lucky to find any plumbers who could respond on the same day. And we found two! IT WAS ONLY AT THE END OF THE JOB DID WE DISCUSS COVID. They don't wear masks and we are left wondering whether they even do the tests. This is stressing us. Every other contractor coming inside our house discusses this and wears a mask and tests. We were careless and thought our other spouse had asked them about it. We are visibly old and sick. Our entire household is immune compromised. People like us risk having a more severe case than the general population. And it can still kill us. Also, about 24 million people in the US still have Long Covid. I wrote them a note that they should discuss this BEFORE entering people's homes. But they just ignored me, grunted and left. We are putting this info out to alert customers. It was a while back, but people who do work for us are MUCH more careful and considerate of others. I now wish the other company we had called had called back 5 minutes sooner. Plus when I called to ask about an extra, unlabeled $80 charge the receptionist was surly and unhappy to be bothered. I had a repair done back in February and although I went off a recommendation, I was pretty unhappy with the service. They showed up and were nice, not friendly but nice. The apprentice went under the house to complete the repair, and the journeyman plumber stayed in the truck smoking cigarettes. They completed the repair in under 15 minutes and I was charged $300+. I was overwhelmed and surprised, to say the least. Considering plumbers in the area charge around $135-150 an hour around here -- I would have been happy to pay their hourly rate. That's what I was expecting. Did I pay for the 2nd plumber to sit in his truck smoking cigarettes? I will not be using their services again. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Springer Plumbing! They have a customer for life with me. I needed my new sink faucet and drain installed but the underside of my sink was a mess of pipes. They came the day I called (thankfully) and fixed it/installed everything within an hour. When I got the quote from them before they began working, it was 5X less than another local plumber. When I mentioned it, their response was simply that they don't feel the need to overcharge and they only charge for the work that needs to be done. First of all, these are good, honest people doing fine work. And I will use them again and make them my go-to business for plumbing. But I'm one of those snake-bit customers where things just don't turn out as well as I'd hoped. My water heater was failing, so they replaced it. They also replaced the circulation pump. After multiple visits, there's still an audible buzzing hum from the pump that's very irritating. The pump is in the basement, but the hum resonates through the upstairs rooms above it. But Springer Plumbing did all they could. I didn't have much hope when the last technician came out and greeted me with a booming voice. People with naturally loud voices usually don't have as acute hearing as their quieter-voiced counterparts. But he went above and beyond even though he couldn't hear the buzzing. Since then, friends have visited and most could hear it. One even thought it was a nest of bees in the wall. And now, I find the heat of the water is less than I'd like in the main shower. That might be a shower-plumbing issue, but it's new along with the new water heater and the buzzing hum. Still, I'll be using Springer again. Once I can get a rest from inflation and other expenses, the shower is on my list for them. Overall, a great company, with very patient, professional people. You won't regret hiring them. A total waste of time. Trying to find a plumber to do work and when the plumber came to look at the work I wanted done at a time to correspond with other work. I waited 1 week for an estimate and ended up emailing the company and the reply was we won't be doing the work. Got a new water heater from Springer plumbing. They walked me through both the tankless and non tankless systems without attempts to upsell me something I didn't need. They were the 3ed plumber I'd talked to about the replacement and by far the best. I highly recommend. Edit 5/31/19. Found some water under my water heater and sent an email to Springer Plumbing in the evening. They got back to me the same night and scheduled Ron to come out first thing the day. My hot water heater leaked so I called Springer Plumbing. I left a message and wishing a few minutes Diane returned my call. I was amazed with she said they could be over within the hour to see what I needed. As promised, the owner of the company came and inspected the headed and gave me the option of repair vs replacement. The unit was old. I chose replacement. A price was quoted and within 3 hours I had a new hot water heater. No add on charges, an efficiently ran business from the initial call to billing. The technician was professional. Do not call this plumber unless you want to overpay for their under performance. I had them provide a bid for a very small job of connecting a water line from a detached garage/shop to my home. They charged for the estimate and bid $1500 for the work. I eventually used Plumbline Plumbing who did the work for $300 and were great. read more

Springer Plumber is wonderful. We had a big scare a couple months ago where we thought we had a leak in piping inside our wall. We saw that Springer Plumbing had a free consultation and called them. They were out within the same day and investigated for about an hour, it turned out we didn't have a leak after all just a funny coinsidence where when we had our washing machine and shower running it made a dripping noise as if it were leaking in the wall. Not only was there no charge for them coming out we also got a handwritten thank you note for calling them. Please know that this service was provided several years ago so things may very well have changed since then. Springer was hired to replace a kitchen faucet. They were prompt and very friendly, very chatty. However, they had the apprentice do this simple job but did not watch him closely. The faucet never worked right and dripped under the sink so I called a different company. That plumber told me it had been installed wrong. Problems were corrected by the other guy and the faucet worked perfectly thereafter. read more

I used this business to get an outdoor faucet put in the front yard. They did not arrive on time for the appointment firstly. Secondarily they broke my drive way light (pictures attached) . In addition they did not finish the job and left at around 4 pm stating that union rules required them to leave. This would not have been a problem if they arrived on time for the appointment. They also left a hole with a pipe sticking out of the ground.(which is still there) pictures attached. I called them after I realized the light had been broken they gave me grief about it and finally too $200 off the cost... granted they charged $700 for a job that was not complete and a broken light with a hole left in the ground???? This from a highly recommended business.... doesn't seem right to me! Finally, the manager came back to my residence around 3 weeks after the initial appointment... now stating they would have to call 888 and do a bunch more digging and left saying I would recieve a qoute for the additional work. I still as of today have not recieved a bid for the additional faucet installation... realize there is still a hole in my yard with a pipe sticking out... no qoute... I would hope that a business with such a reputation would just come out and install the additional faucet and fill the hole free of charge at this point. This has been quite an ordeal. I would be very wary of using this company as they do not follow through nor make things right when a mistake has occured. read more
