Sorry "business center."

They had stale coffee to greet us, the business center was sad-looking, nothing was working ... the elevator and vending machines, and when you tried to get help from the front desk, they were always hiding in the back. The room was nice but the fridge was going out and had a horrible hum to it. I'd give this a notch above Motel 6.

Broken drain grates where my son fell through. The orange cone is covering a bigger hole

I've been wanting to make this post since it happened, but every time I try, I've been hit with a rollercoaster of emotions. Last weekend, I took my two boys, my cousin Nicole, and her son to Splash Universe Dundee . We had booked a Family Fun Suite for spring break but had to postpone due to illness. When I called to reschedule, the woman I spoke with said everything would stay the same--same room, same rate. However, when we got there, the price had mysteriously jumped $150. I was too tired to argue, so I let it go, just wanting to get the kids settled and into the water. Once in the room, we noticed a few things: The bunk bed railings were super wobbly A light above the bed was burned out The soap dish in the bathroom was still dirty from the last guest, etc Again, we let it go and headed to the waterpark. There was no staff at the entrance--we just walked in. Found a locker, and went about our business. Nicole stayed by the kiddie slide, and I stood nearby on the walkway while Hunter (my 2-year-old) made loops going down the slide. He slipped a few times, which wasn't surprising since the surface was slick, but then I noticed he fell and didn't get back up. I rushed over and found he had fallen THROUGH a broken plastic drain grate in the floor. He was holding his knee and screaming in pain. No staff in sight. I picked him up and carried him out of the waterpark, looking for any staff, and ended up going to the gift shop window and said: "Hey. My kid got hurt, I can't find any staff to help, I don't feel safe continuing our stay. I'd like to talk to a manager." The employee called someone, and I was told, "Go get a bandaid from a lifeguard, and a manager will be here soon." Turns out, a man sitting silently on a nearby couch was a manager. No badge. No introduction. Never even looked up at me when he saw my kid crying and heard me asking for help. Instead he let me walk back into the waterpark looking for a lifeguard feeling more confused. No empathy. No concern, nothing. After getting a bandaid, he finally approached us and He basically said: "Because you want a refund, go pack your things. Another manager will meet you at the front desk." We packed up our things while trying to comfort our disappointed kids (who didn't even get to try the big slides--they kept shutting them down). At the front desk, a woman handed me $300 cash and said the rest of my refund would be processed later, because "the managers weren't on the property." Nicole stepped in and said: "A kid got hurt in your waterpark, and you're telling me the managers left? Get one here now or we're calling Dundee Police." About 10 minutes later, a young guy showed up with a printed receipt showing the rest of my refund, and walked off like that was the end of it. No apology. No concern. No offer to help or even check on my child. Throughout the park, we saw multiple broken or missing grates, and even a construction cone placed next to another unsafe area--right by where Hunter had his fall. The lack of staff and supervision made it feel like nobody cared. I thought staying local would be a great way to make memories with my kids, but instead we felt unsafe and completely disregarded. It's clear the owners care more about money than safety or guest experience. Not one manager ever asked if my son was okay. No one offered a sincere apology. I will never spend another dime there, and I'll make sure to share my story so others can stay safe and go elsewhere. It's been a week and the scratch is healing, but he's got a pretty gnarly bruise. I wish I had pictures of some other areas and of the grates when they originally broke, but I had my phone stored in a locker. An employee had tried putting the peices back into place. ‍

Our stay was amazing. Thank you to the entire staff. We had an amazing time and even extended our stay because of the generosity.

My wife and our daughter came here and our stay was tremendous! Super clean and nice! the manager and the owner were very helpful and accommodated to our needs flawlessly. Thank you, Jared and Joseph for making our stay and most importantly making our daughter have an amazing time here at splash universe. We will definitely be back. Don't listen to all the negative reviews you hear on places because odds are they are lies . I would definitely recommend trying this place out.

We spent a decent amount of money on a suite room that would sleep up to 8, only to pull out the couch bed and find red blotchy stains all over the mattress. Not sure it was food, blood, vomit or some other bodily fluid but regardless it was pretty gross. When I called down to the service desk to tell them I was told I could come down stairs and grab a blanket to put over it. I did not want any of the kids sleeping on whatever that was that probably soaked into the mattress. The manager offered a $30 dollar credit for the sheets which definitely seems like not enough considering we couldn't use the entire couch bed to sleep our family, which we were planning on. Not to mention no warning about the restaurant, snack shop, hot tub all being closed for the entire day even though it was promised in the price. We were so excited to come here and but very disappointed in the experience and how concerns were handled by management. We will definitely not be recommending anyone to go here.

The day we came their internet was down so if you didn't have cash or buy tickets in advance you couldn't get in. The park was clean and well maintained and there's a ton of attractions to explore. Totally affordable and very local. I can't wait to take my little guy back here again. Grab a cabana!

This place was fantastic!…read more The tip I got and would pass on is to purchase your tickets online. The longest wait was to get into the parking lot, despite signs saying they were at capacity with the exception of online tickets. Everything was magnificent! They have lifejackets available. Bring your own chairs if you want a place to put your stuff and all the lawn chairs are taken. They have tubes to use for the wave pool and lazy River. Outside food is not allowed but I would recommend finding a way to bring it in because I would have purchased meals for my family at the concession stand but there were long lines all day and once it finally died down I realized why... they ran out of all the food-food (they still had bags of chips). If you're not going to allow outside food, you need to be able to accommodate guests! Yes, they allow you to leave and come back same-day but do I really want to get in my hot car where my skin sticks to the seats, while wearing a wet bathing suit just to find the closest fast food? No, not really. I would rather pack sandwiches and leave in the car or whatever. Plenty of people brought grills to set up outside the gates, so I would consider that in the future. There are so many awesome things about this place, that I look forward to returning next year!

The friend we were meeting is a local so she was able to get a reservation for the 11am-1pm time slot, which is apparently reserved for locals. It wasn't too crowded and was the perfect activity for a very hot summer day. My 6 year old was a bit fearful of the giant bucket of water that pours on your head at first, although by the end of the 2 hours he was standing under it welcoming it. My 9 year old and his friend jumped right in and couldn't get enough of all the slides and water fun. They were probably some of the older kids there, but still young enough to enjoy the fun. There's also a more babyish area to the side for younger kids who aren't into the slides and giant bucket. They also get 5 stars for cleanliness, including the bathrooms and changing rooms. I had to show out my coffee when we arrived since no food or drink is allowed inside the gate, but that's probably how they manage to keep it so clean. My sons are asking when we can go to Michigan just to go to this again so I can imagine if we were locals we would be there quite a bit.

There are sections that lends to smaller kiddos, but truly, the whole pad is appropriate and entertaing enough for toddlers to tweens. Even the adults were enjoying themselves. The addition of water slides makes this splash pad the best in the area for older kids. There are changing areas, restrooms, several tables and benches in the shade for parents. Today, it is 93 degrees in the sun and I am really comfortable under the shade of a table. The time limit per session is 2 hours, which is really perfect. You can't bring in your own snacks/lunch, so any longer would be tough for my kiddo. We will be back for sure!

Sounds like a great spot right? Right! Unassuming from the outside, it was all business and professional courtesy once you entered through the gates. Here's the thing with aquatic centers. Lifeguards are paramount! We can all imagine a scenario when security and lifeguards are lacking, so to see it in action was incredibly impressive. On the day we went - near the end of our stay, we witnessed an episode where all the whistles blew, lifeguards stood up at their stations and pointed to the spot where someone was struggling in the water. In a matter of seconds, lifeguards converged and basically took care of business. Now these are late teens to early twenty-something kids. And to see this type of urgency, and trained behavior for the safety and security of their patrons was, well - encouraging to say the least. Once we got home it was decided that, based on our first experience, this won't be our last trip to the East Lansing Family Aquatic Center. Well done staff! You came through with stars!

One of the posts said that this is because of the amount of geese that have been frequenting the lake this year or because of runoff from rain. We went once before we knew about the e coli issues and actually had a great time. The beach (we thought) appeared clean and the water was the perfect cool temperature on a hot summer day. The swimming area went deep enough that we could float away from the littles on the shoreline. There were two life guards on duty. They have really amazing facilities where a get together was being held under the pavilion. They have a snack station, but we brought our own chips and sodas. They also have a splash pad with water slides. This area was closed when we went, and you have to pay a little more to access this area. They also have some cool trails and a frisbee golf course.
