The first time I went in looking for ice skates, I tried to flag a staff member for help and was lingering in the skate area for a good 20 mins. It wasn't busy, but I got fed up and just left. Today I went in again looking for shoes expecting the same treatment, but I thought I would give it another shot since it had been a year. I wanted to try on some shoes and went around the mens section eye balling staff as they dashed past but still nothing. It wasn't super busy being a Tuesday afternoon, but again I gave up - this time frustrated! Rather than giving up on Spot Chek altogether as I think it's just this store that has poor customer service, I went to the East Hills location instead. I was helped within 2 minutes and the staff checked on me to see the shoes were fitting right and bring me more options. I spent more than I planned which is good for business right! I want to love the 130th location as it's convenient, but please up your customer service experience.

Mike answered all of my questions and explained everything to me in terms I could understand. For the record, I am an intelligent woman. Smiles. He went out of his way to track down an item for me online, contacted the gentleman selling it and before I knew it was driving to pick it up. I was thankful, as Mike saved me a great amount of money and time. Throughout the month, he has been good enough to message me to keep me " in the loop" as to when the boxing shoes would be in for me to pick up. I mean, who does that! Grateful!

Being the stylish lady that I am, I also like to look good on the slopes. I'm pretty sure that the ski cellar has existed in Calgary for time immemorial, but their website says fifty years. Well, that's still a lot older than I am! This is the place my dad first took me to gear up when I was learning to ski, and I like to go back because of their excellent selection of gear. They have tons of stuff: jackets and goggles and balaklavas and my personal favourite, toques. They have a ton of actual gear too: boots and bindings and skis and snowboards for both adults and kids, which makes it a pretty good destination for individuals but an excellent one for families. The smart shopper catches their sales in the spring, but if you're just getting into winter sports the prices are pretty reasonable. I definitely have some love for the Ski Cellar Snowboard, and this is one of my favourite locations.

Funny thing is friends recommended this store as they purchased from here as beginners and had received good customer service but we were not afforded the same treatment. Avoid this entitled and snobby shop at all cost and save yourself the humiliation. Edit: We went to Sport Chek, great customer service but inventory was low. Proceeded to go to Sporting Life and we got fully kitted for our next ski trip. Too bad, this was a sure sale for SkiWest.
