More than any town needs. Plainville feels like "my people" since they voted to avoid this situation with this property and open a wooded area instead. I went to a quick walk to check out Hawkins Woods last Sunday. Keep in mind that this spot is a work in progress. There is a nice parking area and a sign at the trail head. Currently there is one trail that I think was 1.9 miles or less. There is a orange line on the map for the property marker. And there were 3 or more disc golf targets already set up. I only found 3. I went to the right first and followed the disc golf path. When I felt I lost the path, I went back to the yellow trail that goes straight ahead from the parking lot. They haven't had a chance to mark the trees so the arrows are on the ground. The path is mostly visible to the eye and will become more so with use. I may have gotten lost a bit but found my way back to the path. There was a lovely stone wall which may be the property border. These are very pretty woods. There were many birds as well. This will be a great place for winter walking or snowshoeing as long as the parking lot is cleared. If you need a longer walk, this is a very picturesque street to walk on as well. If you like taking pictures of nature, this is a very good place. It is a peaceful part of Plainville. Sunset from the field through the woods is beautiful. We meet a lot of folks walking their dogs. Some areas are WET, I would recommend waterproof hikers or boots. There is a practice basket for the disc golf to the right of the main trail. There are 9 holes for the disc golf. You can walk the course as well. We enjoy going there numerous times a week.

I currently board my 30 year old gelding with her. I have him on full board, and he couldn't get better care, she treats him as if he were her own. There is a heated tack room, with cable TV and a REAL bathroom. It's hard to find barns with those around here. The barn itself offers box stalls, and is in fantastic condition. There are also a few in/out stalls available. The outside is beautifully maintained. The horses all have decent sized individual paddocks, with water spouts and protection from the elements in each one. There is an outside wash stall, a large outside arena with excellent lighting. A newly renovated and large round pen. They offer full board, semi rough, and rough board. All at extremely reasonable prices. They offer clinics, cow sorting and fun shows on property, and travel to all sorts of area shows. I can't say it enough. My horse and I absolutely love it here.

Here in the middle of the city is a place of peace, quiet, flowers, a little river, and inspiring words. Previously it was a dumping ground filled with lots of trash, weeds, old tires, dead branches, bottles and cans, and other debris. It was an eyesore in the neighborhood. Diana felt sad about its neglected state and began to clear it. With the permission of the city, she found volunteers who participated in the gradual elimination of the debris. A natural setting with trees and a river slowly emerged and transformed into a park with a bench, wildflowers, and paths to explore. I discovered this place one time I was picking someone up at the Peter Pan bus station, which is just steps away from this nice green space....glad that visionaries and volunteers have made this a nice place to relax.

To see the…read moresea Oakland Beach launch is a nice site that gives you access to several bodies of water. Depending on your mood and desire you can go north up Warwick Cove, over to Brush Cove, west into Greenwich Cove, or around Warwick Point and out into Narragansett Bay. The site has parking for at least 50 or so cars and trailers but does get filled up pretty quickly in the summer. There are two paved ramps that hold some fairly large boats without trouble and enough water so you won't rip the bottom of your hull out. It's an exceptionally nice place to launch a kayak or canoe because there is a sandy beach to the side of the paved ramps so you can get out of the way of trailers and the larger boats. It's a safe place to leave your vehicle and I haven't heard of many crimes around the launch, probably because of the large volume of people in the area. Once in the water a yak can go up Warwick Cove for a nice quiet and relaxing paddle or out into Greenwich or Narragansett Bay for more excitement. There usually is a strong south blow in the summer , especially in the afternoon, so the bays can get pretty feisty quite quickly. If you like lighthouses, you can get a great view of Warwick Lighthouse located on Warwick Point . This is also a great place to launch if you want to paddle out to Patience or Prudence islands. Only a couple of miles but just remember once the afternoon wind picks up the trip back can be a lot more exciting the the trip out there. Assuming you make it back alive, there are several nice seafood restaurants over in Oakland Beach where you can pig out and relax after your adventure.

We were looking for a short hike with a water view and decided to check out the Quinebaug Lake…read moreState Park, and the Quinebaug Lake Loop Trail. According to Wikipedia, the Quinebaug Lake State Park comprises 181 acres in the town of Killingly, Connecticut. The state park offers fishing, hiking and non-motorized boating on the lake (aka the Wauregan Reservoir). Google Map directions took us to a dead end street, which does offer access to the trail, but you may/may not be able to park there. There are no signs indication that you can park here. However, they park does have a large, free to park, parking lot though it can be tricky to find. Look for a paved access road off of Shepard Hill Road, which is about a half mile long, and takes you to a large gravel parking lot. The lake trail which is a fairly easy trail and 2.1 miles long, takes about an hour to circumnavigate. Traveling clockwise, the footing is initially rocky, but gets progressively easier after the first quarter mile. We had no problem on this trail, but did notice that Camp Quinebaug is located about half way across the lake. Since it was closed, we walked through the camp and continued on the trail. There are no trespassing signs there, so we're not sure if you can cut through the camp in the summer, or if there is a longer way around it. We looked up the camp and found some interesting information: Camp Quinebaug is a summer Day Camp in Killingly. It is a camp for children with developmental disabilities, funded and operated by the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services and The Friends of Camp Quinebaug. It provides a unique summer camp experience for school age children with developmental disabilities and has the only beach on the lake. Approximately 90-100 campers per season enjoy the benefits of this 6 week fully accessible camp environment. We enjoyed our Quinebaug Lake Loop Trail hike though we found Pulaski State Park, which is about 20 minutes away, to have a more beautiful setting and interesting hike around their pond. Pulaski also has picnic tables and a rest room, but it's likely much busier in the summer!

I loved how every room kept us on our toes some were physical, some were puzzles, and all were exciting. Such a great activity for friends or family, and I'd definitely go back to try and beat my score!

Staff here was great, Don chatted with us for a little while and told us a bit about the rest of the stuff they offered there. The portals were super fun. We definitely want to go back and finish the portals we didnt get to do. I would absolutely recommend this place. Its really such a great time!

Collyer Park is a park in Providence, near the Peter Pan Bus Lines Terminal and the Saint Raymonds…read moreChurch. It's mostly used by the residents of the area, since it is walkable to many homes. The park is small and the facilities a bit tired. I heard they are doing renovations soon to bring it back to a more modern state. The small playground is used often and there is a ball field as well.
