Lynn Berman seems to know his stuff and he explained my problem to me well. Because my insurance didn't cover the service I paid $200 and since, unlike most PT's he didn't see another person at the same time, the $200 covered a half hour session during which he did very minimal work but only on me. Twice he assured me that he would send me videos of exercises to do at home in between meets and twice he forgot and I had to remind him. Someone else wrote he was like a magician and if what he did was meant to help me then it surely would have been magic as it was barely anything. I've had chronic neck pain for years. The x-ray and diagnosis from my physician was arthritis from fused vertebrate. However, after an initial consult with Lynn, he was able to accurately identify my problem and clearly describe to me exactly what was going on with my spine and neck - he was confident that my vertebrate were not fused. After just the first two visits he was able to get movement in my vertebrate and my body responded rapidly to his treatment within a few weeks. He has an extremely intuitive approach, and the knowledge and skill to correct problems with a non-aggressive method. I am extremely thankful for Lynn. He has provided me with a pain free life! Simply amazing! You will not meet anyone that offers this level of attention and support. I came in around late June 2013 as a referral from a client who could not stop talking about Lynn. I was on crutches with post op knee surgery (tibial Plateau fracture with some hardware installed) and I'm currently fully weight bearing and walking unassisted with a slight limp, which is entirely my fault as a result of not doing the exercises Lynn recommended. I lied and told him I was doing them but I rarely did them. But we are currently working on extension and I'm confident I'll be playing tennis again very soon. read more

I was referred to Dr. Lynn Berman at Spring Forward Physical Therapy by one of the top Sports Orthopedic Surgeons in the Upper East Side. He promised me that if anyone could help me overcome the PFPS that had developed in both knees after years of wear-and-tear from Crossfit, it would be Dr. Berman. He called Lynn directly on the spot and made the appointment for me. I was a bit nervous to start physical therapy because I felt that it would be a waste of my time. In the first session with Lynn, we sat and he asked me a ton of questions to get a full download of what was ailing me. After evaluating me further, he came up with a plan for my treatment -- recommended I see him twice per week for therapy and that I would need to be diligent about the home care exercises he prescribed. Lynn is a very hands-on physical therapist and he employs different modalities to help his patients. For my knees, that meant a lot of weird knee/ leg massages and some kind of ultrasound machine; both felt like nothing was happening... magic! Each session finished with 15-minutes of cold therapy (ice packs). I was told to be very careful about my movements; Lynn taught me how to properly perform daily activities, such as walking up/ down stairs in a way that wouldn't aggravate my knees. We also worked through several exercises along the way. I was desperate to continue my workout routine, and Lynn worked with me on modifications so that I could exercise without hurting myself. I did my home care exercises every night. Lynn told me it would be important for me to build strength in my weak areas to support proper knee function. All that being said, it is now 3-months later and I am back to Crossfit! More than anything, what I took away from my physical therapy sessions with Lynn was that I needed to be more aware of what I was doing to prevent future injury. Lynn was clear about his expectations from me as a patient as well. While I am back to my routine, there are a lot of things I still don't yet do (or at least I do them with less weight). What I liked most about Lynn is that he is caring and not judgmental. I was adamant with him about my desire to continue with my workout albeit high-impact, and he was keen on helping me get there. Lynn is also a riot and made each session super fun. Spring Forward Physical Therapy is a professional, well-run establishment filled with knowledgable and caring professionals. I have never been to physical therapy before, but after a knee injury I had no choice. As an avid skier, I was resigned to the likelihood that I wouldn't be able to ski quite as well as I had before. Once I couldn't ignore my knee any longer, I reluctantly went to Spring Forward. Right from entering the office, I was greeted warmly and personally which really set the tone for what was to come - a highly personalized and tailored program for my knee that got me back to my normal self within weeks. As a health professional myself, my standards are already pretty high. Mary Jean not only exceeded them but she worked intensively with me on a customized program that pushed me but was within my limits and abilities as well. She was extremely friendly, professional and, most importantly, highly effective. Each week I could literally feel positive results. I'm now looking forward to ski season with the same enthusiasm as before and without any hesitation, which is something I couldn't imagine just a few months ago before. I've had really bad experiences with PT for my neck and back issues. Mostly, they just throw electrodes on me or want to give me cortisone. The moment I went to Spring Forward, it was a relaxing and professional atmosphere. Lynn performed a detailed consult, gave me all his attention and immediately identified issues that were causing my pain after watching me walk down the hall a few times. He did a few exercises and I felt better right away. It was kind of ridiculous. Seriously. He feels that we can address the issues in a few sessions and get me to a much better place. If you are having issues and want to really understand why things are happening and how to resolve them, you'll love this place. I came to Lynn with tendinitis in my knee, IT band issues and weak hips. I was signed up to run the NYC Marathon in seven months and was in no condition to do so. I could barely walk. However, in just a few short weeks Lynn had already started to turn things around and I was back to walking without a limp. In another four weeks I was running short distances and soon after that I was able to start training for the big race. Lynn got me back on my feet, literally! When I first met Dr. Lynn Berman, I could barely walk. My feet, ankles, and legs were so swollen that they looked like water balloons. My foot doctor told me I needed surgery, which meant using crutches for at least 6 weeks. I asked for an alternative, and she sent me to Lynn. He was incredibly attentive and insightful during my assessment, then started treating me with his magic hands, thoroughly explaining the way his methods would ameliorate my pain and answering my many questions, which eased my anxieties. More importantly, Lynn was able to determine that I could avoid surgery through manual and laser therapy, as well as supplementing my sessions with various stretches. I went from excruciating pain from merely standing to being able to race through the city again. Lynn is very professional, and also very amiable and astute at noticing even small changes and adjusting treatment accordingly. This is the place to turn to when you need treatment for your pain. & now I've met Dr. Danielle Weis, who has proved by hand surgeon wrong: I do NOT need surgery for my carpal tunnel syndrome; I need Danielle. I had an hour long consultation where she determined I had "twisted pelvis" after 2 visits she literally healed me. she taught me some great exercises and I have been feeling great ever since. I highly recommend Spring Forward for true PT, individual attention, a plan that changes as you progress and addresses issues that come up in between sessions. I was treated for a rotator cuff tear. My doctor was sure that with PT I could avoid surgery. And we DID IT! In addition to my sessions, I was given exercises to do at home. Easy to follow instructions and the exercises changed with my progress. My therapist, Danielle, was friendly, knowledgeable and caring. She reached out to find out how I've been after the end of my treatments and to let me know that she's available to answer any questions. Spring Forward Physical Therapy is a life saver!! I was referred to Lynn in August by my knee doctor, who was helping me with my IT band syndrome. I had just about lost all hope that I would ever run again when I first met with Lynn, as my injury had been preventing me from running for almost 7 months. I left my first session with a new sense of optimism and determination - after thoroughly examining my knee and hearing my story, Lynn enthusiastically told me that I'd be running again in no time and that he knew exactly what work had to be done. Explaining to me the anatomy of my knee and the exact goals of our work together (strengthening surrounding muscles, stabilizing my hips etc), I was more motivated than ever to diligently do my home exercises and come back on a weekly basis for the next few months. In our sessions, Lynn was very hands-on, mobilizing my IT band and massaging different areas of my knee. I began feeling improvement only after a few weeks, and now, not only am I running again, but I also feel stronger than ever. Most importantly, though, Lynn has given me a new-found and invaluable knowledge of how to protect my knee going forward. Lynn is incredibly smart about how the body works and an overall fantastic physical therapist. I feel so lucky to have found him! He is also very amiable and makes sessions lively and fun. I went to Spring Therapy earlier this year because of constant pain/discomfort in my neck and shoulder. I've had this for years mainly due to poor posture and sleep patterns. I started working with Danielle and was so impressed with how knowledgeable and skillful she is. She knew exactly the right areas to target to provide relief.
