I've been a weekend hacker for approximately 15 years of playing golf. My decision to start taking lessons is largely due to COVID and not being able to snowboard (my main sport) for the year. I purchased a full package of lessons/fitting for a full year (25 lessons) My coach is Chris Sweet and he is an excellent coach. For the first two months, my swing was deconstructed into different parts and he does a great job of not overloading you with adjustments to make. During this time, my swing fell apart but it makes sense - especially if you understand the plateau of latent potential. From my initial swing evaluation to only 8 lessons and 10 weeks later, I've gained about 35 yards of carry distance on my 7 iron (130 yards to 165 yards) adding a nice draw into my shot shape and I haven't even gotten a club fitting yet. I think this speaks volumes about the quality of instruction I received with Chris. If you're familiar with learning something new and improving at it as quickly as possible, you'll know it takes commitment/practice on your part. They have a plethora of resources available to become a student of the game and continue learning even while you're not striking balls. Additionally, you can review past lessons and refer to them if something stops working with your swing which was critically important for me. read more

I paid for my classes which included being fitted for clubs yet I was never afforded the latter. I sent multiple emails to arrange for the fitting and never received a response. Also the instruction I received seemed to be more confusing than helpful. Since I've completed classes there I've spent a lot of time reviewing YouTube videos and reading books and I realized my issue was my hands. If you're not holding the club correctly you will never get your form correct especially on the back swing. Once I figured this out, my swing improved dramatically. But this is something they should have been stressed at GolfTEC. I felt as though the instructor was disconnected insofar as training and was just "mailing it in." I'm not saying it was worthless because that would not be fair - there were some good pointers that I picked up there but I felt there should have been more emphasis on basic concepts that may have made a huge difference for me. Are they friendly? Absolutely. They were never rude. They were always genuinely friendly. My recommendation is read as much as you can in advance and watch as many videos as you can before you go there because I doubt if you will receive any strong technical explanation (no handouts were given at all just some scribble on a board in the room). It isn't worth it in my opinion. I honestly believe that , with a little training, I could explain more than I received: when you are not good at something and then figure things out you can readily share those pitfalls with others. read more

Terrible Customer Service. I called for an appointment because we couldn't book it on line despite the fact that the year is 2021. Filled out a form which did nothing so I called the Englewood location. When no one answered the phone, I opted for the National 800# where I was put on hold. Once I spoke to an operator, he proceeded to click through day by day into June for a 1 hour evaluation. It is now March. There was no way, according to the analog operator, for him to find the next available date. This went on for SEVEN painful minutes. I called the location directly for 10 minutes straight during working hours. Instead of speaking to me they would pick up and hang up the phone. They finally spoke to me after a relentless 10 minutes of calling to say the next available would not be until mid-summer. How is this an effective business model? Time to update your systems to the new millennium, hire and train effective staff and learn what decent customer service looks like because this is a major Fail on all fronts. read more

After 20+ years of being a below average golfer, I finally got fed up with the frustrations of being a "hack" on the golf course and called up GolfTEC in Englewood, NJ. I'm glad I did! I thought it was about time to give up "softball Sunday" and get my golf game in order. And, at 47 years old, I found myself getting invited to more and more golf outings and "business meetings" on the course. I was tired of being embarrassed out there. GofTEC has paid off immensely. After only a couple of lessons I was enjoying golf more than ever. I highly recommend this place and my instructor, Brendan Gorman. His analysis of my game has been spot-on. Very insightful. I don't know about other instructors out there, but I can only say good things about Brendan and my GolfTEC experience thus far. For the first time in my life, I feel like I'm actually "playing golf". And that's so much better than hacking around. Sure, I still hit a few clunkers, but I'm no longer bewildered and frustrated -- I'm analyzing why shots went the way they did, and I actually have a plan out there! That's the fun part for me. I will continue to go to GolfTEC to improve my game. I only wish the lessons could be on real grass instead of the indoor matts. Of course that's not practical, but I would pay more for that type of instruction - as any golfer knows, when you hit that perfect shot, it's priceless. That's all I can say. If you love an afternoon out with the guys or gals in a beautiful setting but you're not fully enjoying the game because you're searching for your ball in the woods all day, stop screwing around and learn how to play. Call GolfTEC - you won't regret it. And no, I don't work for them - just enjoying playing golf WITH SOME CONFIDENCE for the first time in my life. read more
