Please take 5 minutes to read this post, it could save you! I also ended up here after the fraudulent "good reviews". On 07.20.26, we dropped off a Diesel Engine truck that had gone into limp mode. Truck had to be towed a long-distance home or drive slowly to a repair shop. Saw good reviews & landed at Spike's Auto Repair in Jefferson, GA. After 3.5 hours and a $225.00 diagnostic fee (Level 2), the diagnosis/subsequent repair needed was: Remove and Replace Right Fuel Injector (One) No.1, No. 7, Cylinder 1,5, 7, Sierra, Silverado ($800), Program Injector ($450), Standard Ignition Fuel Injector ($433.90), Standard Ignition Fuel Injector Connector ($139.31). Total Labor and Parts Above: $1,863.55 (#5 injector and pigtail/harness). Total Diagnostic Fee + Labor/Parts Above: $2,088.55. On 07.23.2026, after being told it took 7 hours, 3 different scanners, and eventually having to "go through the back door" by tech David Martin, the truck was ready. Only it wasn't ready! 20 miles down the road, engine light was on again, truck again in limp mode. This is where the issues come into focus. Truck was driven back to Spike's at 40mph. After 3 more business days, it was determined on 07.29.2026 that the truck now needed NOX sensors for another $1,245.00, repair was declined. David told us he was continuing to get different code(s) every time he plugged his scanner in. The truck was picked up. We had asked Alexis at least 3x in 10 days for another mechanic to look at the truck, told that was not possible. Truck is taken to another shop in Athens, GA. After 10 full days at Spike's, the shop in Athens had the truck completely fixed in 30 minutes. All it needed: a pigtail/harness on the #5 injector. $195.70. The pigtail/harness that we were told was already replaced. The #5 fuel injector was good, did not need replacing. The other shop did utilize Spike's diagnostic, another diagnostic fee was not charged. It was discovered that the truck was not repaired at Spike's after paying $2,088.55 for a #5 injector and pigtail/harness because Spike's had replaced the #6 injector and pigtail/harness. The #6 was always in good working order, there has been no documentation to prove otherwise, and this explains why the scanner could not program the new #6 injector properly. The programming was never done; Spike's had just cleared the code(s). On diesel engines, the #5 fuel injector is on the passenger side, on gas engines, it is on the driver's side. Spike's had been working on the driver's side where the 2, 4, 6 & 8 fuel injectors are. Spike's had replaced the WRONG injector and pigtail/harness. Now financially we are being forced to cover that mistake, or risk further issues as will be described below. Spike's did offer $1,574.31, BUT that was contingent on bringing the truck back and allowing Spike's (and David, original tech) to remove the #6 injector that was mistakenly replaced, to get the new one they installed, and return to their vendor for a refund. That was the ONLY way any money would be returned. By the time the massive error had been uncovered by the other repair shop, the #6 injector had already left Spike's facility and had been at the vendor warehouse for approximately 1 week. At the advice of the shop in Athens, GA that repaired the truck and uncovered the major error, it would be a huge liability for the original #6 injector to be replaced for 2 reasons: 1. Once parts are removed, they are haphazardly thrown into boxes with no padding or insulation and subject to high risk of damage between transport and handling. 2. There would be extreme uncertainty that the original part could be guaranteed as identified as those parts could be mixed in with other similar parts. There would be no way to know if the original injector was being put into the truck since it had already left Spike's facility. Everyone has acknowledged this was an honest mistake, but we are now out $2,088.55 from THEIR mistake. Spike's Auto Repair has now refused to return any funds. Sent me out in a hazardous vehicle. cross threaded the bolts that put my gas tank onto my truck and didn't strap it in. Multiple screws missing from an unauthorized dashboard breakdown from the gauge cluster, "inspection report" was a joke and completely inaccurate. Promised to refund money if I brought back the parts the incorrectly installed, then when I got there they denied the refund stating I would hear from them after an "internal investigation" was done. No proof that the 963 dollar "repair" they did even actually needed to be done and conveniently the parts they removed that would proven that as well were "thrown away" just a day or two before. Overcharged for a repair that not only did not fix my problem, but caused new problems to my truck. Will be taking measures for a full refund. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SPIKE SLOAT. read more

I took my car to Spike's and received great service. Howard was very nice to talk to about my Ford Explorer that was running rough. They offered to drive it with me to try and see what the problem was. read more

The staff were amazing and easy to talk to. I brought in my Audi and they were familiar with the issue on the car and were able to repair it in a timely manner. They also provided me with a thorough inspection of the car of other components that will need replacing within the future along with time expectancy. I appreciate everything they did here and I will 100% come back if any issues were to arise. read more

I took my granddaughter's Toyota Camry in bc of a check engine light. Spike's diagnosed it, and it was going to cost me $7200, more than the car is worth. I sent the estimate to another repair place, and they would take care of the whole list of things it needed for $2900. Then Spike's had the nerve to charge me $180 to diagnose the car. Stay away from these folks. They're crooks. read more

My car needed to be topped off with oil. Took it here and tbey said i needed an oil change for 100.00 because they couldn't mix the oils. I took it to another place down the road and they did it for free. read more

I can't in good faith recommend Spike's Auto Repair. The experience myself and my mother had at this place of business was anything but satisfactory. In fact, taking my car to Spike's Auto Repair was the worst decision I've made as a car owner. Probably like most car owners I want to protect my car and the investment I put in it, but I don't have a lot of surplus money laying around, so therefore I have used Carshield. Some repair shops don't work with them, which I understand and some do. When I found out that Spike's Auto Repair worked with Carshield, I figured this was good news since Spike's suggested all this work my car needed to be done after I brought it in for an oil change. And on top of that, Spike's has a sign in their shop that says something along the lines of proud partner with Carshield or proud to be partnered with Carshield. So I brought my car in and they were going to talk to Carshield about what would be covered and what not would be covered. Mind you the work that they suggested was in reference to a timing belt replacing a CV axle, etc. So I understand that these can be big jobs. However, what took place over the course of my car being at the shop was a runaround not only from Spike's but Carshield as well and since this review is in reference to Spike's, I'm gonna stick with criticism of Spike's Auto Repair. For someone that works with Carshield or says that they are a proud partner and that they've had plenty of work done with Carshield. I question this company because they explained to me that they were trying to save me money by using third-party parts instead of OEM parts. And this became a huge problem because Carshield wanted to use OEM parts and this delay repair estimate that was supposed to be sent to Carshield by Spike's. So when I say delay, I had to have a rental car for the entire time that my car was in the shop at Spike's and the negligence and the sheer laziness from Spike's put me out thousands of dollars on this rental car because Carshield would only cover it for so long. On top of this, Spike's kept blaming Carshield for the delay and took no responsibility for an estimate of third-party parts that they sent instead of using the proper OEM parts that Carshield required. Not only this, but we agreed on a specific amount and Spike's Auto Repair ended up charging a lot more than this almost $600 or $700 out of pocket. You're not going to convince me that Spike's Auto Repair is anything more than a money pit. The experience that my mother and I had as a result of this shady and very awful repair shop is the worst we've ever had. They took no responsibility for the delays that they themselves caused and kept pointing the finger at Carshield and this ended up costing my mother and I thousands of dollars not to mention they're shady fees that they added on at the end. Beware of Spike's Auto Repair and the money pit that they are. I would not recommend Spike's Auto Repair and just a heads up, the positive reviews on here are probably false because they offered me a hat if I gave them a positive review. Dishonest, ripoff. I asked for a battery replacement and to make sure the car wasn't killing it. They wanted 600$ for the battery and when I said no way they wanted me to pay them almost the same amount for diagnostic I didn't ask for. Had to get police involved to get my car back they never worked on. Every other interaction was equally negative. Poor business practices and hi way robbery read more

They towed a car and ended up installing the wrong alternator, then refused to make it right or return the card to the residence. Don't deal with these people. read more

We consistently receive good service from Spike's Auto Repair. Sarah is pleasant and friendly, and the mechanics give honest and practical assessments of problems. They have serviced three of our vehicles over the last year; the first time scheduling a tow for us. read more
