Spintronix provided uplighting and DJ services for our wedding at San Francisco City Hall. Lighting - Chris Miguel was so easy and efficient to work with. We wanted uplighting with the gobos as well as a monogram of our names during the event. All we needed to do was provide pictures of what type of lighting we wanted for the different times of the night. We had a different scheme for ceremony, cocktails, and the reception and to see the transformation throughout the evening was just fantastic. Lighting makes such a big difference for the venue and our photographers even thanked us for going with Spintronix for the uplighting. DJ/Music - DJ Scotty was perfect. The only task we needed to do was provide a sample list of the type of music we wanted for certain portions of the evening and then he catered to our style. I received many compliments on how great our DJ and the music was. I was worried about people not dancing, but from the moment the dancing started, I don't think the dance floor was empty. We hired Spintronix to provide the audio at our outdoor wedding ceremony and the DJ and MC for our wedding reception, and everything went very smoothly. It pains me to give two stars for a few reasons: 1) the guys are very nice and the lighting was beautiful and 2) I don't like to think about the painful moments in my wedding. However, if some aspects of their service STILL rubs me the wrong way a year later and the fact that they have 37 reviews that are all five stars, then the truth needs to be told. Let's break it down per the above: 1) Eric Yee is very professional and responsive. Unfortunately, he had to be because two months before the wedding, our MC did not answer any of his emails or phone calls and I had to escalate to Eric. Eric took over a lot of the communication and he came to my walk-through and helped me think through the lighting. The lighting ended up being beautiful and for that and Eric alone, I give two stars. 2) Unfortunately, however, I was stuck with the same MC for my wedding. Eric told me that the MC just started his full-time job at a company that rhymes with Dynga, but frankly, that is no excuse. (Lessons learned - I know a lot of MCs/DJs have second gigs, but working crazy hours at Dynga should mean you really shouldn't be doing MC wedding work.) So this is what happened at the wedding: a. Our slideshow was botched. My fiance/husband had spent a good two months on our slideshow and we verified multiple times with our MC that they would bring the right equipment and everything would be fine. Instead, our slideshow sputtered, started and stopped, the entire 10 minutes while our guests fidgeted for the entire 30 minutes it took to actually run. (10 minutes to try to get it to work properly and then another 20 to just sit and painfully watch it start and stop end to end.) We really put a lot of love in our slideshow making sure to include pictures of every guest who would be at our wedding. b. As a result of a, we lost 30 minutes of time on the dance floor with our guests. Even worse, the DJ played only TWO of 40 songs from our playlist that we carefully put together. Not sure why we even did a playlist if he was going to IGNORE everything on it. c. The DJ did not wait for our cue to begin our first dance. We were so startled when we heard our music start up that we just lurched right into it, feeling rushed and off beat. What should have been fun ended up being stressful. Maybe we should have had said "hey, wait!", but we were caught so off-guard and rushed because of the time we lost earlier, that we just ran into it. In the end, we did demand a refund for the projector and screen rental which they did reimburse. A pittance though - I couldn't care less about the money, I just wanted my entertainment to run smoothly. read more

Businesses that have all 5 star reviews make me kind of suspicious. I always wonder: Are they really consistently fantastic? Are those reviews stacked? In the case of Spintronix, they deserve every star, plus a couple more. I had gone to a wedding 5 years ago where they had DJ'ed, so I knew more than just the Yelp reviews, but after my own wedding, I'd give them 10 stars if I could. If I'm ever having another event, they're the first vendor I'm going to call -- and if they're not free, I'll move the date. No joke! Eric Yee (the man himself!) ran my wedding my wedding on October 22, and they took care of the ceremony, the lighting, and the reception. And when I say "took care of" -- I really mean, they were set up early, worked seamlessly with my other vendors (whom they met that day), and kept everything on my extremely detailed schedule. Here's how it worked: Prior to the event, we met up once at the hotel to do a lighting trial (no additional cost). Eric also drove over the week of the event to meet up and go over the reception schedule, music selections, and how to say everybody's names. (We we used the just first name for both the bride and groom all night because I didn't take his last name.) Our package covered the ceremony voice amp, reception, and lighting. Eric came himself to MC and brought a DJ and 2 assistants as well. The ceremony was in Golden Gate Park. There was no electricity at the site, so they brought in a portable generator for the speakers. Btw, the generator = silent! You could only hear the birds chriping. :) Our reception was at one of the hotels downtown, where we had the smaller of two adjacent ballrooms. Twist in the story: The group in the ballroom next door had our reception room -- for their ceremony, which ended about 5pm. Our reception started at 7:30pm, sharp! So, that means that the hotel had to break down and clear the room ASAP, giving Eric and his crew just over 2 hours to set up their entire DJ rig, and 12 pinspots (downward lighting), and 12 LED lights (to provide a diffuse glow in the room). On the execution of the reception itself, we gave Eric very little instruction as to music. We picked 3 songs and 4 genres and said very generally what we liked and didn't like (e.g., no "Single Ladies" and no Lady Gaga) and he said he would just read the crowd and go from there. And they did! Awesome. Also, you know how some DJs just play songs without transitions? (It's like having your iPod playlist just go.) Spintronix only uses pros! They had excellent beats and sync-ed up each transition so it flowed. We also had a really unusual reception schedule. Each course was interspersed with a dance set (better for the digestion, and keeps the kitchen happy because the food runs on time (dance sets are compressed if speeches run long). Eric MCed, and kept everything on time, including my four costume changes. Book them! Early! read more

Spintronix is awesome. Let's go through a quick checklist of things you want from a DJ/MC during your wedding: No Playlist - Check - None of the songs on the list made it to the speakers. Playlist -Check - A great set was made around the 10-15 songs we wanted and all the songs were played. An MC who 'gets' it - Check - Eric was awesome. Just some eye contact with him and he knew when to cut some songs short and when to get on the mic and work up the crowd Huge song selection and non-intrusive setup - These guys have everything and the dance music was on point. They were there when you needed them and out of your way when you didn't. And to top it off, they also do lighting which set a a great atmosphere and have very competitive pricing. We hired Spintronix for our wedding (music and lighting) and they did an excellent job. Eric was a knowledgeable and low-key salesman and while we weren't able to meet with our actual DJs in advance, we felt confident that he would choose people appropriate for our event. And he did. The DJs had great taste for the dance music and managed to keep everyone out on the dance floor until late. And the lighting (which included some colored up-lighting and one "gobo") was reasonably priced and looked amazing. There was a small snafu with some of the music we had sent in advance, but it was dealt with very professionally. Lesson learned: if you are requesting a specific playlist, make sure that you bring a copy of the music in unlocked mp3 form on a CD or USB disk in addition to sending it to them in advance, just to cover any unexpected problems. Our main contact, Eric Lee, had done a wedding for a friend a few years back and so we had firsthand knowledge of their work. Hands down awesome experience. We negotiated a VERY reasonable lighting and DJ package with a few extras thrown in. We had zero sound or lighting issues during the ceremony and reception. They mic'd up our string musicians without a hitch. In short, everything was as smooth as butter. We absolutely loved working with Eric and his Spintronix team for our Feb 11, 2017 wedding at The Bridges Golf Club in San Ramon! I would definitely work with them again if an event came up and recommend them to others. I came across Spintronix online while searching for a dj entertainment/lighting company for our wedding. After reaching out we started working with Eric directly for the remaining months. He was on point with every idea, suggestion, and really guided us the whole way. Since he's been in the wedding industry in the bay area for at least a decade now, he's well connected and has lots of great ideas and best practices in mind. When we were stuck on how to best go about a situation or what looks best during the ceremony/reception, Eric was quick to give us an idea. He even helped a lot with our music selection during the ceremony. He and his DJ rocked the evening with great music for dancing and our guests gave compliments on them afterwards. They definitely helped create the vibe we wanted in terms of music, hyping up the crowd during the bridal party entrance and late night dancing, and everything in between. Eric gave us step by step instructions on the spot as we cut the cake, did the bouquet toss, toasted tables, etc. As bride & groom, it's hard to focus on making sure each step or hiccup gets taken care of, but with Eric we were confident that he could handle everything behind the scenes and he did, and we felt completely at ease to enjoy the evening. The purple lighting was amazing! Lighting effects make a huge difference in a room, and they knew exactly how to set up at The Bridges. Every spotlight and uplight was placed perfectly. Speakers and mics had no issues - loud and clear. DJ and music tracks were spot on with timing and event flow, and they were good at picking up the vibes in the room to know how to keep the party going. We're so glad we chose Spintronix for our wedding and couldn't be happier with the way it all turned out. Regarding costs, we felt that it was very reasonable and they weren't in it to price gouge in any way or charge you for every little tiny detail, but they genuinely want to help you pull of a successful event. I went to a corporate gig these guys did and it was quite impressive and well done. Met one of the DJs, nice guy named Mark, and he was very knowledgable about the whole business. I booked Spintronix for my wedding reception and planned everything with Chris all via email. Chris was super quick at responding to my emails and always made sure my questions were answered! At the reception we had Chris, Louell, and Tony. Chris was there to make sure we were on schedule and worked with my cousins to make sure our video montage and slideshow ran smoothly. Tony was a great emcee and Louell as our DJ was phenomenal! We told Louell that we liked remixes and mash ups and he definitely delivered!! My guests were raving about how great the music was and there was always people on the dance floor. One guest even told me she wanted to sit down during dancing but she couldn't tear herself away from the dance floor because every single song was a hit! Guests were literally BEGGING for a copy of our whole dance set mix in a CD! 2 words: Hire Spintronix! We hired Spintronix for our wedding, a once in a lifetime event where anything less than perfect is not acceptable. Spintronix was perfect. They did an amazing job with choosing the music and mixing it for an evening of non stop dancing. Our friends told us later "You the know the DJ is good when you have to go to the bathroom, but the songs just keep coming and are too good to miss to take a break." The lighting made the evening and our wedding even more amazing. By itself the venue dance floor was a bit drab, but Spintrox transformed the room with their drop-lighting, and assortment of patterns cast over the ceiling and walls. As the night progressed, the lights dropped down and the party morphed into a dance club mix of lasers and flashing colors. Our guests danced right up until the end at midnight and would have kept the party going if we weren't being kicked out.
