I was tasked with finding a restaurant for our final dinner in Berlin and came across this place's Instagram and fell in absolute love. What a lovely evening we had! The food and cocktails were divine and the aesthetic of the whole place was a dream. So wonderful to meet the couple behind it all as we were leaving. We had a seasonal white asparagus that was locally grown and unique to the area. Very rude, food is only sometimes good. The quality of the food varies vastly depending on the dish, for example, the plain Caesar Salad is very good, while the same dish with chicken is terrible (dry, tasteless, stringy piece of chicken breast plopped on top). The staff is incredibly rude if you do not want things just as they dictate. E.g. they refuse to serve you tap water at all at dinner time. At lunch, you must go to a counter to get your own, in a truly tiny glass. This is not a place where the customer is treated like a guest, but more like a food-applicant! Since the reopening after the Covid 19 lock-down, they very rudely ask you to leave, if you will not share your personal data with them. Unacceptable breach of privacy! read more

German fusion food is done extremely well here. Nice seasonal options like the Spindler-Style asparagus w/ broccoli rabe was fantastically delicious. The halibut with saffron, fennel, peas and orzo had wonderfully cooked fish and a well-tempered saffron taste. Also delicious was the pork belly with a celery root gratin and carrot p that was any home cooks dream to make. Also, the good cocktails and friendly service were especially appreciated. I would certainly recommend to anyone looking for a nice meal in the Kreuzberg area. Perhaps on the $$$$ scale for the area (so not a 5 star review), but overall - especially with great interior decor and the nice patio - it is worth it. read more

The service was friendly and prompt. On a Thursday night in November it wasn't too crowded when we got there for a 7:30 reservation. Actually a 7pm reservation we were late for bc we had to take photos at the Brandenburg gate naturlich. We ordered the Ceviche which was fresh, tangy and gone in 60 seconds. We also ordered the double Entrecôte to share which was enough for two beautiful ladies watching our girlish figures, since also had the spinach/broccoli and the mushroom potato gratin. Probably the most beautiful restaurant I know in Berlin. I really love the design and the atmosphere. The food is excellent. We were 5 people and I tried from everybody's dishes. All were excellent!! The Ferdinand Quitte Jin is a killer cocktail!! Service was very friendly but a drink in the beginning was forgotten, as well as coffee in the end. The dessert took ages. But all in all - I would give the service a good review as well, especially because our waiter was kind and apologised. I will come back again soon! read more

Service was very slow, got our drinks wrong. But the food was the worst part. I had the ravioli it was so terrible and my friend had the rigatoni. No flavor and way too much cheese, it tasted genuinely bad. I'm really not picky I can eat McDonald's but this was bad. Very cute place and area though. Most expensive meal I've had in Berlin and it was the worst tasting and worst service. Great find. After an extraordinary meal/experience at Panama the night before, I did not think I'd be lucky to find anything close, but Spindler is great. Beautiful setting, warm and gracious service, and delicious food and wine. The two vegans in our group of 6 loved it, as did the omnivores. Risotto, halibut, cauliflower soup and truffles mash were among the favorites. All in all a great place. read more

The "service" at Spindler really got me thinking that I don't want to bother going anywhere in Berlin that you might rely on "service". Just buy a picnic basket, fill it with delicious things, spend 15 euros on a bottle of decent wine and sit by the canal or head to any one of the many amazing and beautiful parks. Why do I keep going out wasting money in places where I'll just wind up pissed when my server completely ignores me, it's impossible to get my first drink, even more impossible to get my second drink, then I may as well just run away and not pay my check because the server is just never going to bring it. It's not enjoyable, not fun. Nope...my money is much better spent on nice wine by the canal or in a park where I'm not relying on someone who clearly hates their job. "Service"...is there another name for it in German that means something entirely different? Maybe the word in German for waiter means someone who infuriates you while they make you wait for them. The space at Spindler is amazing. The patio is beautiful, and the interior is really cool. I would have loved it if I could have just served myself instead of sitting there getting ignored. It could be a really great place with a tiny bit of effort. The 30 Euros for a couple drinks was a bit silly. read more

A typical "classy" restaurant the Berliner way. Unfriendly and unprofessional service. As a reply to a reservation misunderstanding we got "it´s not that much difference of price". The waiters lack of the minimal requirements (someone were serving from the left side...). The wine is terrible, typical german sugary stuff for 30-40 eur a bottle. We were 13 guests with regular reservation for a special event. We got a table packed in a corner. Some waiter even made faces at the back of the birthday girl. Some other commented on the orders comparing to their personal tastes. Quality of the food, from average to good. Terrible mushroom semifreddo, the salad was a salad with some french cheese. Excellent vegetable pie. They can write "classy restaurant in Berlin" on the website. That does not mean one has to comply with the claim. read more

Paid for a prefixed group dinner and an extra fee for wine and beer. However, during the dinner a new rule was implemented or the rule was failed to be established during the booking. Considering the expensive price paid, I and the rest of the group are very disappointed with the new fees charged for having more than two glasses of wine or beer. We live in the US and this summer spent 6 weeks traveling in Europe. We visited 14 countries and ended our visit in Berlin where one of our daughters lives. In fact, she lives on the opposite side of the block Spindler is on. One day while daughter was at work we were exploring the neighborhood. We thoroughly enjoyed the Turkish market and walking along the canal. We just happened to end up at Spindler for lunch. What a lucky find!! My husband must be gluten free and I am vegetarian. No problem! He ordered a lovely salad with avocado and I had the Vegan Bowl. I cannot say enough about my meal. It was just delicious and so artfully presented. All of the components were of nice quality. I am somewhat of a foodie and strive to make every meal picture worthy at home. This meal was in that category. We had over 120 restaurant meals during our trip. The Vegan Bowl was one of my top 3 favorites. I hope it is on the menu when we are back there in a couple years!!!! read more
