The standout for me was the Holiday Ham breakfast sandwich, and it absolutely lived up to its name. Built on a flaky buttermilk biscuit, it layers a light, fluffy egg soufflé with thinly sliced ham, praline bacon that adds just the right touch of sweetness, and a cranberry orange jam that ties everything together with a bright, unexpected pop. Every bite tasted thoughtful and seasonal without being overcomplicated--comfort food elevated. I paired it with Jennie's Dolce seasonal espresso drink, and it was so good I immediately wanted another. Even more impressive? The second one tasted just as perfect as the first--a small detail that says a lot about their consistency and care behind the bar. The coffee shop ambience immediately stands out, with a relaxed yet polished vibe that makes it just as ideal for a casual morning as it is for catching up on work or meeting friends. Service was warm and efficient, and you can tell this place has become a staple in the downtown community. If you appreciate creative twists on classic breakfast favorites and expertly crafted coffee drinks, Black & Brew is well worth the stop. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.

    Evano's Pizzeria - 18" pepperoni pizza

We called and placed our order for an 18" pepperoni pie and were quoted 15 minutes. A quick drive over left us a little confused in the parking lot. Evano's appears to share a storefront with Britt's Cafe. Not a big deal but the signage on the door said they were closed but the neon sign said open. I tried the door, walked in and was quickly greeted. I paid for my order and off we went towards home, the great smell of garlic wafting through the truck. The pizza has more of a flat crust and foldable but we found the amount of cheese to be a little short than edge-to-edge. The cupped pepperoni we were looking for was less than expected as well with each of the huge pizza slices only having 3-4 pieces. The sauce was good - not too spicy and not to sweet - and there was a garlic butter basted on the outside edge. In all it was pretty good but if ordered again I'd definitely ask for double pepperoni.

When I heard that's what Evano's used, I wanted to give them a try. Tonight I ordered an 18" 3 cheese with pepperoni and hamburger, a 10" 3 cheese and buffalo tenders. This was the single worst pizza I have had, in all of Central FL, since moving to FL 11 years ago. The sauce was more like tomato paste, dry and thick. The cheese had no flavor, obviously not whole milk. The crust may of been decent, in the right hands. Whatever oven they use to cook it in needs cleaning, as all the pizzas had the flavor of phantom toppings (peppers, onion, etc). It was actually stomach churning bad. Tossed all of it in the trash. Don't even ask about the tenders

On hindsight, I should have parked and went inside, but was too tired and went through the drive-thru instead. Big mistake. That was so slow, people were turning their vehicles off. There is no way to exit the line, once you are in, so you are stuck. I'm not sure exactly how long I was in that line, but it was one of the longest I've experienced. I ordered an original gyro meal that comes with fries and a soda and I asked for an extra cup of tzatziki sauce. When I got home, it was still hot and fresh - definitely just made. The fries were good, had a nice seasoning on them. Unfortunately my diet soda was a regular. The tzatziki sauce was the blandest I've ever tasted. The gyro itself was generous in size and the pita was soft. Unfortunately the taste was very average. If I had not tried a Gyro before then perhaps I would've enjoyed it, but I've had very good and I've had very poor and this one truly rates average in taste. Maybe I'll be back to try something else?
