Simple, unassuming restaurant with good Indian food. We were passing through em route to graduation at Binghamton and looked for a place to stop for dinner. Spice Kitchen was a nice surprise. Trying not to sound like one of "those" people, we are from NYC and enjoy a lot of good Indian food from different regions. We enjoyed this very much and are giving it 4 stars because the dishes we 4 enjoyed definitely rate above a 3. We did not try anything from the Chinese or Thai sections of the menu. Can only speak to the Indian and Indian fusion dishes. They were tasty, fresh and worth the visit. Not fancy but spacious and there was parking. Also, relatively quick on and off I-80 if you are just passing through. It was pretty quiet when we were there. After the dinner hour and so just one server/host and kitchen staff. We used to come here when it was called Spice Route for their reasonably priced and tasty lunch specials. Now they only have a lunch buffet that is double the cost and not nearly as fresh or good. Do yourselves a favor and go to a better Indian restaurant in the area of which there are several around Stroudsburg or Belvidere. I had not been to the Spice Kitchen in well over a year but finally got back there. For some reason, it was empty this Wednesday, but I soon landed at a table and ordered their Burrata Butter Chicken. The place is spacious with a full bar and comfortable seating -- and the establishment is always clean. The dish was quite satisfying, with the right amount of cream and spicy tomato. The tomatoes used in the dish were so fresh and ripe, they added a bit of sweetness to the sauce. I certainly hope the restaurant is packed on other evenings because it should be. The serving sizes are not worth the prices they are charging. we ordered simple items to go and it didn't come with the expected items. The Gulab Jamun was supposed to come with ice cream and it didn't. We ordered some papadums and it came without the chutneys. We walked back in and had to request the chutney and no ice cream was giving. The restaurant was desolate and drab. I wanted to give the restaurant a try and the benefit of the doubt. I love Indian food, but I won't be coming back. The portions are small and there prices are on the expensive side. Not worth it! read more

I was really in the mood for Indian food so stopped here. When I arrived I parked in the private lot. I walked in and the server told me I could sit at the bar. His English wasn't the best but he understood me a bit. The place was empty when I walked in. I started with the pinot noir and it was cool. For my dinner I got the kadhai shrimp and added potatoes. I also ordered naan. Even though I didn't order right away the one and only server disappeared in the kitchen at times. When the food came out it looked great and tasted good as well. Today I ordered takeout for the first time from here and it was amazing. I got the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. My order was ready when I got there and the guy seemed friendly. There was the perfect amount of chicken to go with my rice and naan. The spiciness made my heart smile. It was so flavorful and perfectly made. Wow! Just moved to the area and we ordered take out so don't know about ambience, service, etc. But all the dishes we ordered were DELICIOUS. The spices were spot on and we will definitely be making this our go-to Indian restaurant. The prices are high for the small amount (and even smaller amounts of meat in the main dishes) but that won't deter us. Plus will definitely look into their lunch specials. read more

Unprofessional reception guy, understaffed restaurant and poor service sums up the place. Even if you somehow have a good experience with eating food there, either/all of the above mentioned will make you furious and regret eating there. Expect Deep brand frozen vadas refried and served in the buffet, plates not cleared after each service, non-operating ATM when they only take cash and not-mentioned-anywhere - 18% gratuity(which I still paid). And oh, no one smiles in the restaurant. Just looking at Google responses the owner gave to customers with kids and pregnant ladies make me wonder how this guy came from a restaurant background where customer service is the most important thing! Went on a Wednesday for the buffet after reviewing the buffet pictures, but was disappointed to see just 3 food stations with , 2 chicken dishes and a mixed vegetable. There was one dessert, rice pudding. A few over fried chicken and dry wings and salad with condiments. The buffet was $20 each. When asked, why there were such few choices, I was told, they have a larger buffet on weekends. Food was bland, service was fast for our extra orders of Veg. Hakka noodles and Goat curry which we brought home and found that there were exactly 5 half inch pieces of goat immersed in gravy! Very disappointed, since we paid about $23 + for the goat curry alone. Vegetable Hakka noodles were very bland and tasteless, with slivers of carrot and green bell peppers... I counted exactly 4-5 tiny slivers of each. All in all, a very big let down for the $100 we paid ( With tip). We did have 2 cocktails, one of which was filled with Cranberry juice and tasted like a virgin cocktail. The ambiance was nice, with a glass covered outside dining area with lights. Expected the food to be tastier at least, especially with 3-4 Indian buffets around, as their competition. read more

Not sure if there's been a change in chef or ownership in the past year, but clearly there has been a change in quality in the food- diluted, tasteless, and inauthentic! Terrible representation of what actual Indian food tastes like. Will not return again. I was excited to try a new Indian spot here in PA, so I came to spice kitchen. Looked really nice and colorful inside, and very festive. Smelled good inside, which was prob why I ordered more than I should. I ordered a chicken tikka masala, Paneer makhni, and a sesame chicken. Overall the chicken in both meals was very fatty and chewy. The sesame chicken was in a thick batter and very soggy. The most disappointing was the sauces, the same sauce was used in the tikka masala and makhni, I can't even explain how it tasted, very earthy. Not sweet/savory/creamy like we expect our tikka masala to be. The rice portion was tiny and unsalted, didn't taste like basmati, tasted like Chinese white rice. The hostess was nice, but there was an unfriendly man pacing around (assuming that's the manager I've read about). When I went to celebrate my fiancé's birthday in June on a Sunday evening it was relatively empty. The waiter was nice, he forgot one thing we ordered, but we weren't charged for it either, so no loss. The dishes we ordered were the Chicken Tikka Masala, Vegetable Samosas, Garlic Naan and Lamb Kadhai. The samosas were super fresh in feel and taste and very flavorful. Good food but .... TERRIBLE TERRIBLE service. When we walked in, manager or whoever asked "what is this?" in Hindi at our party -- referring to us as inanimate objects. Extremely rude. Need some manner lessons or language lessons, not sure the problem. The cloth napkins smelled extremely bad. We placed the order and the food arrived 30 min later. When we asked why our food was taking so long, the same manager told us "the food is being made. I will bring it out when it's ready." We didn't ask him for this useless explanation. I went there on a Monday and the restaurant was quiet. I had the $16.99 buffet that had many choices and was good. I can't say what I had since the tandoor chicken is the only name I recognize. I know what I like by sight. Buffet included naan.. My spouse can't eat spicy food and the butter chicken was too hot for her. 3 of us got the Buffet and the child got the lb korma. I thought the buffet was good. They did not refill the eggplant entree the whole 40 minutes we were there which sucked. The eggplant curry was pretty good The roti was good, as was the samosa Chaat. The samosa Chaat was probably the best part of the meal. The saag paneer was ok, kind of plain like the korma. The entrees are pretty small for the prices. There are only about 8 pieces of chicken in each one. Lots of sauce. If given the choice, definitely go to Spice Route instead. read more

So many incredible flavors whether you are going for Indian or Thai. Colorful, clean, comfortable ambiance, full bar and awesome service to boot! They are always helpful with my dietary restrictions to make sure I get everything I can out of the menu. This place is the absolute WORST restaurant Ive been too. The manager was so incredibly hostile with my group he began to shout. There was a disagreement about what we were charged and its was a simple discussion until the manager acted unprofessionally to such a length he had told us to get out and became unreasonably aggressive. They charged us for "customer service" when they did not interact with us to any length or direct and guide us to where we sit or what to do. I was there with my best friend we were sat in the corner next to two older men who looked down their noses at us when we were speaking. The two older men continued to look down their nose and even moved their table away twice mumbling under their breath.
