They also told me of some local places to do some x-country skiing in the area. I know nobody is thinking of skiing right now but these people know what they are doing. The absolute worst customer service my husband and I have ever experienced. We walked in right at opening sharp - the door was unlocked - and the woman working snapped, "we are not open yet". Then my husband politely states "we are here to rent x-skiis" to which the woman repies "you and the 28 people behind you". (there were two) It got worse....too much to type. Beware going in here unless you are prepared to spend a lot of money for extremely terrible work. Totally ripped off! Brought in two pairs of skis to be tuned and bindings adjusted. Nothing wrong with either pair, mine are brand new. Their website states tuning starts at $35. They didn't tell us a price when we dropped them off. A week later my fiancé picks them up and they charged us a total of $120. For what? They ground the base right off the bottom of his skis and had nothing to say for it!!! Now his skis will need to be replaced after this season completely unnecessarily!!!! Unbelievable!!!! Poor customer service, complete rip off, totally unsatisfied. What a shame since there really aren't any ski shops around this area. We will not be returning. read more

I came here to get my snowboard waxed and sharpened. The young girl that was working there was so incredibly rude. I told her I was there to pick up my board. She turned into a complete bitch and gave me the biggest attitude about it. I handed her my slip and she says "name?" That was it, just one word. So I say my first name and then she kicks me huge attitude and then insultingly laughs at me and says "um last name" rolling her eyes. It was borderline hilarious but I also wanted to lose it on her. Then she brings the board out and puts in on my foot. Literally sets it on my toe!! I awkwardly have to pick it up and set it somewhere else besides my foot . Then the total bill was 41.00 for a wax and sharpen. It was insane, I've never paid that much for a wax. The only reason this place is busy is because there is no other ski/snowboard shop around. I recently brought two boards here to get a "full tune". This includes a stone grind, sharpen edges and wax the base. In addition, one of the boards had a gash down to the wood core that needed repair. Here is what happened- 1) The repair was done poorly. The p tex was not applied with a base welder, but rather by hand. I can tell because there is a bunch of black spots in the repair. This indicates uneven heating of the p tex resulting in carbon build up. 2) I noticed that both bases were waxed poorly and/or un even. 3) This cost $35 per board. I asked to talk to the shop guy and got a bunch of shop guy attitude. I asked a few questions about how the boards were tuned and got a sorted tale. He told me how much his waxer cost and assured me that my furry base was "impregnated" with wax. This shop is for people who don't know the difference between a good tune and a rip off. They have nice equipment, but either don't know how to use it or (more likely) rushed my gear and figured I wouldn't notice. On a good note- The edges were sharp. I believe they were done with a ceramic edger. The best tool because it sharpens and hardens the edge. However both boards needed de tuning on the tip and tail to be ridable. Excellent! Brought my snowboard in for a tune on Monday. they gave me a reciept & told me it would be done Friday. they said they do not call you to tell you when it is done but that it would be done friday. great. planned to picked it up friday. i went to pick it up and told them i was interested in new bindings. the staff member took me right to the back and showed me every single womens binding they had and compared to mens and told me which ones he likes and why. he also made sure i knew that the cheapest pair they have they were out of stock at the moment. i picked a pair they had in stock and he put them on right there! also asked if i had my boots in my car (which i happened to) and i brought one in and he fitted it on the board! all in 10 minutes. i cant speak for everyone, but for me the tune and bindings that i picked wete affordable. will absolutely be returning in the future if needed. read more

Fantastic customer service and very knowledgeable staff. Even though I live in Boston now, I still come here for all my ski gear. I rented a pair of skis from the Sports Stop which I damaged while skiing in the woods. The damage occurred only three days before I was flying out to Colorado to go skiing, and I was really worried I would not have a pair of skis in time for my trip. I brought the skis back to the Sports Stop and they replaced them with fresh rentals of the same make and model on the spot. They usually have only a few people working, so they can get busy on the weekends especially, but they always take car of you and provide excellent service. read more

Went to the Sports Stop for some new tennis shoes and to check out the racquets. I spent some time listening to one of their tennis sales people, Barbara, as she assisted two parties who were ahead of me. She was very knowledgeable, took her time to cater to each customer, and took a consultative approach rather then just trying to sell something. When it was my turn, she assisted me in finding the right shoe for me. Then she listened to my questions about racquets and appropriately asked me about my current stick, my game, and what I was looking to improve on. Barbara really knew her stuff! She even saved me some money by enrolling me in their loyalty program. I made the 45 minute drive to Sports Stop because a couple of friends of mine recommended the place, and Barbara in particular. Worth my drive! If you want to talk to people who know tennis before you buy, and you want very competitive prices to boot, this is the place. I bought 2 new pairs of tennis shoes, and I will return to demo a few racquets soon! read more

When you first walk in your first impression is not that of a ski shop, the store looks remarkably Beige and old, and none of the fixtures match. But mom always said never judge a book by its cover. The customer service is great. My initial response was to walk out and head to a more established shop. But an employee greeted me pretty much at the door and directed me towards the Skis in the back room. I had wandered in looking for demos which he informed me they didn't have. He did however go on to recommend some places up near the area I would be skiing (loon) that might offer them. I picked his brain for a little while last tuesday on what he might suggest I try compared to the ski I was looking for. As I sit here I just got back from testing this weekend and his suggestions were excellent. What impressed me most was knowing that I wasn't interested in purchasing he still took the time to chat with me for a good 15 minutes and gave me some really good recommendations. To the point where, assuming they aren't going out of business (which he informed me they weren't), I'll be buying my next skis and boots from them next winter. So I rate them 4 out of 5. It doesn't feel or look like a ski shop... But if the rest of the staff is as helpful as him, then that's all that matters. read more

Just rented skis for my 5&6year olds for the season. It was over $325 including insurance for the skis, which I think is absurd. I went with all of my kids, including my 18-month-old. There were only two other people in the shop and we still waited over half an hour for my kids to try on boots and skis. After 30 min of holding a squirming kid, I let him down and run around the store. That's when the employees stopped having their side conversations and started helping us. The people were pretty rude. Buyer beware: You try on the skis and will have to go back one week later to pick them up. read more

Based on a recommendation from a friend we went to get some ski boots. My wife has a tender ankle and her current boots were bothering her. These guys were great and helped us make the right ski and boot decisions to best suit her needs. In my experience no place stays open as long as these guys have been around without providing good service.
