I'd like to start off by saying, I'm very intentional when I travel to support LOCAL businesses…read more That being said I was excited I found this salon and they where able to squeeze me in same day for a blowout. Unfortunately upon arriving, I was greeted by the receptionist who check me in clearly seeing I had my daughter with me and told me I could have a seat and wait. After waiting 10-15mins, I was then greeted by the stylist who should have done my service to be told they have a strict NO CHILDREN or guest policy and that the policy was sent over to me prior to the appointment via email. That if I could have someone pickup my daughter and they could perform the service. First I would like to address the fact the policy was not sent to me via email because upon booking they did not ask for my email. Secondly how disappointing that this is a women owned business and they chose to implement a no children policy. Sadly I can not base this review on a service that was performed but only on customer service and policy and I would not recommend this business based solely on the policies and the way this situation was handled.

From the initial phone call to the same day appointment even while having a busy schedule (good for…read moreEmily), she found time to squeeze me in, and my daughter, and exceeded my expectations. She does african american/ethnic hair in a top tier fashion, very personable with people that walked in as well as on the phone who called to inquire her services. Lovely conversation the entire way through, and I haven't even said anything about the actual service which alone is over 5 stars. Explaining the process and answering any questions and concerns during the washing, solution treatment, cutting, etc. and seeing the results as they were happening was very nice. The atmosphere of her salon is warm welcoming and Emily will be me and my kids permanent hair stylist. God is good, thank you Jesus for linking us up together and you will not be disappointed in her as your hair stylist too! Oh and in case you were wondering what service I received, I was growing my hair out for a few years and I got tired of my hair curling every day after long distance running (been running 11+ years) sweat, so Emily provided permanent hair straightening, a blow out, dead/split end cutting, and layering. The results are amazing, and even the very next day I went for a run, sweated like crazy, but when I went inside, I let my hair naturally dry and it went back to being straight.. No washing, conditioning, blow drying, or flat iron needed. Emily also provided a free after care kit with shampoo, conditioner, and detangler!

I am new to Pittsburgh and was looking for a new salon to take my bright red hair back to a natural…read morebrown color. My expectations for the color were low so when my finished hair came out black, I wasn't too surprised. That's not necessarily where my issue lies though. Upon the initial consultation over the phone, I made it clear that my hair had a long history when it came to its color, which was why I was requesting a color correction and an all-over dye job. We both agreed to this and discussed the price ($300) which I agreed to. When I arrived, it was clear that Emily was already backed up, to the point that she had me leave and explore the mall for an extra 30 minutes so she could finish up and she STILL wasn't ready. When I finally got in her chair, she began speaking to me as if she had no idea what she was going to do with my hair, as if we hadn't discussed it in detail on the phone. Long story short, she put color remover in my hair and didn't even let it sit for 10 minutes before saying it was "good enough" and rinsing my hair, only for it to look the same as before. Remember, she charged me $300 for this. She also spent the majority of my appointment talking on the phone about her new trashy "TV show" that she's "producing". Then, when she ran an hour over doing my hair into the next girl's appointment, she made it a point to say that it was my fault and that she didn't know she was going to have to correct my color (that is literally the service I booked for). That being said, the color isn't horrible, though it's not what I asked for. Just know that the customer service will be trash and you'll be charged way more than what her work deserves.

This was my first time ever getting lash extensions, and unfortunately the experience was extremely…read moredisappointing. From the moment I sat down, the lash tech, Bellamia, was openly annoyed that I was new and had questions. She did not want to explain anything and made me feel uncomfortable for asking. It was an unpleasant experience, but I genuinely wanted to start lashes as a regular routine. The salon is close to my home, and while a friendly, knowledgeable tech would have been ideal, convenience mattered to me. Because of that, I decided to move forward anyway, signed up for the monthly plan, and allowed her to apply the lashes. Initially, they didn't look terrible, but they were far more curled than what I asked for. I wanted a straighter, more natural look. However, when questions aren't welcomed and you feel like asking one more might earn you another dirty look and sigh, you end up accepting whatever you're given. The real problem started after I left. By day four, approximately 80% of the lashes had fallen out. I spoke with friends, family, and even clients of my own who regularly get lashes, and all confirmed that this level of fallout that quickly is not normal. On day five, I called the salon and was told someone would call me back to discuss the issue. No one ever did!!! By day nine, when at least 92% of the lashes were gone, I texted the number that sends appointment reminders. They responded quickly to say that lash loss can be normal and asked me to send pictures. I sent the photos immediately -- and then received zero response!!! Interestingly, when my next appointment date approached, they had no problem texting me reminders and warning me that I would be charged. I asked why no one had responded to the photos, and Michele replied saying, "I told your tech to take a couple extra minutes at the next appt." I was honestly shocked. I spent over $300 on my very first visit, which included the monthly subscription fee, and walked away with complete dissatisfaction. The only solution offered was that the tech might give me a few extra minutes at a future appointment -- despite the fact that the service clearly failed?? I asked to speak with the owner, only to find out that Michele is the franchise owner. I intentionally did not leave a review at first because I wanted to be fair. I truly considered the possibility that maybe lash extensions just didn't work for me. To be sure, I went to another salon. The lashes I received there are absolutely gorgeous, and I am now on day seven with no fallout at all. That confirmed this was not a "me" issue. I genuinely tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but the final takeaway is this: a franchise owner with zero customer service skills and no apparent concern for customer satisfaction is simply unacceptable
