Butter naan perfectly crispy
Lauren D.

My husband wanted a five star dinner to close out our trip to Great Wolf and our family of 4 were blown away! I am so sad we are not closer as this Indian food is some of the top we have ever eaten. Butter naan out of the gates had the perfect softness with a touch of crisp on the bottom, slight shimmery sheen of butter (ordered 2 servings and could have eaten a 3rd). Mango chutney is a must for me - could have been a slightly bigger portion but delish, along with the tamarind and coconut chutneys that are part of the meal. We ordered Asian chili calamari and it was perfectly crisp and batter was egg free (another household allergy). Butter chicken was a winner for my younger one - contender for our favorite place in Jersey. If you have a nut allergy, note that they may use nuts in some of their spice blends and will let you know that up front. That said, my allergic child ordered chicken tandoori and she also said it earned top Tandoori status. My husband ordered chicken Chettinand and had no hesitation eating leftovers the next day (even as a vegetarian, the reheat even smelled amazing!). My favorite Navratan korma of all time is served here - other restaurants load up on tons of cream or have a bad ratio of veg to sauce. The hint of fresh cardamom in the spices and perfect balance of cream in the sauce (not too much) - plus the right veg mixture just made this a favorite Indian dish of all time. I think I had 3 spoonfuls left and insisted on putting it in a to-go box. Super super food and so glad we found this gem (and it's fresh ambiance!) during our travels. Ps - don't forget the mango lassi!

missed the rice delivery and refuse to send it again or refund. Very bad service after paying 16$ + tips via uber eats to get food

Very bad service l. We ordered via uber eats and the rice was missing. They refused to send the rice or refund. 16$ service fee + delivery fee and such bad service. I don't recommend ordering from them

Lemongrass soup, Lamb Tikka Masala, Butter Naan

The reviews brought me here! I started with the Lemongrass soup which was flavorful and spicy. I had the Lamb Tikka Masala for my main course with the butter naan. The lamb was cooked just right and the meat was nice and tender. The butter naan didn't stand a chance lol! Loved it all and left full!

Highly Recommended: 4 1/2- 5 Stars. We've enjoyed Spice Route for several years. Every one of the Indian & Pan-Asian dishes we have tried have been beautifully prepared and delicious. Service is friendly, informative and helpful. The level of heat in each dish can almost always be tailored to your taste while the rich flavors are nicely maintained. Slice Route is one of the best restaurants in Northeast PA and anywhere. You will not be disappointed.

Butter chicken and tikka masala aftermath

My boyfriend wanted Indian takeout. Forgot to take before pic here's the after! It is Friday night. Flavors were good! We were both satisfied.

Went to this restaurant with curiosity and left with disappointment. Food: - The food was under-seasoned but very spicy. The Goat Curry had spice but not much curry. The fried rice was ordered with specific requirements but was served with none of the requested modifications. A dessert was ordered but never provided. - Some of the meat was cooked well. - The rice was cooked well. Service: - The servers were dismissive and did not listen to orders. Quality: - The ambiance was fine but much of the decor felt cheap - There were several instances of filth on utensils and drink cans. - They served drinks in cans instead of pouring them into cups. Overall: - The recipes are not authentic and taste nothing like they should. - This was a tacky experience.

After a wonderful day of outdoor fun and National Parks, it was time for some Asian comfort food; and we hit the jackpot with Spice Route. Spice Route USA is a fusion restaurant serving your favorite Indian, Chinese, and Thai dishes. Great Service Yummy Food Good Prices Nice Atmosphere Tonight's menu choices include the following: * Cauliflower Manchurian * sweet corn soup * whole fried red snapper with chilly * chicken tikka masala * garlic naan * palak paneer * Mango Lassi Check them out. Yum!

The shrimp probably had the most fragrant seasoning I ever tasted and the shrimps themselves, though deep-fried, were still plump and juicy, cooked perfectly. My wife loved their fish tikka (salmon) and the chicken biryani was solid too and came with tasty raita on the side. They also had Indian pickles, a favorite of mine that surprisingly not many Indian restaurants have on their menu. As an added bonus, the dining room is inside a train car, which my son had a lot of fun with. Service was great , very attentive and prompt. Can't wait to go back whenever we're back in the area.

We are greeted with a friendly greeter and it's like visiting an old friend. We sit in our favorite Train Car and enjoy the smells coming out of the kitchen. What to eat? Everything is delicious. We love to try new things and our waiters always give us suggestions and experiences "from home". The serving sizes are generous and prices are fair, enough food to take home for lunch the next day. Food is served sizzling hot. I love spicy, they gladly accommodate with side sauces and the challenge is on! Love all the breads, soups, fish, shrimp appetizers. Lamb Chops are to die for, spiced to perfection. We go back at least twice a week. Never ordering the same food twice. You won't be bored, this is an understated gem in the Poconos and we're lucky to live here to enjoy this.

Indian Masala - Garlic Naan

From stepping inside, you're given the allure of entering someone's home but greeted with a minimalistic, modern restaurant atmosphere. Service was A+ and the food even better! We ordered the garlic naan, chicken tikka masala (spicy) and lamb vindaloo (spicy) - all were stellar! The masala almost tasted like vodka sauce which was a first for me and I'm NOT complaining. Some of the best I've ever had, to be honest. Will be going back, for sure.

***2 1/2 stars*** As…read morea native of the Kingdom of Hunterdon, I tend to grade on a curve/appreciate when an ethnic restaurant, or really any establishment that's not just selling pizza by the slice, sets up shop in a pretty rural area. The tradeoff though is that sometimes these places just aren't very good. Indian Masala has a ton of great reviews so maybe I DID just come on an off day, but in my experience, these restaurants often get inflated positive feedback because the patrons just don't have perspective/experience to compare it to (the Hunterdon comp is Bamboo House in Frenchtown, which is very average but is literally the only sushi place must residents have ever been to). I genuinely don't know what the case is here. I stopped by for lunch yesterday with one of my top-tier chums, herself a native of the Kingdom of Sussex. She's a pretty big fan of this place and has mentioned it several times before. We both had pretty big appetites and were ready for a hearty meal. Comparatively speaking, the interior is a little on the bougie side especially for downtown Newton - high-class chairs, sleek tables, etc. I don't think there were any other customers in there when we showed up so we got our pick of the seating and I happily chose the table in the window for potential people watching outside. The highlight for me was the Gobi Manchurian app, which was fried cauliflower florets in a garlic sauce. I thought a few of the florets were overcooked/soggy but overall it was pretty decent - it tasted to me almost like healthy Chinese food, if that makes sense. If we didn't have legit entrees looming on the horizon, I would have had a lot more of that. The Chicken Tikka Masala was literally the worst I've ever had, and probably the only negative experience I've had with the dish. I'm by no means an Indian cuisine expert, but this to me is one of the more mainstream "Americanized" dishes and thus rare to mess up. The chicken was rubbery and dry and definitely wasn't helped by the accompanying curry. I got mild, but this was so mild to render it almost tasteless; it should have at least a little nip to it, but this was so rough that I chose to eat my accompanying naan bread naked without dipping it. Just a gigantic miss in my book and I'd recommend to any future customers that you opt for at least medium spice here. The service was hard to describe and ultimately a wash for me. In many ways it was technically a positive. Our waitress was very attentive but our interactions were a little awkward/odd, much of which can likely be chalked up to cultural barriers so I don't see a need to ding them for it. But as an example, any time my water glass was 80% full, she'd swoop in to fill it all the way to the top - literally the water level would hover right at the edge of the glass so I had to be careful not to spill when I took the next few sips. And once or twice she came by to fill up my chum's glass while I literally was drinking from mine, and she just stood there like a vulture until I placed the glass back on the table so she could swoop in. Especially given that my water was never close to even halfway empty, it was just too aggressive. But it came from a good place so your mileage may vary. Little odd all the way around. As much as I love to highlight restaurants in this area, this one is a pass for me. Much better options for Indian food closer to the city.
