It is situated in Van Cortlandt Park which is the third largest park in New York city at just over 1200 acres. Near the golf house there is a lake which is home to a family of swans, a gaggle of geese and sord of quacking mallards. There are many trails as well for cycling, hiking and running surrounding the gated fairways. The grounds and fairways of the course are well maintained. Prices are reasonable ranging from $29 for senior to $45 adults. The park opens early at dawn and closes by dusk. There are refreshments available at the club house. Sometimes the balcony is rented for weddings. Van Cortlandt Park golf course is a great escape from the city within the city! Enjoy!

It's right on the lake which enhances the look as well. The set up outside was very nicely set up and it was great for 30-100 guests. I was the wedding officiant for the wedding so I'm into the overall appeal. I didn't stay for The food since I had another event to go to. But judging by the smells coming from the kitchen, it must have been good! The indoor room works wonderfully just in case the weather turned to rain or snow. I can see this as a great place to have your next function for any season!

First breakfast and they served it at the bar - not thinking this is typical during the warmer weather as ambient temps hovered around brisk 49*. Bacon, egg and cheese on a roll with salt & pep, a Coors light and a shot of Jack. Breakfast and lunch service by the young barkeep was outstanding. His company of chit chat and recommended Yonkers golf tracks was most welcome. Glancing around the glade, the course is well woven into the mountain side at a sneaky 6400 yards of sloping fairways as you descend. On the practice range an older local gentleman approached me and delivered a summary that I quickly took down in yellow Sharpie and I'm glad he did. Managing your game, hitting shorter accurate shots is the only way to survive out here. When the holes slopes left to right, ya gotta draw it into it and fade the opposite way for us righties as balls settle deeply in the bog where the turkeys roam. The greens looked to have been airated (punched) a week ago, so they were mostly healed up, but putts did bounce a bit -- keeping an honest line and were quick from the back. After battling light hail on 18 tee - a par 3 and the cold front that was it's predecessor from 15, the golf day was done, totally dispensing my prior opinion of mountain golf. Back in the clubhouse quaffing steins of Yonkers Ale and making merry again, one eye on the sports tele, one ear on the sizzle of my burger a mere ten feet away and a hand on the Jack that keeps apoearing before me by the fellow to my left. Each little cook temp preference I gave was written down line by line resulting in the EXACT meal I was envisioning -- so double credit to my attentive barkeep and to the chef with the kind face and happy smile that delivered a doosie of a burger and fries.

Place looks the same after all these years and it's a bit scary at night if you look across the road and wonder what's lurking in the woods .A food stand that actually has good food so I can stuff my face while hitting golf balls and while we are here a little batting practice and finishing up with some fun miniature golf before we hit the road . Good memories are back while visiting turtle cove golf center in the Bronx and after all these years them woods across the road still scares me .4.5 stars and I still stink at hitting golf balls .

I've been a weekend hacker for approximately 15 years of playing golf. My decision to start taking…read morelessons is largely due to COVID and not being able to snowboard (my main sport) for the year. I purchased a full package of lessons/fitting for a full year (25 lessons) My coach is Chris Sweet and he is an excellent coach. For the first two months, my swing was deconstructed into different parts and he does a great job of not overloading you with adjustments to make. During this time, my swing fell apart but it makes sense - especially if you understand the plateau of latent potential. From my initial swing evaluation to only 8 lessons and 10 weeks later, I've gained about 35 yards of carry distance on my 7 iron (130 yards to 165 yards) adding a nice draw into my shot shape and I haven't even gotten a club fitting yet. I think this speaks volumes about the quality of instruction I received with Chris. If you're familiar with learning something new and improving at it as quickly as possible, you'll know it takes commitment/practice on your part. They have a plethora of resources available to become a student of the game and continue learning even while you're not striking balls. Additionally, you can review past lessons and refer to them if something stops working with your swing which was critically important for me.

I paid for my classes which included being fitted for clubs yet I was never afforded the latter. I…read moresent multiple emails to arrange for the fitting and never received a response. Also the instruction I received seemed to be more confusing than helpful. Since I've completed classes there I've spent a lot of time reviewing YouTube videos and reading books and I realized my issue was my hands. If you're not holding the club correctly you will never get your form correct especially on the back swing. Once I figured this out, my swing improved dramatically. But this is something they should have been stressed at GolfTEC. I felt as though the instructor was disconnected insofar as training and was just "mailing it in." I'm not saying it was worthless because that would not be fair - there were some good pointers that I picked up there but I felt there should have been more emphasis on basic concepts that may have made a huge difference for me. Are they friendly? Absolutely. They were never rude. They were always genuinely friendly. My recommendation is read as much as you can in advance and watch as many videos as you can before you go there because I doubt if you will receive any strong technical explanation (no handouts were given at all just some scribble on a board in the room). It isn't worth it in my opinion. I honestly believe that , with a little training, I could explain more than I received: when you are not good at something and then figure things out you can readily share those pitfalls with others.
