The place was busy on Saturday morning (around 945am), not full, but diners kept coming in. Certainly, a popular local brunch spot in town. We ordered the waffle churros with added fried chicken ($19). It was really good though i wish the waffle was a bit crispier on the outside. The syrup was very thick like honey! We also ordered the breakfast burrito with avocado and chorizo (added cost so it became $20). I really liked the chorizo, they grilled it so it was a tad crisp, and loved that it wasn't very salty. We also ordered the meat (chicken) handmade pie. The filling was generous, the crust though i wish it was a bit more flaky and crisp. This was just ok. Their latte and chairs latte were good too. Food came out about 15+ minutes after we placed the order. Restroom was reasonably clean and overall ambiance and decor of the eatery were inviting. The matcha tasted water down not even green. The coffee was ok but I didn't really taste the lavender. I feel it was too much money for their coffee. It was hands-down the best decision I made all week. I started with the sangria. While it could use a little refinement, it was still refreshing and paired nicely with the meal. Then came the tapas: Gambas al Ajillo - garlicky, tender, and packed with flavor Brandade de Bacalao - creamy and comforting, even better than the one I had at Zuzu's in Napa Mushroom Toast - an absolute must-order Grilled Romaine & Tomato Salad - surprisingly crave-worthy, fresh, and beautifully balanced Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and bursting with flavor. The service? Above and beyond--friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We ended the night with stuffed churros, and Dios mío... they were divine. Crispy, warm, and indulgent in the best way. It's a breath of fresh air to finally have a place like this in downtown Vallejo. For too long, your garden variety fast-food joints have plagued the area. During our experience, the staff were all friendly and personable. The food, put quite simply, was great. The chicken in our dishes were flavorful, perfectly fried and juicy. The service and food: excellent. Buttermilk fried chicken sandwich was absolutely amazing! I had the truffle fries as my side, but my friend had the house salad and it was an excellent option, perfectly dressed and just the right accompaniment to the sandwich. The chicken breast was hefty and cooked just until done, not overcooked at all and the coating was crispy, light and well seasoned. The bun they served it on was quality and really held up to the juicy chicken breast. My sandwich stayed in tact and it wasn't soggy but the end of my experience. I hate when that happens. Also had a side of the Brussels sprouts. 10/10 would recommend. I'll have to go back to try the chicken and waffles as well as a cocktail. Looking forward! read more

Can I just say wow?! First of all, this place is super cute! There random intriguing art all over the place. If you stop here, take a look around. Make sure you hit the bathroom. The custom wallpaper is everything! The staff are super friendly and attentive. I was frequently asked if I needed anything and greeted with genuine friendliness. Outside they have a lovely shaded dining area with pillow-topped benches and a bucket of side-walk chalk in case you feel inspired or just want to play hop scotch! The food was fresh and delicious. I had the fried avocado tacos with a vegan house side salad. The avocados were fried perfectly, laid on cabbage in corn tortillas and drizzled with a vegan house-made aioli. The salad greens were fresh and crispy. My son had the chicken and waffles. It was his first time trying this dish. I think he licked his plate. Healthy food prepared with love that I can bring home, heat up and feel like I am pampering myself with zero effort - THIS is what has been missing from my life! You place the order online and pick it up on your way home from work. The fish was SLIGHTLY underdone for my taste, but that was easy to fix and so much better than overcooked fish! *Yellow Split Pea and Bacon Soup (GF) (DF) - Wonderful flavors! *Barley Salad with Roasted Winter Vegetables, Curried Pumpkin Seeds, Feta Cheese, and Maple Balsamic Vinaigrette - For me, THIS was the meal's highlight. The MOST delicious salad I have ever eaten in my life. The roasted veggies included sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts. I could eat one of these every day of the week. Love this place. Menu is innovated, and still looks and sounds like real food. Some time they carry some of the more traditionally ethnic foods like potato pancakes with sour cream and apple sauce. Vallejo finally gets urban foodie food for the masses. Mind you, I walked out $30.00 lighter for a tofu banh mi sandwich, a pre made salmon dinner, an iced mint tea, and oatmeal cranberry cookie. Once I saw that total and added a tip, my small mind went into a mini sticker shock. However, being the Libra that I am, I quickly balanced this with memories of very greasy West Berkeley barbecue with a delicious sauce, countless number of dishes ordered locally and out of town but not eaten, and a sinking feeling that I'd never be totally satisfied. Even on a fixed income, I realized that this is about as good as it gets. On my long and slow walk home, I slurped on the mint ice tea through an ecologically sound paper straw. It was sweetened but not overtake the fresh mint flavor. The banh mi sandwich surprised me, I've never had tofu as the center piece. While I quibbled about the bread not really being Vietnamese, I could tell it was fresh. What brought it home though was the sirichi aoli and the pickled vegetables (not too sweet). I really didn't miss animal flesh at all, and enjoyed the velvety texture of the marinated tofu. (Don't know if the aoli is vegan) I did take a few bites out of the oatmeal cranberry cookie and again, thanked the chef for not pouring pounds of sugar into the batter. I like my cookies thinner and more crisp, this had a crust but was thick and barely doughy. I'll try the thinner chocolate chip or butterscotch next time. After this lavish lunch, I'm not sure that I'll eat my dinner this evening, but I had to write this while I still remembered. read more

I got to experience League of Chefs when they started to cater to my workplace (I work at a school!). I have a very "picky" family, i.e. there are several random food items that we don't like, so I was sure that the delivery service wouldn't work. However, I decided to try one week because the prices (for food delivery) were extremely affordable (especially for a full-time working mom with a toddler and a very busy husband!). Nicole emailed me personally and made me feel totally ok with making alterations to my dishes, including "light on the cheese," etc. When our meals arrived, they were super easy to prepare, and most importantly, extremely delicious. I felt like I was eating high-end food at a fraction of the price. Everything was fresh tasting, yet satisfyingly filling and savory. My husband also noted that the enchiladas we had could really fill one and a half to two people if you also got the salad! Their salad dressings also really stand out - definitely get the jars! You can save the extra for later on during the week. If you're a working parent who wants nice, healthy yet savory, fresh, high-end food for an incredibly reasonable price, I highly recommend League of Chefs! I look forward to my next order. read more

I work within walking distance of this place and finally tried it out. It's a nice option for lunch and a great addition to Vallejo. I tried the fried chicken sandwich, a salad and the cardamom coffee and they were great. The pricing is higher for this area of Vallejo but it a nice change from the usual especially since there are not many options for food like this in Vallejo except Urban Counter. The only negative is that the food isn't hot if you're getting the special (the fried chicken sandwich) for the day and it's pretty hard to reheat a fried chicken sandwich. read more

Over the past two years, our family has tried various home delivery and home chef services and League of Chefs offers hands down the best combo platter of delicious, nutritious and fairly priced. We now order food delivery at least twice a month. The cost is not much more than were I to take the time to grocery shop, cook, and clean up. With League of Chefs I get a really good bang for my buck. Nicole sources local organic vegetables and meats in bulk so the costs are lower than what I pay at Berkeley Bowl or Monterey Market. And the meals are so tasty. The owner, Nicole, is extraordinarily patient, personal, and professional. She was so impressive by phone that I had to meet her in person. I hired her to be the personal chef for a 50 person sit down dinner in honor of my mother's birthday. She took care of everything, no stress, no drama, I didn't have to do a thing (Nicole has a stellar team) and they served up the perfect meal, and everyone was ooooing and ahhhhing. League of Chefs rocks. I've never used a service like this, but heard about them from a friend and decided to give it a try. We aren't fancy people, so I assumed a personal chef service was not something I'd ever do, but this is both different and affordable. I know there are a bunch of food delivery apps out there, but there's something about all the packaging and the produced-in-huge-quantity thing that isn't so appealing to me. LOC is small and personal and their food is BOMB (they have menus you can choose from, or can tailor things based on what you want or are looking for) and they're super convenient. Plus, things that are in my fridge that I haven't used and need to be ASAP - get magically whipped up into something awesome that I would never think of myself (for example, this week - three zucchini I was neglecting magically became zucchini latkes!). Having a bunch of dinners and lunches ready to go for the week is an absolute game changer. I'm totally hooked. Highly recommend. read more

We tried League of Chefs for the first time this evening, and WOW, it was seriously dee-lish-us!! For health reasons we're trying to go vegetarian (having recently attended the "plant-based diet" class at Kaiser Permanente, which recommended the book we're now reading "How Not To Die") -- but we're finding it really difficult to come up with (quick) meal ideas and/or meals that we can buy pre-prepared. I had heard about League of Chefs in the local paper, and I was happy to see they have lots of vegetarian options. We had the "Vegan Chipotle Sausage over a Lentil Kale Stew with Mint", and shared a salad. The meal was *very good*, with generous portions of the entree. It was also filling and satisfying. My wife and I have had a number of League of Chef's home delivery meals. Each one has been incredible, the flavors explode in your mouth and the servings are quite ample. If we were to go out and buy the ingredients it would cost us far more than the delicious meals that Nicole and her crew prepare.
