The hubs and I are in the area for Pride parade and found this place. The servers spoke English and had an English menu. Space accommodates about 3 tables for 2, 1 patio seating for 2-3 and one big table at the back that can sit 10 max. The coffees are reasonably priced. The hubs got a cappuccino (1 shot) and I got a latte (2 shots) for EUR2 each. We both liked the latte as it tastes more like the cappuccinos we get back home - strong flavours. The cappuccino was average in taste and volume to what we are used to back home. The menu includes teas, hot chocolate, cold brew, fresh fruit juices. Wifi is available and they have A/C. Overall, good place to enjoy talking and drinking coffee and tea.

Food: 3.5/5.0 Service: 2.5/5.0 Value: 2.0/5.0 Decor: 2.5/5.0 Overall: 3.5/5.0 Expensive slice of very good carrot cake. Definitely good enough to give it a try but not good enough to make me go out of my way for it. Pricey.

One of the best café's I have ever visited! Everything from the café's design to the service was amazing. The coffe and the cakes were both cheap and tastes really good. I would defiantly go back. Little tip if you go there: order Their homemade limonade.

As I was browsing through Barcelona's most popular places, I found Spice and the fact that it had so many positive reviews made me really curious. When we planned our trip towards Montjuïc, we decided to stop here for a coffee and a pineapple lemonade as we were walking in the neighbourhood anyway. We couldn't resist the the red velvet cake either, because it looked so great. These also proved to be really delicious, so we did not regret our choice, of course. I like the interior, too, it is absolutely following the current trends with the the shabby chic of the tables and the wooden shelves. Spice also seems to serve as kind of a community hub with English classes and a book club - so it is the kind of place I would be a regular at if it were in the same city as I am. As this is unfortunately not the case, the only thing I can promise myself is that I will also try the carrot cake next time I am in Barcelona.

They have coffee roasted by Hidden. Hidden is run by three brothers and export worldwide, according to Endri.

This is an amazing place to sit and work while drinking coffee. I'll probably try the cake - apparently it's famous.

Carrot cake. Delicious. 3.75€ a slice

Dropped in with a couple friends to study and try the famous carrot cake. The goods: Like the reviews said... GET THE CARROT CAKE. It's perfectly moist and sweet and flavorful. And I usually don't like cake. Cafe con leche was standard, nothing crazy, but it went well with the cake. My friend got the ginger lemon (?) cake, which was also good, but not as good as the feature dessert, personally. The ambiance: Cute, cozy, clean. There are a couple seats outside, a couple small tables and a long table inside. Free wifi. The people: Amazing! They were super nice and friendly. The guy that took our orders was very sweet and made us feel welcome. The boss with the "magic hands" was also very nice, although he didn't talk to us. I would most definitely come back for the goods, ambiance, the service.

    Carrots cake :)

Great, beautiful and warm place to taste awesome cakes, bagels and good coffe. Brooklyn style. I tried the carrots cake with a caffee latte and everything was really good. Besides the bartender is really nice. You gotta go :)

Red Velvet cupcake, carrot cake, and a cinnamon latte. Life doesn't get much better than this.

A truly original café in the heart of Poble Sec, just off of Carrer Blai. Phenomenal coffee (ask about their seasonal flavors!) with desserts that will keep you coming back to ask for more (and the recipes!). The service is warm and friendly, just like the café. A great place to meet up with a friend for a merienda or to get some work done at the common table (which has a great story behind it, like all the furniture and decor... just ask the owner!).

Coffee cake! Before it was devoured..

Oh. My. God. This is such a delicious coffee shop. Right when we walked in I was so impressed with the layout and the owner was soo friendly! We ordered a cappucino, a chai, an Oreo cookie, two bagels, and the coffee cake. Which was AMAZING! Anyone that visits barcelona must come here! The only thing wrong with this place is the fact that I can't live there. Seattle approved!

Excellent small yet cosy cafe with my favourite carrot cake! Coffee was excellent too and they had chai tea latte for those who like their tea spiced up with cinnamon! The cappuccino and carrot cake cost a little less than 7€. The cheesecake looks just as delish but we couldn't eat any more!! It's easy to find, barely a 5-minute walk from the Poble Sec subway station and a nice part of that neighbourhood. I think the raving reviews are pretty reliable as I would definitely recommend stopping by for a sweet treat!

Stopped in last week for an afternoon coffee and cake with my husband while on holiday. The coffee was very good and the carrot cake (as everyone else has stated) was delicious. The portion size was very large and we had to get a box to take the portion of cake we couldn't finish. Not the best carrot cake we've ever had but notable and I would certainly go to Spice again. Overall I'd recommend Spice- hopefully next time I can try their homemade Oreos!

Best desserts! We were already stuffed after dinner but had to try the 3 desserts, carrot cake, coffee cake and orange mandarin pudding. All of them met my high expectations. Desserts were eel made with lots of flavor but yet not super sweet or buttery. Perfect cream with the carrot cake! We plan to go back again!

Italian on an onion bagel!! €5! So good!

Best carrot cake I have ever had, and wonderful service. I wish we were staying longer so we could go again. It has a great atmosphere, too.

I don't know if it's just me as an American or what, but the temperatures of the foods was my only "complaint" per se. Some of the tapas I thought would be hot were lukewarm at best. So, I'll have to try more places to just see what's normal for Spain.

Pair it all with a cold Estrella and you've got yourself a 5-star winner! I loved the fun learning curve here: grab a plate, pick whatever pintxos catch your eye, and keep the toothpicks (of all shapes and sizes!) so your total can be tallied at the end. Some toothpicks were just holding things together -- I had to laugh at that -- but it's all part of the charm and experience. La Tasqueta was so good that we came back a few days later for another round, only to find it temporarily closed due to a plumbing issue. Sadly, we couldn't wait since we'd already hiked all over Montjuïc earlier that day. We tried another pintxo place down the block -- it was okay, but honestly, not even close to the same level. This place is amazing -- friendly, fun, and absolutely delicious. Sit inside and be dazzled by the colorful pintxos lined up along the counter, or grab a spot outside under an umbrella and watch the world go by. Loved this place... 5 stars all the way!

And I'm going to order the Fuck Your Diet tasting menu as well. And it was fucking good. Now back to the G. Rated review... Bread with Smoke Butter. Smoked Butter is a beautiful thing, you don't see it in the states often, and for sure I would like to. It's a thing in Barcelona though, and I had it several places Raw Oysters and Grilled Oysters in pickled chicken soup. This was a nice two way presentation. I have to say I'm a fan of grilled oysters Burrata with seaweed pesto and candied tomatoes. This maybe sounded a bit more interesting than it tasted. Candied tomatoes kind of reminded me a stewed tomatoes. But burrata is always a good thing. Shiso Taco with steak tartare and horseradish. This was a miss for me. The Shiso leaf is getting way overdone at the moment, as it seems to be everywhere. It's obviously very common at Japanese sushi bars. I missed having some kind of crunch with the steak tartare. Maybe flash fry the Shiso leaf to make it crispy? This was all one texture Grilled Black Angus Hanger Steak. This was the best dish of the night. Smoked table side with a mini torch on wood embers, it smelled and tasted wonderful. Sweet and Sour Bonito with currents and radicchio. Hit all the right notes, no complaints here. Cuttlefish fried rice with Iberian pork. Had a beautiful crisp layer of rice on the bottom of the pan and the pork and cuttlefish went perfectly together as a surf and turf. It's Spain in a skillet. Passion Fruit Sorbet was a nice palate cleanser, wasn't super sweet, which led nicely into the dessert. Caprese Cake with Hot Chocolate and Orange. I love this flavor profile, which you never get in the US. The citrus of the orange cuts through the richness of the chocolate. Loved it. As far as tasting menus go, It's closer to 4 stars for me, but the place gets 1 extra star for the name and the vision that the chef always wanted to do things right when he owned his fucking restaurant. Now he does. Respect!!!!
