Came here with a friend for a unique art experience that was hosted here. However, the service here is atrocious. Not only do the staff barely wear their mask, they kept multiple people waiting for 20 minutes+ for food/drink. Also, they ultimately charged our card two additional times resulting in a total far exceeding what we actually paid. Is Chicago big enough for 2 ping pong spots in the same vicinity? I guess we will find out. This is great for groups and parties. This place is not flashy or glitzy as Acebounce. SPiN has a more laid back ambiance with still an element of trend. I've been to the one in NYC so I was more familiar with it. The food menu had something for everyone that leans toward comfort food (the food at Acebounce is a stark contrast). The truffle fries are awesome here. We came in for a surprise birthday party and the staff was friendly to work with. The drink menu is expansive enough for everyone. This is my first SPiN experience altogether, though I've been meaning to visit SPiN San Francisco. Three of us ventured in costumed onesies around midnight on Saturday of Halloweekend. We were a bit confused by the setup: you make a table reservation upstairs with a card, they greet you downstairs, lead you to your table, and you give another card to your waitress as she takes your order. -1 star for the complexity of this process: why so many credit card swipes needed? -1 star for the environment: it's supposed to be cool, black lit, and trendy but it was EMPTY as can be on a Saturday night at midnight -1 star for the prices: it was EMPTY on a Saturday night and we were still charged really premium rates for a ping pong table ($29 per 30 minutes)! If you're going to charge $1/minute, it better be because people are lining up at the door to get on those tables. I feel like an idiot for paying that much! Pro tip: Visit SPiN for the beer selection, cocktails, friendly staff, photobooth, and trendy scene... NOT for the ping pong :) read more

SPiN is an awesome place for a work event (and just a cool place to hang out in general). We had an area in the downstairs, which is HUGE and seemed like the best place to be. The bar area is really big, so was always really easy to get a drink and plenty of tables and places to stand and socialize. The bartenders were all really nice and friendly and almost wanting to be too helpful (i.e., asking what we were looking for an a beer/wine etc. What I'm looking for is the drink list haha). The setup is really good around the ping pong tables as well, they have these big mesh curtains that can separate the different tables, so you have some private space from other parties. They have huge baskets of balls at all the tables, so you never need to chase down your crappy shots. And there is a guy just buzzing around with this tennis racket net contraption to scoop up all the balls and refill the baskets. Really fun to have an activity to go along with your socializing and drinking. There are also plenty of couches etc. near the tables, so you really are not a a loss for good spaces to mingle about your party. We also had a number of the passed app's that were tasty - I thought the sliders were really good, risotto balls alright, pretzel bites really good as well. So I guess ping pong places are all the rage. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed in this one. Their "party coordinator" just wasn't as involved and this location didn't have all the fun party ping pong games that even individuals that may not be particularly skilled can enjoy if you are part of a larger party. Aside from that the appetizers were surprisingly on point (you just don't expect good eats at a place that's more focused on entertainment but they nailed it!) and the staff was very nice and professional. I hosted an event at SPIN and it was way more fun than just sitting around at a bar or restaurant. I thought this was a fun alternative to renting out a bar space. There were opportunities to play ping pong, get drinks and eat bar food/snacks. There are a few couch areas for people to sit and talk as well. With this venue, there was something for everyone. The staff is awesome: Special shoutouts to Gavin and Adam who were extremely helpful all night. Amanda was so fantastic during the event planning process. I appreciated all their support for this event and it wouldn't have been a success without their friendly service. (Thank you all.) My only ding on SPIN is the sound level: It gets very, very loud. I wish the music had been turned down a bit because it gets very hard to hear each other talk. Is it really necessary to keep the music volume at the level of a nightclub? At the end of the night, we were all craving to get outside so we could actually hear each other. Overall, I'd recommend SPIN for group events -- or for just doing something different on a weekend night. read more

Not sure if they have free days or hours, but its something that should be offered on slower days. Someone in our party was in the middle of drinking and was told they had to wear their mask. They said they were drinking and then asked why the staff members weren't wearing the masks and we were promptly thrown out. Everyone else was masked while we were not drinking. One of our party was looking to thank a staff member for being nice and the manager yelled at him to keep walking as he escorted us out. That staff member wasn't wearing his mask either. I can't see why everyone wouldn't give SPIN Chicago a 5-star rating. My two friends and I walked in on a Tuesday, just to have something to do other than eat and drink at a restaurant and WE HAD A BALL!! I mean, for $29/hour, we enjoyed playing game after game and the best part of all was that we didn't have to chase after any balls! The staff let us know "don't worry about it, we'll get those for you". We had a blast!!! Stacy, our server was SO SWEET!! I always try to make it a rule to tip in cash and she actually hugged us as we were leaving!! The entire place is beautiful and I recommend it for adults and kids. There's something there for everyone. Great food (we ordered the Margarita pizza and the pepperoni pizza, but we preferred the Margarita). The Asian wings were crispy, but a little saltier than I would have liked. And, the trio of sweet potato fries, regular fries, jicama sticks with dipping sauces was delicious. Superb! We just came across this place as we were walking down from State Street. What a creative idea for a bar/meetup place! I haven't played ping pong in ages and this was definitely a lot of fun! The place almost looks like a museum when you walk inside. Staff was also extremely friendly and accommodating. We were very impressed and delighted our entire visit. We are literally still here, but all I can say is that this place is awesome! Here with my daughter and three of her friends. They're very accommodating for them as they're enjoying playing around. The place is pretty loud, so they're comfortable being loud. If you want energy, then this is the place for you! As the kids play, I'm going to be "working" on my laptop planning our "AKleckstraordinarySummer vacation. The wifi is free and is not password protected (that's good and bad). Come here before 9 if you want the whole family to enjoy their time. Otherwise, it's 21+ after 9 pm. Kudos to Miles and David. Both guys are incredibly nice and beyond helpful. A fun twist on usual weekend plans. We checked this place out on a Sunday afternoon during "non peak" hours. It was 25 for an hour of ping pong. We love playing recreationally, but 25 an hour for a table is steep. It was a fun one-off event, but with prices like that- we won't come frequently. Pros: lots of space, it's not a million tables side by side like some other ping pong clubs have. It's always nice to have the unlimited basket of balls so you don't have to be chasing half the time. They also offer food and drinks which we jumped on. We ordered the mini burgers and truffle fries. The burgers were off- bun to meet ratio wasn't right and there was a bit too much char on the burger. Truffle fries were excellent; crispy, thin, and lots of good truffle and Parmesan flavor. Cons: $$$ is main con. Otherwise it's a cool place to hang! read more

I love that Spin offers something alternative to your typical bar by having ping pong be the focal point. In my experience the food and drinks are solid and the staff is very friendly. They offer numerous social events like their leagues which are a great way to get to know new people. I've found myself becoming a regular there! Regarding the ping pong: they have an amazing group of pros who hang out there and give tips and lessons. If you have an interest in table tennis this is definitely the place to go. I asked for private lessons and Spin set me up with a former US national champ for one on one training at an affordable price. I'm definitely impressed by what they offer. read more

My review is mainly about pricing and customer service. I want to be constructive so I'll try to keep my emotions at Bay. This was my first visit. I paid online to reserve a table for a party of 4 for 2 hours. I did this because the other ping pong bar I called was booked until 10pm and I didn't want to be stuck hanging out there for hours waiting to play. The total was $118.00. When we arrived we immediately ordered some food and drink. Our waitress brought out the food and delivered the check immediately. Unusual considering we just got there and for all she knows we'd be ordering much more. When we reviewed the bill we saw that she charged us for the food and an hour of play which we already paid for online. It was here that we realized that they charge $39/hour if you walk in and pay versus $59/hour if you book online. That's pretty ridiculous. On top that she charged my credit card and my friends credit card each for that hour. So in our first hour our single party paid two hours plus the prepaid two hours. Are you still with me? Super confusing! That all said, we ended up spending the entire night trying to get the bill settled and the waitress seemed to not understand the issue. We sent the bill back 4 times, saw the manager twice and I still see the same charges on my credit card with no refunds. On top of that, when the hostess came to collect our ping pong gear at the end of our game and asked how things went we explained the situation and she offered to once and for all help get this resolved. After doing so our waitress came up in a tizzy and proceeded to reprimand me for speaking to the hostess and not her. The final issue we we're trying to get fixed is that they still attempted to charge us tax on the food we ordered plus the $118 game we had already purchased. So we were taxed on $150 instead of $40. I'm not really sure if that ever got resolved. We we're so over it by the end of the night we just gave up and left. All this to say that we had a GREAT time playing ping pong. The atmosphere was fun, music was great ( a little too loud though) but our timed two hour game was definitely interrupted by the constant negotiating of the bill in the middle of the game. To SPiN: please advise your wait staff to deliver the bill at the end of the game so our marked up game isn't waisted. read more

Fun ping pong bar that's spacious enough to make socializing and playing a very enjoyable experience! We had a cheese platter, doughnuts, pita and artichoke dip, all the food was on point! Fairly extensive drink menu for a sports bar too. For our friends surprise birthday party, they even had a fan with sparkly confetti that was turned on for Bryan's entrance so that was awesome! There's connect 4 and little side lounges, and look out for events because when the pros show up, let's just say they really up the ante, and they have games where you can match up against them. The only complaint I have is that when our reserved time was up, a waiter took the dip and doughnuts and we wanted to bring it home, but they insisted we couldn't and they had to throw it out. What a waste of food and since we did pay for it, that seemed inappropriate. Otherwise everyone was very polite and attentive. read more

First time here with our end of season party for the Chicago Blackhawks. I didn't think I'd get a workout just from playing Ping Pong, but I was sweating! We had appetizers and they were delicious, especially the buffalo chicken sliders and pizza. There is plenty of ping pong tables on both levels. This place was unreal. Like a magical parallel universe downtown and a breath of fresh air from the usual downtown "scene" and persona. Turned my night around for sure. Decor is off the charts. Industrial feel with some punk rock, modern, great ping pong concept. The best part about this place, is that there was a stage with live music, aside from ping pong. Was here last night for a Philippines tourism event with a meet up group. The place is really good with lot of ping ping tables . Huge and pretty spacious. Best part is you need not run around for one ball. You have bunch of balls placed next to the table and if you can just leave the balls on the ground and keep playing. The balls on floors will be picked up by the spin staff. Food was ok. But good place in downtown if you wanna play some ping pong sipping some drinks with friends. read more

When I went, it was a night during the week. There wasn't much people but i liked that it wasn't really loud. I'm sure it's crowded and loud during busy nights. There are jumbo versions of games such as connect four and Jenga. There's pool tables and ping pong tables with plenty of places to sit and enjoy cocktails. To be honest, I don't give a damn about ping pong. I don't want to play it for hours. And I HATE have ping pong balls bouncing directly into my face, boobs, and drinks. But if you are hipper than me this could be your favorite spot. It has a great location right by the House of Blues, coordinating going to a show there can be complicated (think queuing, tons and tons of queuing) so going here before or after would be pretty great, much lower time commitment than the nearby bowling option and more seating. It also has very cool decor. The food is just okay. At events they have these risotto rice balls they pass around that everyone refuses cos, newsflash, they are not good! I figure they keep pushing them cos they are cheap to make but when people refuse passed apps it is time to make a change. Drinks are superior but of course, Downtown cocktail markup is in full effect! First time in town. I have loved Ping Pong all my life and played with my brother and dad. My wife talked me into gong and we had a great time. Super layout, amazing staff. Rented a table for 1 hour and had a beer while my wife and I played pong pong. A manger dropped by to ask how it was going and I told him my family love of Pong Pong and he was kind enough to play me for 15 minutes. He was GOOD and kind. We did a 4-person birthday celebration here over the weekend. We booked a table for the four of us and our guests, and it came out to $30 divided 4 ways for two hours. At the end of the night, maybe around midnight, a majority of the tables were just open for people to grab paddles and play without having to worry about reservations. Midway through the night, they sponsored some games where you could try to return a serve from some local ping pong wizards, and if you succeeded, they would give you a free beer. Food was good, the truffle fries were seasoned really well. Moderate beer selection at standard downtown Chicago prices (8 bucks a pint), so don't expect to find anything too unique. It's also only 21+ after 9, so bring the young'ns before hand. Overall a super unique outing experience, and a great place for a more interactive celebration if you want something to do. read more

They have ONE stall upstairs. Unisex- actually it's the employee bathroom. If they have an event downstairs, you are not allowed to use the actual PUBLIC bathrooms, literally. I was not allowed to use the bathrooms, I was told to only use the ONE stall upstairs.. that had a line of 8 people already waiting ... really? Went last night after work with a group of 15 colleagues for a team outing and had a BLAST! Not a huge ping pong player, but decided to give it a try -- needless to say got my butt kicked. This is the perfect place for group gatherings. Noise level wasn't bad either. Appetizers and small bites were delicious, wide selection of drinks, and not to mention the best service we could ask for. I would like to give a special shout out to our server David who not only did a phenomenal job at waiting on us, but was prompt and diligent in taking our orders, and made the entire night enjoyable.
