This place was recommended to me by a friend who went to find a costume for an event we were both attending, and suggested I check it out, because the prices were far better than at the Dallas Vintage Shop. I took an hour for lunch one day and hustled over there. The place is not well-kept by any means, but just by looking around, I realized that these people have been in business for YEARS, and those years have yielded them lots of work. There are costumes EVERYWHERE, mostly assorted by time period. I went looking for a black skirt and a petticoat, as well as an accessory for my head. The lady helping me was knowledgeable, and very prompt. I was in and out in under half an hour, with my rentals in tow. That's the gist of the business. It's strictly rentals only - no purchases. FYI - they take cash or checks only - no cards. I paid all of 17 bucks and some change for the skirt, petticoat, and hair accessory. Great deal! I am positive I will be back for my next costuming needs.

They have changing rooms and the costumes ranged pretty much from $60-$90 and you get to keep them for a week! We rented on the Saturday prior to Halloween Friday and didn't have to return it until Monday, 11/3. You put down your credit card as deposit and pay a cleaning fee when you rent. Be careful because if you lose or damage the costume it ends up being something like $350!!

Don't hold me to the quotes, but you get the general idea. It's a pretty simple arrangement at Harris, where they've been plying their trade in one way or another for something in the area of 63 years (I think that actually may be the real figure), and they're pretty savvy when it comes to helping you sort what you're after. At some point there was a fire, and we'll assume for the sake of argument that it was bad, as this business doesn't exist in those environs any longer. But nowadays they bring the rental side just fine (mental note: there are tons of hats), and the sales side is pretty fun too (if you're in the market for a feather boa they have you wrangled).
