After moving from Tokyo to New York and studying at FIT, he spent years supplying ties to iconic retailers like Paul Stuart and Barneys before launching his own brand in 1992. That experience clearly shows in the refined balance between Japanese craftsmanship and American style. The ties themselves are works of art. The silk is woven in small mills in Kyoto using looms traditionally reserved for kimono fabrics, they are also hand-sewn in Japan. Each design is produced in extremely limited quantities--often only eight or twelve worldwide--and individually numbered. The result is a tie that feels genuinely special, with beautiful, vibrant patterns you simply won't see elsewhere.
