I'm not very satisfied with their wheel-cleaning function. I was just at their Everhard Rd location a few hours ago and found that my alloy wheels were only around 50% clean between the (wide open) spokes. Perhaps that is the industry standard but it needs improvement. Otherwise, I am very satisfied with the upper-level car washes at this and their Whipple Ave. location!

I recently moved back to the area and wasn't sure where to go for an oil change. Dad's was right around the corner and I actually over-looked it as an option at first but was happy I turned the car around and went for it. The price is affordable and what I would call standard, but the service I was really impressed by. You know in those movies where you see a local diner where the waitresses know the customers and the guy with the newspaper in the corner booth is served a fresh slice of apple pie without asking by Mel working the counter? This place has that feel. I guess I can stop the review here by summarizing -- why am I leaving a review for an oil change? Because the management was fantastic, the pricing was competitive, the location is ideal and it's a great community business to support. Boom.

Unfortunately, I've been disappointed with the consistency of the service. When I arrived without an appointment, he was able to take about 15 minutes to get the decal residue off, even though he was doing an interior detail on another car. HW offers a wide range of services, from a car wash to full on interior and exterior detailing (or whatever else you need) - prices are online, but he's able to give you a quote for things that aren't on the list as well. Finding the place can be a little difficult - it doesn't stand out as a garage off of Cleveland Ave. It's actually attached to a corner shopping center, with a few parking spots in the front. You have to bring your car to the back for service, and it's a bit of a narrow alleyway. There are a few negatives - the first is that House of Wax does not take credit or debit cards. I was glad I had enough cash, but I had no idea until I was about to pay. The other is that for a wash or detail, you have to leave your car there. Since it's a one man operation, you have to find your own way back to home or work, no one can give you a short ride. A full interior and exterior detail is apparently a full-day operation, so you can't just wait around the way I did for my decal.
