Never been to the restaurant physically, so please make your own call. I have had their food for over three years now, but catered and provided at the company I work, for what ever reason, the Indian food is always ordered and catered from Spice Grill for all our events, in our office or for off site activities. The food is always average and tasteless, it has mixed tastes or just looks of the food not the taste. I say mixed, as it is hard to pin point if this is having south Indian touch or north Indian flavor or what. Recently had Vindaloo as Spice Grill catered our outdoor event, regardless to say, very disappointed and even the daal and paneer were average, I am forced to write this review hoping that owners read it and make some adjustments, Vindaloo and paneer tasted same, and why on earth it has to taste sweet. At the least, call a Goan and ask how to prepare it, if at all, adjust the heat for non- India palate, but not the spices, please. Go easy on tomato paste or keep your hands away from sugar. The mutton was not as tender as one would like, the curry's smell sits on your fingers for hours, and I did not feel the satisfaction of eating healthy and satisfying food. I could have only one half piece of naan and grudgingly went to the Tex-Mex fare that was the other option, needless to say, it was far better to have tacos even when Indian food was available. I feel guilty for writing this review, I have reconfirmed that food was from Spice Grill, I have never visited the outlet or paid for the food. Stopped in to try the buffet which, while on the smaller side, had some interesting offerings. I tend to skip Indian buffets since they all serve chicken tikka and tandoori. While they had both here there was a chili chicken that was very good. It was crispy, little sauced and mixed with sliced peppers which gave it some heat. I also tried the aloo burtha, paneer, and chili eggplant which were all quite good. I also liked that they had achar among the condiments wince you typically have to ask for this. Came here for the first time with family friends during lunch- graduation celebration lunch! The food was good - in the buffet, they had malai mushrooms, dal makhani, palak paneer i believe, aloo gobi or was it mixed veggies (not sure), raita, eggplant sabji, rice and other non-veg dishes! Ooh they also had veg friend rice which i simply loved with the raita! The raita was a bit sweet but so delicious. It gel-ed with the fried rice perfectly well! I also liked the malai mushroom sabji with buttered naan! We ordered the garlic naan but it lacked flavor in my opinion. I have had good garlic naan before. The dal makhani was a bit too salty in my opinion if you're sipping on it by itself. The sirka onions were my favorite as well. Overall, my experience was nice! Got the name from an Indian friend and tried it one weekend for lunch buffet. For 11 dollars, you have the choice of salad, several chicken dishes, vegetarian curry dish, a on-the-spot dosa station, and a dessert. You are also served with fresh made warm nann. The chicken was very tender and flavorful. The dosa is really good and it comes in a small size so it doesn't fill you up totally. The vermicelli dessert I had was very delicious although my husband find it a little bit too sweet for his taste. Overall, very good Indian food and I'll definitely go back there again. read more

Lately, we've been going to this Indian restaurant often. It's small, but the Decour is really nice, worth sitting in rather than take out. The food is excellent. Everyone in my family is vegetarian and the owner and cook will come out and talk about the dishes to give us peace of mind. The owner passed away recently who we miss dearly but his wife is doing a great job running the business. I recommend this to anyone snd I'm ready to go here almost every night. read more

I have eaten here about four or five times and each time, I've had shrimp dishes. Each one has been superb. Spicy means "spicy" so don't say it if you don't mean it. Although located in one of Northern New Jersey's many strip malls, these guys manage to offer a nice decor and a warm ambiance. The waitstaff is friendly and professional, always greeting me and my family warmly. The waiter who served us tonight remembered my favorite dish even though it had been more than a month since we had been here. I like this place and I think you will too. read more

I've frequented Tamarind in NYC along with other places and Spice Grill beats them in terms of taste and price! Their chicken tikka masala is on a whole other level... The spice the flavor... It's the best chicken tikka masala I've ever had! The service is immaculate- and the overall ambiance of the restaurant is classy and clean. I'm not from this area but was craving Indian and this place got pretty good reviews. We ordered Chicken tikka masala, chicken palak, navartan korma and garlic naan. Obviously my favorite was the chicken masala. Chicken palak was a bit too spicy and navartan had too much dairy flavor in it. But it was interesting how all three dishes were very different. Food is delicious. Seating is not so crowded that one cannot walk from our table to the buffet. There is a large buffet selection. And it is not all sauce. Korma are delicious. Tandoori chicken was my favorite. The rice pudding takes great but it is very gluey w lots of starch. Bathroom is unisex. I generally get very turned off by that. The chairs feel sticky. As a regular consumer of Indian food, this was sub-par. We ordered out the palak paneer (saag paneer) and malai kofta with "medium" spice. Both were very bland. The malai kofta was watery. As someone else said here, there was no complexity in taste. There are much better options in the area for good Indian food. Try somewhere else for better taste. The prices were comparable to nearby places but the taste was inferior. Most places give papad, some different chutneys, chopped onions, and/or a lemon with your order. Meh, I don't see the attraction to this place with so many other Indian restaurants in the area. Chicken Tikka Masala had an odd sauce - almost like there was cheese in it. And it was kind of sweet. Yum! Love their mixed grill and samosa chatt! I've been here numerous times and I'm pretty sure we order the mixed grill every time - it has lamb, chicken, sausage cooked different ways served on a hot plate! I wouldn't recommend this dish for take out, it's still good but much better served fresh. The restaurant is relatively big compared to others in the same shopping center and the wait staff are all pretty attentive. I would've given it 5 stars if restaurant was in a better location. Came here with a buddy of mine for lunch today. The selection was not huge for a buffet but all the food was excellent. Tandoori chicken was perfect, the chicken with Chile's was great as was the chili eggplant and chicken tikka Masala. I was expecting a tasty meal after reading the reviews but the flavor, quality, and service surpassed my expectations, and certainly surpassed the super-cheap $10 price tag. The food was hot, fresh, tasty, and full of flavor and aromas. There were roughly 8 entrees, two types of rice, a few appetizers, and a dessert as well as various condiments & chutneys to accompany the complimentary - and fresh & fluffy - naan. The chicken was tender and juicy, not dried out and salty as buffet chicken can sometimes be. I definitely loved the Chicken Tikka Masala most, but everything I ate was enjoyable. The food I tried was decent but here is another huge turn off about this place. It's dirty. Like the walls next to our table had splatters all over them. The floors were disgusting. So my wife and I came to Spice Grill on accident.. Well, not on accident, but we went to a different restaurant and they didn't have anything on the menu that I really wanted, so we walked out.. Classy, huh? Anyways, We showed up for the lunch buffet, not knowing whether we were going to pay $10 or $90 per person because it was our first time there. The staff was immediately attentive and sat us right away. There wasn't a large crowd when we showed up, but just one table with a lot of people. The vegetarian selection was vast. Since my wife and I have become vegetarian, we have not really eaten out at an exclusive vegetarian restaurant. We have eaten at several Indian restaurants and have never seen such a large amount of Vegetarian dishes at the buffet. Everything was good, literally everything. Dare I say, this was the best Indian restaurant I have been to. As I am writing this, my mouth is watering, just thinking of how rich the sauces of each dish were. The owner even came up to us and asked us like the dosa he prepared for us. i was surprised to see know they have all you can eat buffet on a weekend.... i love Indian food so buffet is good because i can try all different curries and not have to order the whole plate... so i do like it a lot... i wished they have more verities on meat - they only have chicken and veggie dishes.. i was hoping they have lamb.. they do some someone doing something "fancy" on the hot plate and it was very tasty!!! My curry was on fire so I could not taste it. I ordered samosa for appy, it was hard shelled and dry, it was very hot spiced, my husband got veg pecora which was much the same but without the heat. Dry. Crumbling batter that was well fired. For dinner I had chicken tika masala, one bite and my lips and throat were on fire, we got paneer tika masala, was same. My husband got mixed grill kebabs. The chicken was actually very good and not over cooked. We took most of our food home, plus we got chicken tika masala, pecora to go for our son who was unable to join us. I went to the Spice Grill on 7-23-16 for my birthday dinner with my husband. I was looking forward to going because I love Indian food and I have two small kids and don't get to go out to eat as often as I did before I had my kids. The food was excellent. We had the grill platter, which is a combination of kabab meats and vegetable pakoras. The meats well delicious. I didn't care for the pakoras, but I have been to handful of Indian restaurants and always think they are just so-so. We had the Aloo Paratha bread. It was soooo good. I liked the other food, but I really think the naan was the best thing we ate. For main dishes we had a lamb curry and chicken Tikka Masala. Both were good. I have had a better Tikka Masala before. This one had less spices then I had before. The meat in both dishes was tender. We were also survived white meat with the Tikka Masala. The lamb curry was very good. It had a very good sauce. The service was fine while we were eating. They promptly filled up our water when we started to get low. The food was brought out rather quickly. All the prices were resonable. For two teas, appetizer, naan, and two dishes it ran about $50. We were having a wonderful time until a rather large cockroach crawled across the floor near us. Now I'm not exactly the squeamish type, but as soon as I saw it I did start to feel sick. My husband called the waiter and discreetly pointed out the bug. The waiter attempted to stomp on it multiple times, but the thing wasn't going down that easy. So he just kicked it away from us over and over until it was in another room. The waiter never apologized or commented on the bug. He just kind of shrugged when it wouldn't die and did not seem surprised to see it. We were near the end of our dinner when the unwanted visitor made his presence known. My husband and I just tried to joke about it with each other about it, but it did wreck the mood and how I felt. I later told what happened to a friend who has worked in kitchens and he insists there are cockroaches in all restaurants even the fanciest of places. I don't know if this is true but I just know I have never seen one in a restaurant while I ate before and never heard a person tell me they saw one while eating. Even though I loved the restaurant up until then I could never go back because it leaves me feeling queasy. I also didn't care for the lack of response from the waiter either.
