I hired Chris to remove my popcorn ceilings, repair and paint my ceilings for $1850. We had already removed 1/3 of the popcorn ceilings in our house ourselves and were left with nice, smooth drywall, so we knew what was underneath them. He said he could have 4 guys do this job in 3 days, all I needed to supply was paint & primer. We had scheduled this project to begin Sunday at 10am. At 10:30 i asked Chris where he was, said he was "picking up the help" and arrived at noon, 2 hours late, on his first day. I knew then that this would definitely not be a 3 day job because he only showed up with 2 guys besides himself. The first thing he asked me was if I had a roller for the paint. This is odd he would come to paint without having a roller. I was worried. I had somewhere to be and popcorn removal is a dusty job so I left and came back 3 hours later... 3 hours later I come back and they're still working away. Everything was a mess so I glanced and saw they were still working. Asked him when they'd be done for the day and he said at 5. I was pretty surprised they were only working for 5 hours but he was a nice guy and I trusted him because he sounded like he knew what he was doing. I left and came back shortly after they were done. A metal door stopper of mine was in my front yard and my hose was on for god knows how long, probably all day. Walked in the house, everything was a mess. I could tell they tried to cleanup but also that they had not covered anything in plastic because everything was white like the ceiling. Then I saw the ceiling... which was soaking wet, pieces of the ceiling had fallen down and were hanging. They had already primed the ceiling! In 5 hours they had removed, plastered and primed my ceiling??? It looked like CRAP! The popcorn wasn't removed fully off the ceiling and they had painted primer over it. You could tell there was wet plaster with primer over it. I was horrified! Everything about this was horrific, I literally cried. I worked so hard to buy this villa, I've been working on it myself because I'm a handyman's daughter and I know how to, and like to do construction. However, I hired this guy because I'm 7 months pregnant and this is a lot of work that at this point I'd rather pay someone else to do in a quick manner. This guy violated my house. Also, we put tape on the bottom of our closet and someone went into our master closet and there was popcorn smeared on our clothes! They took my decorative towel that was inside a bathroom and used it to clean up paint! They took the mop I use for my house and used it to clean the popcorn off the floor!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! We fired them the next day! Chris never apologized, only made a million excuses, even blamed us for the work that they did claiming he didn't have enough lighting... um, you showed up at noon and left at 5, there were lights in every single room. No apologies, all excuses! The work should look good from start to finish my friend! I've already started repairing ceilings myself and in 1 day, my work looks better than Chris' and this isn't my full time job, I'm doing this on my days off. AND IM PREGNANT. Do you know what Chris told me? If I want smooth ceilings I need new ceilings. We gave a $500 deposit and asked for $150 back. Chris refused so I've filed a dispute with my bank to get ALL my money back. The work that they did has made it more difficult to fix the ceilings. I regret ever choosing him. An apology and even a partial refund would have gone a long way with me. Now I just feel robbed. read more

Too often handymen get a bad rep in S FL these days, but that's not the case with Chris. Chris is professional, pleasant to work with and best of all able to do just about anything! I've hired him to finish and fix the work that other deplorable folks had done at my mom's condo. The work entailed misc jobs, like finishing an enclosure, to finishing baseboards, fixing the placements of kitchen cabinets, to pulling tile behind a shower head to tighten up the badly done plumbing, then refinishing that section.
