We started in their cozy tasting room with a nice pour of Sauvignon Blanc. We then made our way through down to the beautiful cellar and private tasting room. This is a beautiful vineyard. We only had 2 hours here. I wish we had more time to enjoy walking around their grounds. We requested a Nebiolo and she was able to make it happen. I really like their grenache rosé and their Nebiolo blend.

It's a very romantic cabin, too bad the weather didn't help us as it was cloudy at night, but we enjoyed it regardless. We enjoyed the wines here as well as the food. The restaurant Surgencia is delicious. If you like pork the tamarind ribs are delicious, but honestly you won't go wrong with any of the dishes. Chef Eduardo is simply amazing and he takes care of the diners making sure everything is perfect for you. The staff are all that way as well, you can tell they care about the customers and take great pride in their work. We will be back!!!

The cheese plate basically had all the same cheese spread around the plate. The ceviche was actually fine, with tiny bits of ahi tuna. If you had to eat here, get the ceviche, but otherwise, I don't think you'd be missing much not eating anything here. The wines were actually not that great either - too acidic, didn't have much finesse. I don't know. The wines were well made, very light-bodied, low alcohol, high acidity, and a higher salinity that you get from some Valle wines. Overall, they weren't to our taste, but we enjoyed our visit. Our waiter seemed more focused on getting us to order pricier items than on providing good service, and both the food and drinks took a long time to come out. The restaurant was not busy at the time, so I'm not sure why everything took so long. We were only a party of two, and our order was pretty basic: two cocktails, an appetizer, and two main courses. When it was time to pay, the bill came with a 20% tip already included. Nowhere did it say beforehand that gratuity would automatically be added. Considering the slow service, 20% seemed excessive. Even 15% would have been a lot for the level of service we received, but it would have felt more reasonable. I was thrown off by the experience but decided not to make a big deal about it at the time. Unfortunately, after having such a positive impression of El Cielo from my first visit, this experience left me disappointed, and it will probably be the last time I eat at the El Cielo restaurant.
