Who doesn't love a neighborhood Chinese spot? Its your typical take-out spot located on a super busy street. Parking is usually a hit or miss, there are a few spots right in front of on the side streets. The store front is what you would expect, its dull. One star deduction because they are utilizing their front store as storage for all of their boxes sodas and fortune cookies, which looks super unorganized and non-welcoming. However, the quality of the food here is pretty consistent. I've ordered from here multiple times with no issues. I can't speak for their delivery services as I've always opted to pick up my stuff, which is always ready within 10 minutes - which is win for me. In addition, $6 lunch specials? You honestly can't beat that. I've seen other reviews stating their service is crappy, to be honest, I've never had any issue, the front store person has always been nice and pleasant. This place had the rudest service imagineable. I called to order delivery for a party of 40 and the lady that answered the phone was so rude and hung up on me 3 times. This place is a total rip-off. I placed an order for delivery and asked for (lunch menu special) orange chicken with fried rice and a side order of chicken wings. She said it's $16 and some change, and it needed to be at least $20 for delivery, so I added a small shrimp lo mein. Then I asked if I could pay over the phone (food was for my teenage son) and she said they don't take cards over the phone, I will need to pay on-site, which was fine because my son has a debit card. Delivery person called me to let me know he was outside, I quickly called my son to get his food. I'm working mind you. My son called me to let me know they gave him sesame chicken instead, and I needed to send him more money because he had to pay more. When I asked how much was everything, he said $29.00 plus a $5 tip (my son is generous). I called them to find out how much was everything because there was no receipt, very rude she gave me the breakdown, and the math was not adding up. She then said we charge a $4 delivery, I asked her why she didn't tell me that when I placed the order, she claims she did. Regardless, I live in Clifton only 2.3 miles away. Such a wonderful and delightful surprise. I was snowed in and craving Chinese Food. The usual Chinese Take Out that I order from was closed due to a blizzard. I lucked out when I discovered that not only was Spring Garden open but they also were delivering. This Chinese food was probably the best I have ever had!!!! My family and I have been ordering Chinese takeout from Spring Garden for years. We stick with the classics like chicken and broccoli with plain yellow rice, but I always order mine with garlic sauce. The food is always fresh and we've never had any issues and did I already stress the fact that we've been eating here for years? Not sure about most other meals on the menu, but we do order vegetable lumen occasionally and it's really good. I think we ordered pepper steak combo once and it wasn't what we were expecting. I don't know if it's my age or the way the whole chinese take out is going but in the "day" if you ordered rice or lo mein the veggies included in the rice/l mein were egg, onion, bamboo shoots, peas and carrots . How sad that I ordered a pint of lo mein and had to pay for egg and no bamboo shoots peas or carrots. I don't mind paying for these x tra items but really? you raise prices and take awa? The food was good and on time. However the person who takes the phone orders is not friendly at all. I had to ask if I called Spring Garden because she didn't say anything when she picked up. When I went to pick up my order, she was taking another order over the phone, so the gentleman in the back who was cooking took care of me. He was wonderful and gave a friendly smile. One of the best Chinese food I have had in Clifton.. Highly suggest the lo mein, and fried rice.

The only reason why I'm rating this place 2 Stars is because of the lady owner. She is so rude and not pleasant at all. I've been coming here for years and consider myself a steady customer. Not once did she say thank you. I recall one time the bill came out to $10.01. I didn't have a penny on me and she said - sorry but I cannot give you the order until you pay me the penny. It's such a shame, so I had to break a $50 because of that penny. I love this place. This is by far the best Chinese take out place I've ever experienced. I've had a lot on their menu and have never been disappointed. My favorite has to be their sesame chicken, they make it so right. The staff is pretty friendly as well. I've been going since 2002 and they always remember what and how much sauce i want. I went here with my spouse on 8/4/18. I had the orange flavored chicken and he had the sesame chicken. Although it's basically a take out place, we ate there. The food was hot and fresh. I don't know if it would be the same taste if we took it home. Definitely taste a lot better than my neighborhood Chinese takeout. We would definitely visit again. read more

I ordered from here last Tuesday and I do have to say its very good. I do not do very well with Chinese food and very selective of what I order based on what I can handle. Order in person, the lady on the front counter was having lunch apparently and went there to take my order she was in a horrible mood (even tho is not my fault and didn't asked her to stop eating to take my order) explained 3 times what I wanted and her she didn't get it ... when I got home realize I was missing an item called and after 3 hours explaining she just gave the phone to someone else who also tried to tell me they didn't make a mistake, when back in person and prove them they make a mistake and the guy pretended he was not understanding and just told me if I wanted the item I had to pay for it.
