I am a customer of Silver Creek and have been for about 18 months now. It's a great place, and I've taken several folks there to buy direct. Mostly, I'll have a contractor pick up for me, or I'll buy some bags cause it's easy (Bulk is way cheaper if you need a lot!) ... They will even tell you that! They are big on doing the RIGHT thing for their customers. They take a long-term attitude to doing good business. So, today is the first time I've scheduled them for a delivery. Let's just say there was an account/paperwork 'SNAFU', and when I did not hear from them by ~12:30 I thought I better call, as they close @ 1:00. Glad I did. They had set up another account, and it had an error in the number and e-mail. Bummer. It was close to closing time.... They could have said "sorry about that, we'll call on Monday". But here's the deal. They didn't. Irma worked to recall a driver and Josh stepped up to manage the process. When I let them know that I had scheduled a crew to come out Sunday early to spread the dirt, they jumped into action. The made things happen fast. This is a testament to how they handle service and support. I was a bit disappointed at first, cause the contractor I am using wanted/needed the extra work. It's the holidays, and $$$ is tight for everyone. But they solved that ASAP. Silver Creek Materials for the Win! Also; many thanks to Senor' Sigala of Sigla's Trucking for a PRO DELIVERY! Thank you to the quick action of Josh, Irma, the driver & loader, and the entire Silver Creek Crew. They pulled this off ASAP! If you've never looked at everything they do, and what they sell, it's a treat. Well, to me anyway. It's a cool place to go visit if you care about your yard/lawn, landscaping, or if you are a gardener. Especially if you are a gardener! They are the place to go. I can tell you that with certainty. They are the biggest/best in DFW, and they have what I believe is the absolute best soil for gardening. Bella Flora. Pro Tip: If you visit them in person, when leaving, take the time to go into Fort Worth on Jacksboro Highway (199) into Fort Worth, take a right on University and a left on White Settlement. About 2 miles down on the right is Angelo's BBQ. Order a "Lean, sliced all the way with cheddar cheese' and enjoy some world class BBQ. Thank you to the team @ Silver Creek!

We are currently restoring a home built in 1895 and this store is like a buried treasure chest. There are SO many lighting options, old doors (for days!) fixtures, pieces, odds and ends... EVERYTHING you could possibly need for your old home. And the prices?! Literally beyond fair and reasonable. Finding 100 year old chandeliers for $1500??? That's an INCREDIBLE price as they can go for $15k. I recommend this store to antique lovers and old house owners. Don't be fooled by snarky reviews from those who have no business or respect being among such old beauty!

It's one of the few degreed grape growing & wine making programs in the country. And while I was in the Viticulture & Enology program I started exploring the surrounding areas & found the extremely beautiful, stunningly gorgeous rolling hills of North Texas wine country, Saint Jo, Muenster, Lake Murray, Arbuckle Mountains etc., I fell head over heels in love. Long story short, I found a little old farmhouse in the area on some land & decided that was where I was going to start my vineyard & Antique B&B, in North Texas wine country someday. Little did I know that would take 20 years LOL Well, as a Chef, it turned out, grape growing was not my talent, herbs & medicinal homeopathic medicine was. Yep, Cooking, gardening & making medicinal medicines & natural beauty products. My hubby's nickname for me is "Dr. Chef" Haha. I know, so corny. Anyway, so ambitiously without a care in the world, shouldn't take long I thought, I set out with my hair on fire to Chef, garden herbs, gut the farmhouse & rebuild it from scratch while I traveled the country working & collecting antiques along the way to build this dream of mine Antique B&B. 3 cottages was the plan. LOL 20 years later, that little dream of mine has now become a reality, mostly with the help of "Old Home Supply House." We bought a lot of cool stuff for the antique bathrooms from OHSH. I mean I looked all over the country and mostly found what I wanted right here in Ft. Worth for the antique bathrooms. For the guest bath, I wanted a old Brass antique free standing shower kit, that hangs from the ceiling, with small cast iron clawfoot tub all of which I got here. For the master suite, I wanted a antique brass & stainless steel faucet with two colored Gucci style shower phone handle, with a LARGE soaking cast iron antique claw foot tub, all of which I got here. Now, I didn't get them all at the same time. I collected it all over the years. It took a while to collect it all but it was worth it. You just Have to keep looking, searching & collecting. I made many trips to OHSH. Haha. Anyhoo, later, I found a tub guy in Dallas who refurbished the tubs. And he did a beautiful job. Then, Hubby installed them. It's been a interesting experience, Hubby & I wouldn't change a thing! We have enjoyed every second of living in Wine Country, Texoma area & rebuilding our old farmhouse. We are so very proud of it. We are completely "tickled pink." We just want to thank you guys so much for all your help in making our dreams a reality. We couldn't have done it without you. I didn't forget I told you guys last time I was there I would post some pics when we got the bathrooms done. Well, we did it! We finally finished them! LOL Thank you again Old Home Supply House! You are a dream maker. Working on Cottage #2! See ya soon! xoxo Highly highly recommend!

Staff clearly does not receive customer service training or direction on how to communicate clearly and set expectations for pricing, delivery, extra costs ($25 for the bags the rocks come in). I had a large landscaping order 3 tons+ of rocks but guess that is of no value to this company. Perhaps they're only interested in commercial business? Either way, the owner and managers should consider customer experience and how easily it would be to fix frustration and bad reviews by following their own quote " am owner of Big Tex Stone(Mike Hillman). I started this company to meet the needs of homeowners and landscape professionals. This is not just a job for my team and I but a passion. We truly love to make house beautiful." If this is passion I recommend focusing it on customer service. Post a pricing menu clearly with details like cost of product, packaging like the bag, delivery (by mileage), and provide written quotes. Staff appropriately and train your team how to handle the front desk and phones. The person I worked with watched me write down all his quotes and never offered to write it up himself. Then when I called to place the order a surly young woman answered who proceeded to give four different prices for the same amount moving from my original quote of $650 to $768, no wait $781, no wait $801.. it was ridiculous. When I asked to speak with the guy who first helped me he said he watched me write down the numbers but they were wrong. Wow - way to lie to and dismiss the customer while dodging responsibility completely. Big Tex -Your literally selling dirt and rocks and frankly, at comparable costs to other businesses. This isn't rocket science - simple math was beyond them and instead of solving the issue escalated it by being rude, dismissive, and careless. I was happy to give my business to Whiz Q Stone and would avoid this place at all costs.
