They're finally becoming like any other vet. I came here as soon as it opened & loved the welcoming feeling & mission statement. After my recent visit I'll be looking for a new vet! I Called to let them know I was running 5-7minutes late & was told I'd be fine up until 10 minutes. I arrived and was ecstatic I made it & showed her my phone 3:39! (Federal traffic was a niI was told at this point I was already over half way through my 3:30 appointment. I was hoping to get her vaccine & be on my way after a 40 minute drive, but instead was rudely turned away. I believe the vets here are probably still great & really care about all their pet patients, but the lady at the front desk was rude & on a power trip. I was willing to make the drive after moving further south, but will be looking for something closer now. Response: As we previously discussed I will not be returning to your practice. The fact that you weren't following your own protocols is what was frustrating and a waste of our time. The vets were wonderful, whoever answers your phone and deals with customers as they come in who needs the improvement/training.

What a great experience! I have 2 VERY different dogs. One very outgoing and social and the other terrified of everything. The staff at the Highlands location was amazing with both! They were able to handle both and get vaccines and blood work done! So happy with the location and the nurses and doctors thourough attention to everything. They answered all my questions and took so much time!

We love the Highlands location! The staff are thorough and take the time to take to talk through any questions we have. We really appreciate having the option to text anytime with questions about appointments, medications, scheduling, etc. Although we aren't guaranteed to see the same vet each visit, the intake form and staff's review before makes appointments seamless with going through everything together!

Sploot handles things in a unique way. My dog had a ruptured anal gland on a Sunday. I was extremely worried. He had an anal gland abscess before but this was worse. Not knowing what to do, I took him to a groomer to see if they could express it. They refused to service him and said I need to go to a vet. On Sunday options are very limited. I went to one on 22nd and Wadsworth, they told me to call when I arrived and someone would come get my dog. I waited an hour, no one ever called. After a very bad experience with the animal hospital on 44th and Wadsworth (after waiting 3hrs they said it was a tumor.. when it was actually an anal gland abscess) I didn't want to go there . I called another animal hospital in Arvada, they had good reviews so I thought I'd try them. But they said I could take him but I'd have to wait with him. The wait time was over 4 hours. Very worried about the condition of my dog I called sploot. They seemed to care. They answered friendly and quickly. They said they were busy and weren't sure they could take another walk in. I explained what my dog was experiencing and she said she would check with the doctor to see if they could take care of him. Thankfully they fit him in! The atmosphere they create is relaxing. Very clean and they have spa like music on. They checked me in quickly and asked me some questions. They let me drop off my dog rather than wait which was nice. I was so worried I started crying and they were very reassuring and nice. They stayed connected and called and texted me updates on how he was doing. They continued to offer support. In the end my dog was taken care of and is doing much better. Great hours for unexpected issues! Continuous support Thorough information Trustworthy

Best place to bring your pup in for the first exam since everyone so friendly and lovely!!

    Free treats

Super clean clinic, staff was really friendly. What I love is the treats to make my dog listen. They also have free tennis balls!!

We moved from Seattle to Albuquerque June 2022. Our 5-yr old German Shepherd had just been diagnosed with end stage liver disease and had begun needing abdominocenteses, a procedure where accumulated fluid is removed from the abdomen. Every 3-5 weeks, 2-4 liters of fluid would accumulate and have to be removed. We had it done at a Blue Pearl facility in Seattle/Kirkland three times before we moved, and it was very stressful for her until the last time when the vet used a different technique and let me be with her, so we could avoid any sedative or drugs, which is imperative when the liver isn't functioning well. We got to Albuquerque, and the first new patient appt at our chosen clinic was 10 weeks out, and the ERs in ABQ didn't perform this procedure. Since we'd had so much good care at Blue Pearl in Seattle/Kirkland, we searched for a Blue Pearl locally. The closest were Phoenix and Denver. We chose to drive the 8 hrs up to Denver. Because fluid accumulation is unpredictable, we can't always go to our vet in ABQ even now. The procedure takes an hour, so the vet can't fit you in between other appts, so we've had to go to Blue Pearl Lakewood 4 times now. Each time we've seen Dr. Jill Bull, and each time her assistants have been remarkable. All the intake staff and medical staff have been professional, efficient, very compassionate, kind... We've interacted with many different support staff on the phone and in person since last July and have only had good to exceptional experiences with everyone. Dr. Bull is everything I look for in a vet. On our first visit, she listened to our 3 prior experiences with the procedure and agreed to use the other technique that had worked so well for our dog the last time in Seattle. She cared more for our dog's well-being than doing it the "easy" way. Dr. Bull is a fantastic vet. She listens, she considers, she's professional, kind, compassionate, clearly skilled in technique, patient and adaptable to situations as they develop. Because our dog was not sedated, and we had to keep her still for an hour, things changed often, and Dr. Bull and her tech (Bree was beyond fantastic) took all in stride and made everything work well. Our dog was calm, and all has gone very well all 4 times despite different circumstances each time. Our 4th visit was Jan 6, 2023, and Dr. Bull told us she'd recently been made facility director for Blue Pearl Lakewood. Finally, the right person for the right job - she'll still be treating patients, so it's a win-win for all. I hate HMOs, but back in Seattle during COVID, Blue Pearl was the only place that allowed me inside with my dog, which is why I chose them over everyone else. They were super strict with COVID protocol, but they knew you can only give exceptional care if the animal's person is directly involved, not just talking on the phone as they wait for hours in their car in the outside parking lot. I have been deeply pleased with Blue Pearl's clearly putting the animal's welfare over their own convenience, and the ensuing care my dog received at Blue Pearl Kirkland/Seattle was excellent as well as at Blue Pearl Lakewood, CO. I can't say enough good about Blue Pearl, wherever I've gone. Maybe now that they've taken over in Lakewood, the bad reviews will only be about money (ER visits are rarely cheap.) And btw, although the fee is higher at Blue Pearl Lakewood ER for the procedure than at my local vet (not an ER in Albuquerque), it's still very reasonable. (It's half what I was paying at Blue Pearl Seattle.)

For our recent visit, I had called around and shared information about our dog's injury. She had sliced her paw open on metal, garden edging. I asked each place I called what their wait times were and their base rate for bringing a dog in for emergency services. Blue Pearl/ACC, had the shortest wait and we're slightly less expensive. In reading the reviews, I had to gauge if this was our best option. However, our vet told us that for a wound like the one our dog had, it should be addressed within a couple of hours, so I went with Blue Pearl. I was not disappointed. My vet's office advised me to request a vet tech assessment before deciding the best course of action. Blue Pearl was happy to oblige. Danielle almost immediately took our dog back and returned a short while later to inform me that my dog had cut her paw open to the bone. I agreed to have them address the wound surgically. The vet who assessed the wound, and ultimately did the surgery, was David Burnett, DVM. I was provided an itemized estimate and had to pay the exam fee. I was able to use my Care Credit which really helped, since the total cost was just under $1k. Care Credit will allow me 6-months, interest free to pay the balance. Having several animals, including a horse, I knew an emergency visit/surgery would be expensive and wasn't surprised by the cost. I felt like all of my questions were answered by the staff and that my plea to Danielle to take good care of our dog was heeded. Dr. Burnett was friendly and patient with my questions. Our dog was ready to be picked up within a few hours and we were provided medications and great instructions for her aftercare. We were instructed to have the sutures removed in 2-weeks. I waited to write this review until that time came, because I figured if our vet gave our dog's recovery a thumbs up, then this place deserved 5-stars. I am an informed consumer and not afraid to ask questions that ensure I and my pets receive respectful and proper care. I am happy to recommend Blue Peal to others. Our sweet pup is back up, and literally running, because of their great care.

The team in charge of my rabbits care were exceptional - knowledgeable, communicative, helpful. However, I have noticed pricing has gone up substantially, especially for "companion" rabbits. My rabbit was brought in initially by himself and hospitalized for a few days before I was able to bring his bonded friend. The staff all commented on how much happier, calmer and overall better my ill rabbit seemed with his friend with him. What I was charged for the "companion" rabbit was astonishing. $2,500 for less than 48 hours. A rabbit who stayed in the same enclosure as my ill rabbit and was healthy. Did not need any medical treatment or intervention. I wanted to write this review so that others who may be in the same situation with a bonded pair are prepared for the cost. My total bill for my ill rabbit was very high, but I can more easily justify it based on the care he was receiving. My "companion" rabbits bill - I am extremely disappointed about. I brought my dog, Lupo, there during a medical emergency while we were traveling from North Carolina, and what followed was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. We were already in a state of panic, far from home, trying to make the best decisions we could. Despite that, there was a profound lack of communication, compassion, and transparency throughout his care. We were never offered the option to stay in any rooms, just to rest for a little. Being 45 minutes away while our dog was critically ill created unnecessary distance during the most important moments of his life. The most devastating part is that we were only contacted when things had already taken a severe turn, and that call was not a supportive update, but a frantic, high-pressure conversation where I felt like I was being almost yelled at that he needed to be euthanized immediately. There was no sense of guidance, no compassion just urgency without support. We were not called earlier as he declined, and we were not given a real opportunity to come and be with him in time. Because of this, I lost the chance to have any meaningful final moments with my dog. By the time we were involved, he had been intubated. That was not what I wanted unless it was absolutely necessary as a life-saving measure, and it ultimately robbed me of being able to hold him, comfort him, or say goodbye in a way that had any meaning. That is something I will carry with me forever. When we last saw him, he was placed all the way at the bottom of a cage. It felt impersonal and distressing given how critical his condition was. There was no sense that comfort or dignity in his final moments was being prioritized. To make matters worse, a necropsy (autopsy) was performed without our explicit consent. This was incredibly upsetting and felt like a violation during an already devastating time. The lack of clear communication and consent around something so significant is completely unacceptable. After his passing, the handling of his remains and the lack of communication continued to cause harm. Because of delays and inability to reach anyone, his body was not released to the memorial service we had chosen in time for us to receive his ashes before our flight home. We were forced to extend our stay, rebook flights, and incur additional expenses... all while grieving the loss of our baby. I understand this is a teaching hospital and that not every case has a positive outcome. But communication, compassion, and respect for both the patient and their family should never be optional. At no point did I feel supported, informed, or prioritized as his owner. Lupo was my world. He deserved better. And no family should have to go through what we experienced here. There was no compassion in here. There was only a severe urgency to give us a large bill.
