He took real time to understand what boards I currently ride and -- more importantly -- what I'm actually trying to get out of a new one. Patient, knowledgeable, and completely free of the condescension that can sometimes creep into shops like this. No ego, just genuine expertise. We narrowed it down to two models, and here's where Bird's went from great to extraordinary: rather than push me toward a decision, Bird offered to loan me one of his own personal boards to try out first. I really enjoy how honest and knowledgeable the staff is it really has made my husband and I feel good about picking boards. Boards are not cheap, they are definitely an investment and the right technology size, length, type all can make a huge difference. So I don't trust anywhere else to go but this place! o'neil wetsuits and products are horrific and their warranty worse. i bought a flagship "blueprint"…read morewetsuit (the higher end version of hyperfreak w 600$ msrp) and in 6 wks of use the seams in both ankles came apart. after many calls and time wasted talking them and their warranty department ,they suggested i keep using the torn wetsuit for now because their warranty department is too busy and only to send it to their warranty fixing department AFTER the holidays to fix and send back. this is a 600 dolar msrp wetsuit!! any other reasonable company would not have asked me to surf in winter with brand new wetsuit that fell apart in 6 weeks and then wait few more weeks for it to get hopefully fixed. just an absolute horrific company. oh working hours of their warranty fixing delartment are m-th 9am -3pm so impossible for me to drop off as working person.
