I came into Ace looking for a replacement lock for a filing cabinet. I was greeted and offered help as soon as I walked in. One worker was very helpful and creative trying to help solve my problem. He gave several options and was patient as I thought them through. In the end, he gave a solution that I would not have thought of and worked very well. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! They do NOT honor their warranties. Even if it's a warranty through a manufacturer. Especially if it's an item they no longer have on the shelf. The staff is trained to call the store manager to come to the counter to handle any and all returns so that he can DENY your return and/or warranty. He's also extremely unprofessional and rude and his work uniform was disgusting. Even the other employees were laughing at this guy behind his back and apologized when he walked away. DO. NOT. SHOP. This review and rating is all because of the manager that helped me, his name is Preston needham. I bought an electric mower two weeks ago so I could get my yard ready for my sons first birthday party. Within five minutes of using the craftsman mower the lever that adjust the wheels broke off and I was stuck and couldn't get the yard finished. I called the store, they directed me to craftsman, they directed me to Sears, they directed me to a repair service, who once again sent me back through the 1800 overseas call centers where we couldn't get anything accomplished. At my wits end, and with a wife panicking about the looming party I called the store one more time to see if anyone could help us... luckily we got Preston. He told me to email him my receipt and he would get it handled. The next day he called and said a new mower was on the way, he couldn't get it to me in time for the party, but it was on the way. We had to borrow a mower to get ready for the party, but he didn't leave us hanging. He did what he said he was going to do... very refreshing and not seen by this man to often these days. Thank you sir! We appreciate you stepping up and handling the problem, while being polite, respectful, and understanding. If you're lucky enough to have mr. What not to love about ACE? All you in home projects and beyond are at your fingertips when you walk into ACE. That the place where you'll find the (now "politically correct ") 'helpful hardware folks (used to be the helpful hardware man). And to say the truth, they are helpful and definitely not overbearing. For me personally it's a neighborhood hardware store that knows the people who shop there and their customers are customers for life. You'll find anything from paint, plumbing, yard/garden, through cleaning supplies, lighting/electrical, and all the way to hardware, tools and more to satisfy your shopping for a project at home or your work place. Oh, the even have car stuff. So yeah, I recommend you stop by next time you need something that they might carry and get to know those helpful folks. Never again. I go to the store to buy a piece of acrylic, their website says that store has it in stock. They ask me for the price ($37.99). I ask if they can cut it to size, the say yes. They go to the back of the store, after 10 minutes they bring me the panel. I go to the register to pay, they ring it up, over $70 dollars, I tell them no that's not correct, show them the item on their website of $37.99. They finally realize they cut the wrong type of acrylic. They tell me they'll go cut another panel of the correct material, they come back another 10 minutes later to tell me the website is wrong, they don't have it in stock. I offer to buy the one they cut for me, they tell me no, they can't sell that one for the same price as the correct material. So in the end after almost a half hour I leave with nothing. They screwed up, I offered to buy their screw up and they say no. Go to Lowes or Home Depot, will save you time and hassle. read more
