My kid's school was having a fair complete with food truck "rally" (does it count as a rally if there are only 4 food trucks?). There were massive lines for the other 3 trucks, so we ended up at Jimmy's. I ordered two orders of the fried shrimp. My order was done in less than 10 minutes, which was pretty good for a food truck. The fried shrimp is 6 pieces, and it's $12. For $2 more, you get a generous side of fries. The shrimp was huge and sweet. The french fries were thick and well fried, although they were overly salty. You are offered tartar sauce or cocktail sauce. I asked for just ketchup and received nothing. This is a pretty efficient food truck, and I think the prices are reasonable. The shrimp was good, although the fries were salt bombs. The rest of the menu is very crab-heavy (most items are topped with crab), which might or might not appeal to you (it didn't for my family). read more

Great crab cake burger! I found this food truck when I had an event at Brew Hub. Since I was going to be there for three hours, I figured I needed to nourish myself with a bit of grub first. I'm glad this was the truck that was there because it was definitely satisfying! I got the crab cake burger and it was delicious. There was a good amount of crab in it and the bun was very sturdy. I added fries on for an additional dollar. The fries were solid, but I find my true test for fries it whether I would eat them without any dipping sauce. It didn't have enough seasoning or flavor so I ended up needing ketchup. They were crispy and nicely fried though. I was surprised that adding fries was only a dollar. That's a pretty awesome deal. Since I am from MD now living n FL. I miss any form of crab. We can't get fresh crabmeat, soft shells or had shells. I have ordered from Jimmys 3 times this season. They are very professional on their delivery system. You pick the date and it arrives as scheduled packed with plenty of ice blocks. It was a great surprise to get printed newsprint, mallets and extra seasoning. ***Update*** I totally rushed this review yesterday because I was in such a hurry to get the word out about this food truck being at Ray Jay. I just wanted to add that their food is the same as Jimmy's Famous Seafood in Maryland. The one that was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. It's a family owned and run business. One of the son's (the chef of the family) moved to the Bartow/Lakeland area and decided to start up a food truck business. This is the express version of that restaurant in Baltimore. The one that is famous for their crab cakes, and so much more. I'm telling you this because I was so impressed with that sandwich. I thought it was going to be messy trying to eat it, but it all stayed together quite well. Which is surprising with the thickness of the crab cake. I didn't even get to take a picture of it. My husband and I devoured our sandwiches in a matter of minutes (before entering the gate at Ray Jay). It had just the right amount of spice, and the bun was a very good quality. Yes, this is the real deal! A true Maryland crab cake. Hey, I'd definitely do it all over again in a heartbeat. I hope I see them at the Saints/Bucs pregame next weekend. This is a great food truck that was stationed at the New Tampa beer festival this past weekend. They were quick, efficient, friendly and the food was awesome. We had the fried soft shell crab sandwich and the burger topped with crab dip filled with crab meat. They were both absolutely delicious and filling, came with French fries as well. Reasonably price the lady at the front was very sweet and efficient. They didn't have the longest line because their food came out nice and quick. They are located in the Lakeland /Bartow area but if you see this food truck in your area as they do go everywhere in the Tampa area, make sure you check them out. Made a special trip yesterday to Grove Roots partially to try Jimmy's. It was the right call for sure. The Grouper Sandwich and upgrades Crabby Fries pictures here hit the spot. The Grouper had a nice fluffy and light breading that I enjoyed but the Crabby Fries were out of this world with a rich sauce, Old Bay Seasoning and generous chunks of crab meat on top. The upgrade was only $3 so don't be cheap and miss out! I thought the prices were fair with my meal clocking in at $16. Service was quick and friendly. They accept credit cards and use Square. I really hate to leave a 2 star review, given they've got so many higher ratings. Maybe it's just not for us. We caught Jimmy's at the Lakeland Food Truck Rally. The Rally is my favorite. It's a great opportunity to support small businesses and to try new things. I'm a sucker for a good fish taco so I ordered the Mahi tacos. It was $8 for two tacos, which is about on par with food truck food. But, they were super tiny. And barely any mahi. I had to dig through one of them to even find any. I assume it was just a mistake. The tacos themselves were also super bland. As with every food truck rally, it was SUPER busy, so I'm going to guess my order was either rushed or they'd just made a mistake with it. There are lots of other options for food trucks at the rally, so I don't know that I'd try Jimmy's again.... but if I did, I wouldn't get the tacos. Maybe that grouper sandwich! read more

A Taste of MD in Tampa! How excited was I!? Being a Virginia native, I've grown up trying all types of crab cakes, my favorite of course being the Chesapeake Blue Crab. I'm used to jumbo lumps in my crab cakes and a nice kick of old bay. I've got to tell you, Jimmy's did not disappoint. Originally established in Maryland, the company has expanded and made its way down to Tampa. The food truck came to my office for a rally and I've got to say at first I was a little skeptical of "food truck seafood", but they boasted the best crab cakes in Tampa so of course I had to try. As you can see in the picture, I couldn't wait to try it. The amazing aroma permeated my area. The crab cake itself seemed a little small to me at first, then I realized it was more full than I expected. Perfect ratio of crab meat, just "lumpy" enough. It held together beautifully, and the sauce underneath it was to die for. The slight zing was a perfect accompaniment. I'm still kind of drooling typing this out. I also added fries for a couple bucks more and they were seasoned perfectly, old bay is my favorite. As for service, the woman was super nice and everything took about 8-10 minutes total, but I did not mind at all. Price wise, a little pricey to me before I realized how much crab had been used. Back home and set to it. Grouper Sandwich Kung Pao Shrimp Tacos Maryland Crab Cake Jumbo Crab Pretzel Three of us eating. A lot of sighs around the table. No real conversation other than Wow!, Amazing, So much flavor, You've gotta try this. The grouper sandwich was a large portion. Perfectly cooked. Light brown and crunchy on the outside. Flaky perfection on the inside. No sauce required. The shrimp tacos were outstanding. The sauce was great. The shrimp were huge. The crab cake was outstanding. We took it out of the bun so that the bun would not detract from the flavor. The pretzels were were also very good. The crab dip was a good combination. Everything served with fries So much food. I went to place with a girlfriend before corona got really crazy . Idk what happen the day I went but the food was not good. It tasted too fishy like it had gone bad but they decided to give it out anyway. We bought a reasonable amount of food because we love seafood and wanted to try everything but after a couple of bites We ended up tossing everything in the trash (yes it was that bad). Went back the second time explained the previous situation and got an attitude from an employee. Ordered the same again and got home with another wrong order with beef, which we don't eat. Currently at the food truck festival in timonium Maryland, the crab fires were awful. Ten dollars for a crab fry and there is maybe 5 small potatoe wedges with a tablespoon of crab dip/ more like a crao paste it was awful the employees are rude. If your employees and products are designed to promote your company you should be far more concerned I will never go to any of there locations nor will I order from your food truck ever again! read more

We enlisted the expertise of the Tampa Bay Food Truck Association for our Wedding April 27, 2019 in Land O' Lakes, FL. Jimmy's Famous Seafood Express is 1 of nearly 30 Food Trucks in the association and we selected 2 of their trucks for our menu due to their impeccable food! Jimmy's truck provided an array of seafood that rightfully earned more compliments then my wife's wedding dress! The grouper melted in your mouth, the kung pao shrimp tacos were the star of the show, and the crab cakes made me blush! I wish I had words for the quality of food this truck delivers! I found out that they are of Greek decent, as am I, and I was able to thank them in our native language! We will be frequenting this truck for years to come and enlisting them for future celebrations as a result of their attention to detail with flavor, passion, and love! BRAVO! Efharisto para poli!!!
