I had a trip planned and needed a meal prep service, so I decided to give Spicy Girl Meal Prep a try. Despite seeing some negative reviews, I thought it couldn't be that bad. Unfortunately, my experience was a total disappointment. I paid $205 for the service to be delivered and was very clear about when I needed the food by. However, the food was never delivered, and I was given the runaround when I tried to contact the company. They claimed that the food was not delivered because of the holiday, which was unacceptable. When I finally got a response from them, an assistant named Dana texted me to say that they were closed that day. This was after I had called repeatedly and left several messages. It was clear that they had no intention of delivering the food. At this point, I had to come up with another solution for my meal prep needs, which was a huge inconvenience. My wife called the company from a different phone number and was told that we would receive a refund. However, we never received any refund despite reaching out to them through email. In the end, I had to dispute the entire process with Venmo to get my money back. Overall, I had a terrible experience with Spicy Girl Meal Prep, and I would advise anyone to stay away from them. They are unprofessional, unreliable, and clearly do not care about their customers. Update: I find it outrageous that I had to resort to contacting several mutual friends on Instagram just to reach her. Finally, one of her friends came forward and told me that she had mentioned my experience to Jade. I was very clear with her that Jade was lying about the situation, and that I intended to leave a review about it a year later. It's interesting that Jade has just reached out to me with an invitation to have lunch and fix the situation, which seems shady and as if she's trying to cover herself. I reached out to Spicy Girl since the reviews were great, but after speaking over email with the owner I chose to go with another business. After asking a few questions, the owner just sent me a copy-pasted response from earlier in our conversation that was very unclear. When I asked for clarity, she said "look at it again". She expected me to find the one tiny edit she made in a massive PDF image with zero context. When I responded, she said she "guesses she can't expect everyone to be as polite as herself". Please believe all of the bad reviews. My partner and I were searching for a meal prep company and were so excited to try her meals. She was super nice and responsive in the beginning. The first issue happened with ordering where we did not get our meals on the original requested date, which she says she misunderstood the request. This was a red flag for my partner and should have been for me. We asked for a refund then but she pushed to switch it to the next delivery date stating"the food would be better because she had less customers for that delivery day".Second red flag because the food should always be good and fresh but we agreed, sensing that a refund was going to be a problem. Skip to our delivery date, I drove 40 minutes to pick up the food (which was my choice to drive, she did offer to deliver for a fee). 3rd red flag is the food was not in any temperature controlled packaging. Which was a real cause for concern because where had this food been and for how long? Thank god I had a temperature controlled grocery bag in my trunk. The food was in the to go containers you can buy from Costco wrapped up in a regular grocery bag. But at this point I was still trying to be optimistic lol. 4th red flag- As I stated earlier I ordered a package for me and my partner who have different dietary needs. When I returned home with the food we were missing 3 days worth of meals for the both of us as well as our meals were the same, something I did not expect. When I emailed her and asked about this I was told she didn't pack the meals her "assistant" did and that she just gave bigger portions to my BF which made absolutely no sense seeing that his goal was to lose weight. Another red flag as there was no quality control or review of the order before it went out. We asked for a refund for the difference for what we payed for and what we received, which response was delayed and had to request multiple times, she tried to push off to a credit for future orders but after tasting the first days meal we asked for a refund. She agreed and we have yet to receive it. 6th red flag was the food itself. There was no effort put into the food. It was bland, basic and nothing close to what is presented on her website. We received what I'm guessing was boiled chicken, with under cooked rice. Unseasoned ground turkey and cabbage. Pasta noodles with a bunch of tomato sauce . Again nothing close to what she presents on the website. 7th red flag- my bf got sick after eating the first 2 days of food. I thought maybe it was something else but I got sick as well. We ended up throwing all the food we had left out. We each took it to work and our co workers wouldn't even touch it! And some of them would eat almost anything. She was super nice in the beginning but as soon as the errors popped up she was no longer responsive and start stating again her "assistant" was monitoring the emails which was causing the delay in response and refund. That was never the case until the issues start happening as all prior communication was with the owner. I really wanted to support a black business but this one just isn't it. I wish I would have paid a little more attention to the reviews before I purchased the package. It was definitely money wasted. I also wish I would have taken more pictures of the meals. Not sure how her stars are so high. If you do decide to utilize her services, do not buy a large package as you will not get your money back with any errors she has made, request that she package the items in some type of temperature controlled packaging, check your items before she leaves, and maybe request specific food, do not leave it to her imagination.Buyer do beware! Unfortunately I can't find a reply button to the response to the review so updating the original: I definitely expected an unprofessional response and lack of accountability seeing how she has responded to other negative reviews but never expected the outright denial of services. So just in case anyone is wondering who I am: I am a former customer who was scammed out of her money, did not receive what I paid for, promised a refund and never received it and finally got around to reviewing. Screenshots of correspondences with Jade have been attached to the review. If you look back through other reviews you will see the same containers used and the fact that she is denying that she even put the food out in the pictures should tell you something. 2019 was a year of construction for our family. We ordered many weeks of meals during that time. We were extremely satisfied with every meal. The food is fantastic!!! The marinated veggie salad is an amazing side dish to go with your protein at dinner. Our house burned down during the remodel. We were displaced, living in a hotel for 7 weeks. Miss Jade Payne surprised us by sending meals to our hotel. She knew we couldn't cook and wanted to give us some peace and normalcy at one of the most hectic times in our life. I have followed up on email and once on one of the phone numbers listed. There is no reason at all. Now I see on the website that no refund on any circumstance. It is my fault that I didn't read it, I spent $1100 for a food that was promised per my diet and I have nothing. I know I will just get a reply - "I am sorry you feel this way..." to this review, just like others who got it. I feel cheated. So if you are thinking of this service, I recommend ordering a smaller batch and verify it is per your requirement, rather than paying monthly. Do not pay the whole month amount at once. Reply for comment: You should make it clear that you will not be able to follow it to the T when taking the order and money. You never said that before. Here are some MAJOR issues with this service, which BTW, I was very excited to try: 1. First Red Flag: I signed up for Keto and the first delivery had food that are not allowed on Keto. I sent Jade an email - her response was a little rough around the edges. So ok, my expectations lowered - don't expect friendly or polite. She said she would address it with her staff and send replacements along with the detox tea that was not delivered on the following Friday. 2. Second Red Flag: The food packages don't have labels, so you don't know what you are eating. Quality is questionable at best because again, you don't know what you are eating: Is this ground beef or ground turkey or ground rat meat?? The mystery meals (meats) are just gnarly! 3. Third Red Flag: Food is not delivered in a temperature-controlled boxes so if you are not home (because she doesn't specify delivery time either), your food will be sitting behind your door - expect the obvious outcome!! 4. Fourth Red Flag: Friday rolls around and a member of her staff delivers the missing keto meals and the tea (again unlabeled) in a gallon size plastic bottle- the kind that was once a water bottle. ONCE AGAIN, content unknown. At this point, I was too wary to eat the food, so I threw them away. I sent her an email to stop the delivery and asked for a refund for the three weeks of food that I no longer was interested in trying ( I had paid for 4 weeks and only received one week of food). Her response was abrasive and rude, and she refused a refund. {Don't pay her via Venmo because if you have a dispute, it is very hard to get your money back.} My recourse: I have filed a report with the BBB and a complaint with the health department. The law requires proper labeling of the food particularly if you claim you are providing meals that are accommodating a certain diet regimen: keto or low carb or paleo... I would have loved to support a small business but clearly Jade doesn't think she needs to comply with regulations and health ordinances imposed on food providers. I lost over $1000 on this experiment and encourage anyone who is reading this to be aware. She is a charlatan and this is a sham - unless you don't care about the content or quality of the food you are eating, go ahead and believe the phony reviews, which were most likely written by her friends. I have switched to Factor: the food is not frozen, it is fresh, delivered in a temperature controlled box and contains proper labeling including the ingredients used, the composition of the calories, and it is less expensive that Jade's food. read more

On Mon, Dec 12, 2022, I purchased the Monday-Friday Meal plan with an expected delivery later that week. Upon my confirmation, I was told that there was an issue with the delivery date and that my order was to be postponed until the following week due to heavy rain conditions... Later that week I was told again via email by Jade the owner that my delivery would again be postponed due to bad food delivery. After two failed attempts, I was disappointed of the continuous lack of execution and delivery of my order by Spicy Girl Meal Prep and requested a refund. Jade, the owner, confirmed with me via email on 12/14/22 that I would receive my refund within 7-10 business days. That time lapsed and I did not receive my refund. Every time that I called to follow up I received horrendous customer service and still have not received my refund. After months of reaching out and sending demand letters from my lawyer, there has still been no response or refund. I was hoping that Jade would rectify this sooner but because she has not, I am posting a review here. They still had good flavor, and I just added some of my own sauces at home. I ordered 14 Paleo meals and a large veggie salad from Spicy Girl Meal Prep while our kitchen was being remodeled, since paleo would be hard to keep up with no kitchen for three weeks. Everything was SO good, and right on plan for me! You can list items you want and items you don't like and they customize every meal just for you. I couldn't eat all the meals the first few days, so I put several in the freezer. The day before I want them, I just put them in the fridge. By lunch the next day they're thawed and easily microwaved. Everything is so fresh and delicious. I will definitely be ordering again. read more

WOW! This food is amazing. The meals are just absolutely delicious. From the moment I signed up to get the food, it was so easy let them know what food i was willing to eat and not willing to eat. They prepared everything to my liking and they DELIVERED it right to my doorstep. I work and commute, so this amazing service is SO convenient especially when you are trying to find time to spend with family and fit in gym time.
