We decided to try it, drove 1 hour to get there, and we were NOT disappointed!! We ordered a few items from the menu-- Red Jollof Rice with Fish, Peanut Butter Soup with Fufu, Chicken Shawarma, and then we asked the gentleman taking our order (sorry I didn't get his name) to suggest something he thought was really good. He picked the grilled lamb with couscous. Everything was delicious!!! Even our son, who is extremely picky, enjoyed it! Yeah, we're going back!!

We made the trek from the north side of town over and it was worth it. The place is immaculately clean and the menu is an extensive list of cuisine from all over the world. From Jamaica to Ghana and place in between. I know this could be a difficult balance to strike, but it was done well. I ordered the oxtails with rice and peace and plantains. The order was a nice size but I do feel the oxtails portion could have been bigger. Lots of sauce but not a lot of meat. The seasoning on it was very well done. Spicy but not too spicy. Well balanced. I enjoyed it along with my well portioned sides. The person with me got jollof rice and chicken. They said the rice was good and the grilled onion on top of the chicken was perfect. The chicken wasn't to their personal taste but looked well portioned and prepared. They also had a variety of bottled drinks to choose from like mango and hibiscus drinks. I would go back.

I ordered takeout from Elle Et Moi, which was chicken egusi, yam fufu, and jollof rice. It came as a combo. The egusi was delicious, absolute perfection. Slighly spicy and very generous with the chicken. I didn't know what to expect it to taste like, but it far exceeded my expections. The portion was generous. The jollof rice was very tasty. A bit of a kick and seasoned very well. I really enjoyed it. The only thing I didn't like was the fufu. I wanted to like it, but the texture was off. It didn't pinch off and roll around in my fingers like I've seen, where I make the little indentation to scoop up the soup. It was kind of dry and crumbly. Maybe it was warmed for too long and overcooked or something. I'll try again next time, and maybe try the plaintain version next. I'll definitely be back and look forward to trying other dishes!

I have had other African food in the Triangle and I am always wanting to try new places and saw this one on Tic Tok so I wanted to try it. I got the Goat Egusi with the FuFu and Spinach. The best of the 3 by far was the Spinach. It was nice and flavorful and has zucchini in it. The Egussi was ok not as flavorful as I've had before. The GOAT was tender but had lots of small bones. The FuFu was not as smooth as I think it should be, the texture was off. The place was nice and clean and they have a POS system for you to place your order and pay and you can eat in as well. They also see items for you to cook some authentic foods at home. I will give them another try, maybe they had an off day. If so I will update my review for sure.

Such a gem! I loved having cuisine I've never had before…read more I made a reservation, but when I arrived, i realized there would of been availability without reservation. They had my table ready and were very warm in their welcome. I hadnt had food like this before and the staff was kind in taking time to explain the dishes and make recommendations. I have the dova rice and pili piri chicken wings. The wings were spicy, nutty, juicy. So delicious! The rice dish went so well with the chicken. It had peanuts in it and the texture of the rice was so unique. It was a match made in heaven. The ambiance is so elegant and calming. I'm glad i was able to come in casual attire and not feel out of place. It was nice to see people outside the restaurant peacefully staring at the waterfalls. I'm so glad i got to try this restaurant during my trip in Durham I was so memorable.

We made reservations for four and it was easy. Though when we reached it was not busy at all Unfortunately the two tapas that we wanted to order were not available may be because we were there around 7, but that is not a justification because our choices got very limited Cauliflower was mediocre with a large floret on the top of peanut/coconut sauce, and vegan crab cake was average with a peri peri kinda sauce at bottom, but corn was really good though I had to use my hands to eat because cob was attached. Goat was good with tomato based curry and have bits in the curry and pieces as well but the qty of pieces was too less, chicken wings are extremely good, they melt in your mouth..mocktails were yummy but I found the quantity very less with lot of ice in the glass... my husband enjoyed his old fashion tamarind drink with bourbon, though we could not taste the tanginess of tamarind... water was at room temperature ...overall a ok place for a relaxing dinner but not compelling enough for me to drive again 40 minutes. Place definitely felt overpriced for the amount of food ...

It seemed like only one person was running the entire front of house (hosting, waiting, etc.), but luckily there were only a few groups there so the wait wasn't too bad. We ordered the veggie sambusa as an appetizer and then the meat dish sampler for our entree. The veggie sambusa were pretty tasty! Nothing crazy good but generally satisfying. The meat sampler consisted of kay wot, doro wot, and beef alecha. The kay wot and doro wot were pretty decent but the beef alecha was definitely my favorite. Of course, the injera was tasty as expected. I didn't order any beer for this visit but the selection looked pretty interesting, in that there were some choices I'd never heard of before. Overall, it was a good experience. Maybe not my absolute best Ethiopian meal, but not bad at all, and I'd definitely come back.

I had never tried Senegalese food before, but I saw lots of options that looked great on the menu. I ended up choosing the Chicken Yassa, which is marinated, roasted chicken legs over a bed of rice, served with plantains and mixed vegetables. The chicken was so super tender and flavorful, and went really great with the vegetables, which had just a little spice. They also have some really tasty juice and drink options. I really liked the juice I tried, made from the baobab tree. It was creamy and had a great sweet flavor. The owner was very nice and helpful as I decided what to get. Definitely check this place out (and also the other vendors in Blue Dogwood). This is a really great way to get some delicious global cuisine while supporting local restaurants close to Franklin St. (as a side note, it has it's own parking lot too, so you don't have to pay or search for parking along Franklin St. Always a good thing! They also have a really nice patio area).
