Vineyard Bay Auto & Diesel Repair

It will need new front brakes in a few months and the rear pinion seal is leaking at the drive shaft. I could not be more satisfied, or complementary. They're professional and fast, having my truck done in just a few hours. I'm pleased we have this shop so close to home. A special thanks for Jenny, who helped process the order and keep me informed when work was completed.

That business is long gone. They are now owned by someone listed as an investor who owns other automotive shops, sadly not a "mom & pop" place anymore. They also use the name V Bay. (Photo below) While the current owner acquired the business very shortly after my son had "work" done there and I use the term work very loosely due to the fact that things were done wrong, pieces were broken and paint on a custom painted truck was damaged. The current owner chose to acquire the name, the building and even the employees but NOT the warranties!!! We had $3500 worth of transmission work done on our vehicle which again, came back with more problems than it went in with. My son immediately spoke with the owner which at that point was the original owners son, however, all of the other current employees were still there and was given a price of $5500 to fix the truck because now other things needed to be fixed, AFTER they "fixed" it!!! So of course we opted out. Fast forward to recently when a mailing came out advertising Vineyard Bay and I decided to put up a FB post on a couple of our local pages just to inform neighbors of our experience with the shop because I knew that they had been a trusted name in our community for a long time and obviously they were not the same company anymore . I had a lot of people reach out to me both on the post and privately about issues that they have also had with Vineyard Bay. Representatives from Vineyard reached out to us after finding out about the FB post and my son and I went in and spoke with them. They offered to fix the vehicle for free, tow it to the shop if need be, make sure a "master mechanic" is the one who would work on it and the service manager would oversee the entire process. *** 1. Does it take something of this level to get a higher skilled mechanic to work on your vehicle? If so why did this not happen the 1st time? *** 2. Shouldn't the service manager oversee all work? How much trust would anyone have in a shop after an experience like ours? We explained that the truck was in the process of being repaired and that we had no desire to bring it back to their shop for any type of service. We were asked "what would it take for you to take down or change the FB post?" Our answer was simple, a refund!! We weren't asking to be compensated for additional labor hours that had now accrued, new parts that had to be purchased, or for other parts that had been damaged. We just asked simply for a refund of the $3500 paid to a company that yes, was in the middle of a transition of ownership but assumed a well known and trusted local name, a location and employees but not customer warranties. When we met with them on 1/16/26 they said they needed to speak with the previous owner and see if they could recoup the money from him to refund my son. They got back to us yesterday and their answer was "no." They did however offer my son an oil change, not some of his money back, not to cover new parts....... just an oil change!! Now I will say that the two gentlemen we have dealt with, Travis and Chris have been very polite, professional and respectful throughout the past week and we appreciate that very much. Unfortunately they have lost our business and the business of many of our family & friends. They were interested in my original post coming down or being changed so I figured I at least owed them an update on the original post, only fair right? They did ask. This is our own personal, honest experience and review of Vineyard Bay automotive/ V Bay Automotive ~ feel free to draw your own conclusions. ***one of the mechanics that worked on the vehicle wrote: "customer is a pain in the ass ~ little midget " SEE PHOTO in marker on one of the parts before installing it into the truck. It was found when the truck had to be taken apart again to be fixed.*** The company does say that they fired the employee as soon as they saw the photo of this on my original FB post. I've been going to Sun Auto in Lakeway since I first started driving, and I honestly can't…read morerecommend them enough. They've always been incredibly accommodating, quick, and genuinely friendly. What stands out most is their honesty. They take the time to explain what's going on, never push unnecessary work, and always try to find the most affordable option. That kind of transparency is rare, especially in auto repair. They're also impressively fast. They've consistently done their best to get me in the same day, and if a part is needed, they're upfront about timing. More often than not, they're able to get parts within minutes, which is amazing and keeps things moving quickly. Another thing I really appreciate is the environment. Their lobby is always clean and comfortable, something that definitely isn't a given at most shops. I've trusted them through every stage of my life, from my early cars to more advanced vehicles, even classics--and now I trust them completely with our family vehicle. That says everything. If you go, ask for James or Philip. They are both incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and just great people to work with. At one point, I moved about 45 minutes away and still made the drive back here after a couple of bad experiences elsewhere. That alone should tell you how good they are. It would honestly be a mistake not to give them a chance.

Brought my 2020 ford f150 in as the AC stopped working…read more I was charged for diagnostic (like all shops) But I received a quote for almost $5500 for a complete AC system overhaul. new condensor, compressor, core, and the expensive r-1234 fluid. I was shocked. i took the truck back, popped the hood and immediately found 5 chewed up wires right next to the battery.. not hidden or tucked away.. legitimately right next to the battery, 3-4 inches away from the positive terminal. I cut them back with a pocket knife, did a quick repair to see if it was the cause of my AC.. (it was) then fixed it properly. I was happy that I didn't have to pay out $5k for AC but very frustrated that a problem like that was not found nor diagnosed. Even though it was payed for. Aside from the diagnostic charge, i took off work, and didnt have my truck for 1-2 days while they did the "diag" Also the shop's hourly rate is over $200 an hour. For oil changes and basics suspension sure (but over priced) for any serious work do not take your car here. This is like a mcdonalds for auto repair.. (except very expensive) Maybe they knew about the wires but wanted to charge for actual work (i hope not but you never know)
