The Yelp company party was at SPiN last week and it was a fabulous time. SPiN has multiple levels which worked so well for a huge company party of about 500 people. Food was solid from fresh vegetables with hummus to pita & guacamole to mini sliders to shrimp! Everything was tasty and staff was excellent about bringing out more when the various buffets got gobbled up. Drinks were free flowing and there were good options. The beer list left a bit to be desired for this beer chick though, especially what was on draft. All in all though, what they had was respectable. We had a lot going on - facepainters, photobooths, aerial artists plus of course the ping pong! That's what SPiN is all about! Dem bouncing balls! Stumbled upon SPIN with a friend who was visiting from out of town. It was a bit late on a Saturday night, but there were ping pong tables available. 8 bucks gets you an hour of ping pong. Basically there are bright orange balls flying everywhere, but staff is really good at picking them up with their long net doohickeythingamabobbers :) I was surprised at how fun it actually was to play ping pong. Everyone around me was getting really into it, as well. The music was booming, but it wasn't annoying. The staff was having a great time working there, as well, so it made it more fun to hang out there. Ordered the steak and fries to share and they were delicious. For the price and how late it was, I was very pleased to be able to get such a substantial and tasty meal. There was also free PONG video game tables, which was also cool to check out. I don't know if I could go more than an hour of playing ping pong, but in that hour I had tons of fun and grabbed some tasty bites. Simply put, this is trendy bar for the young crowd and young at heart, with excellent drinks, a freinly staff, and ping pong tables everywhere. The place is set up to hold events (corporate or otherwise) with 2 floors and multiple open space rooms that could be individually "closed" for special events. I was there for an event, and found the appetizers were deliciously appropriate for drinks. For some, the rental cost for ping pong playing time may be a little high, especially at prime time; but if you have the skills to show off, it's worth the price. SPIN is a really fun place! Whether you come to play seriously, just for fun, or only to watch, you'll have a good time! They have plenty of space. So, it's a cool hang out. You can play gigantic Jenga or connect four, as well as, of course, ping-pong. They have many tables and plenty of balls. They are everywhere! You can even have your picture taken with your friend in a bathtub of balls! LOL We've never had SPIN's food, but they do offer it. We've only come to play ping-pong or to watch and have drinks. The beer selections are pretty decent. They have a variety of tap and bottle/can choices. They also have wines and prosecco, but we didn't find their mixed drinks or martini's to be very good. They were 'meh.' So, I had to deduct my rating slightly for that. Their music is awesome! They have a DJ on site, who plays on Fridays and Saturdays. (I don't know about weekdays). He plays a great variety, whether you like old school Grand Master Flash or Led Zeppelin through present artists and everything great in-between. He mixes the beats well and makes it work! It adds to the fun of the experience! That said, I took off slightly more points for the crazy loud volume. For shits and giggles, I downloaded a decibel app to see exactly how loud it really was down there, and the meter ranged in the high 80s to low 90s. Check out the decibel comparison charts for yourself--that's loud! To put that in perspective, that's like trying to have a convo with your dad as he mowing the lawn. You: "How'd ya like the movie?" Dad: ...as he's moving the lawn, "What?" You: "HOW'D YOU LIKE THE MOVIE!?" Dad: "Huh?" You: "H-O-W++D-I-D++Y-O-U++L-I-K-E++T-H-E++M-O-V-I-E++??!!" Dad: "YOU DID W-H-A-T?" LOL Yeah, that part kind of sucks! It would actually be a better place if they lowered it a frickin' notch. Well, maybe two! Nonetheless, the place is still really cool! So, I'll keep the 4-starts. There is also a good mix of patrons. It's fun for everyone! Lastly, we've been here several times, but on one occasion, we were lucky enough to see two ping-pong professionals battle it out. It was very exciting! They were smacking the ball so fast, you could hardly see it whizzing by! I've only ever seen that on TV (or on Forest Gump---LOL). It was super cool! We'll be back! read more

Area immediately next to the stairs is your best bet because they can just put you on this extended area . Happy hour special is a great deal, $5 drafts and similar priced vodka wells. This was such a cool experience. My girlfriend and I found this place on a whim when we didn't know what to do last night in Chicago. Luckily, reservations were still available to book out a table, so we ate before our 8 pm reservation. The host Melissa was super sweet and helpful when I asked for recommendations. The wings were so good! The drinks were both strong and super flavorful! It was such a cool vibe, tables lined up, and dim lighting for cool ping pong. Def recommend for a fun night. read more

I came with my boyfriend to play ping pong and unwind on a Friday night after visiting their location in Seattle while on vacation. The Chicago location is bigger and quieter... we ordered some drinks and food (nachos) and I would say that the server who looked after us was really nice and friendly, but the food - for what it is - is INCREDIBLY expensive and not tasty, considering that you're already paying for the table on an hourly basis. I wish there was something more to write home about... probably will be a while before I revisit. read more

SPiN has opened Chicago's first Ping Pong Club, and I am glad to be first in line to welcome them to the city! My office had a ping pong event on their opening day, and it was a fantastic time all around. The space is really cool, large and airy, with cool contrasts between a high-end bar and lounging area with comfy chairs to the open spaces for the ping pong tables. Gold mesh curtains prevent runaway-ball-related injuries, while keeping the place classy-looking. I haven't tried the mixed drinks as we had a beer-and-wine package, but the beer selections were good, and I look forward to trying their snacks and bar-type food as well. I completely SUCK at Ping Pong, but I still had a great time at SPiN. I know it's already on the fast-track to being one of Chicago's best. Fun place to hang out and play ping pong while having drinks. They charge by the hour and come let you know when your hour is up. I've been to a SPiN at the Standard Hotel in Los Angeles, and I had thought the ping pong was free there, so I was surprised that they charged ya here (if it's the same chain), but maybe I was mistaken about last time? Maybe someone else in my party had paid without me knowing about it. There are two levels with bars on both levels. We took the table closest to the street, which was technically outside but was enclosed with heat lamps, so it wasn't too cold during the winter night. We also had our own big screen tv to watch basketball on, so that was cool. read more

I was super excited about this place. I love ping pong, beer and food. They had it all! The place is very clean, well run and the food was decent. I am giving it three stars based on how you rent ping pong tables and how strict they are. We rented for a hour which was 39$ and they had stopped us down the the minute which was fine but the place was completely empty, not one other table in use. I would have thought the 2nd and 3rd hour would have been discounted. If so, we would have stayed, drank more, ate more and ultimately spent more $. I had the pleasure of attending a company holiday party here. My five star experience is based off the venue itself and the service received by the amazing staff that was completely organized and in charge all night. In all fairness I didn't play ping pong at this ping pong club or spend any time at the bar, but I did eat a couple of yummy beef sliders and had my eye on the many ping pong tables that were calling out to me. Though I didn't play, there was no shortage of paddles, balls or tables. Spin is a perfect spot to host a large crowd for a private event. Upstairs there is a coat check area and small bar. The mezzanine area was great for chilling out and DJ spinning, but the real action took place downstairs. There was a medium sized dance floor area with black lighting, a huge bar, ping pong tables galore, and there was a talented aerial silk artist who performed from the ceiling in her own protected area. She was truly one of the highlights for me. I'm not sure if she's a regular, but just know they offer that as an option. There were some outside vendors who came in and set up in the upstairs area. There was enough room for glitter tattoos, psychic readings, photo booth, and face painting. It's nice to see the revival of ping pong from days in the past. This is totally and completely an activity I played endlessly as a kid, and if I lived in the city, I would come back for sure with friends for a fun, chill night. read more

I've visited SPIN a couple of times, once shortly after it opened to look around and have a drink while watching March Madness basketball and, more recently, to attend an event on the lower level of the space. The service here is friendly although the ambience is not my cup of tea--it reminds me of a parents' finished basement hangout during high school. I didn't jump into a ping pong game but it was interesting to look around. The drinks were creative and the passed appetizers were plentiful. Such a fun place! You walk in, tell the hostess how many are in your party and see how long the wait is. The night I walked in with my group, there was a wedding party happening downstairs so the wait was longer than usual. We put our name on the list and shimmied our way to the Flight Club (another great bar) to wait for our name to be called. When we were called, we made our way down and they showed us our table, reminded us that we had just requested an hour and then left us to have fun! There were two buckets of ping pong balls around the table that we were able to us. When a ball falls to the ground, let it be, you don't have to pick it up! An employee with a net will come to collect them and soon refill empty buckets! When our time was almost up, an employee came up to ask us if we wanted to add another half hour or to end our hour. While we didn't extend our time, it's a great option because the time passes a lot quicker than you think it will! Buzzed ping pong is great - it makes you laugh, rather than feel bad, about how much you might suck compared to the people around you. ALSO there was some competition that night and it was SO exciting to watch the intense matches! We were so captivated, we almost didn't hear that our table was ready for us! read more

First of all, the venue is AMAZING. It's such a hidden gem - you definitely can't tell how epic it is from the outside. I had such a fun time here playing ping pong. I'm no pro by any means but what's better than grabbing drinks and fooling around with some casual games? Plus the energy is so hyped. I also came to try their brunch and for a ping pong venue - their brunch is just as much of a hidden gem as is their interior. The avocado benedict was literally an avocado with an egg on toast. Super yummy but not too filling which I didn't mind at the time since I had come from working out. My friend had the breakfast sandwich and she couldn't stop raving about it. Spin Chicago was the location of a Divvy (Chicago Rental Bikes) function I attended with a friend. The event was a nice idea - I like the idea of encouraging activity. We arrived about 30 min in to the event, the food tables were fairly empty. We were able to get a few items that were left and cold. The drinks were expensive and were a bit overdone. I don't need overly complicated, especially if it winds up being costly. The tables looked fun but we couldn't get to one to play, they were constantly full and there was no real rhyme or reason on how you got to play. My friend and I wound up sitting in a corner talking. It was a bit hard to walk around and mingle. I can see how this might be fun but the event may have been too large for this space. read more

We came here for a holiday party, which I didn't really enjoy because of following reasons: Music was too loud, so it was hard to talk to people in my group. There were about twenty of us and we got just two ping pong tables. The package came with a very small selection of beer and wine. No cocktails were included. We were also offered a few rounds of very small appetizers and a small plate of desserts. The food tasted pretty good, but there was not enough of it. On the positive side, their service was good. I visited SPIN for the 1st time 7/22/19 for my birthday. I made a 6pm reservation before hand to ensure my party and I would have a table to play a few rounds of ping pong. I love the fact SPIN allow children to enter their facility. (I have a 6 year old and am always looking for places that are kid friendly) Our server, stacy was kind, friendly and was very accommodating! She has an awesome smile and personality! The atmosphere is nice and laid back! My only issue is the food. I ordered chicken pepper sandwich with avocado and a side of fries. My husband ordered a lettuxe thai wrap (he added chicken) the price of the food didn't match up to the bland and flavorless food. The fries were a tad bit salty! . I did let our server know. She was very apologetic about the bland food. A few people in my party ordered the sliders, mexican popcorn (that was tasty) and grilled chicken bites (lacked flavor, big time) I will say, skip the food and go for the libations. Ping pong spot I came here for a tourism event promoting travel to the Philippines As a event space , this definitely fit the bill I didn't partake in the pin pong but I was an active observer and the crowd was hype!
