Some staff are rude. My son appointment was at 8:00 and part of the process started at 9:00 . They need to hired more people with experience and good costumer service. Although the orthodontics staff and doctors are better, polite and offer a better customer service. read more

Please DO NOT BOOK ANY General DENTAL APPOINTMENTS HERE!!! However, ORTHO appointments for children are awesome! It is unrighteousness to only have 1 Dental Hygienist and 1 million hygiene appointments scheduled!!! its always something with this place and if you have an appointment here you will always be here at least 3 hours Due to lack of communication with the call center they books, double books and mid book appointments!! They are extremely unprofessional with the exception of the tall light skinned schedule coordinator that has a great sense of fashion and professionalism!! They are always short staff and if you don't have a personal therapist and/or Jesus, you might lose your mind in this place!!! They are the worst!!! Period read more

Terrible service and they take a long time and most of them spend it talking and not doing their work

DO NOT GO HERE!!! They wanted me to get 6 fillings when I don't have any cavities!! I waited 2 hours only for a dentist to look in my mouth for 30 seconds, say "you have a bunch of cavities" and walk away. No one showed me where the "cavities" were or informed me of a treatment plan, just said that I should come back the next day for fillings. When I got a copy of my records, the dentist had written that I needed SIX fillings. I went to get a second opinion from a different dental office the next day and they couldn't find a single cavity. Spencer Dental also made it extremely difficult to get a copy of my x-rays and patient information. And while some workers were nice, others were very rude. Overall, there were a LOT of red flags. I would not trust any diagnosis from this place. read more

3 1/2 hrs. Just to get my signature and told to come back for my cleaning. So 3 1/2 hours, wasted of MY TIME. For me to get my cleaning done. No communication what's so ever. Do better. read more

I took my cousin here Today around 10:00am he didn't get seen until 11:45am the oral surgeon Lee pulled all of his teeth and gave him nothing for pain. I went to the pharmacy only for them to tell me they had not received anything from the dentist and his assistanT Leslie told me everything had been sent over. She lied. Before leaving I tried to get some gloves and the clinical manger as she called herself told me that they were low on supplies and that I had to put them back. Thank goodness I took some anyway because on the way home blood was every where. This is so wrong and I feel like this place needs new management or shut them down. read more

Place sucks. Scheduled me at 8 am on a Saturday. Turns out they don't even open till 9 am so I showed up early for nada. if I could give not zero but negative stars I would do that. Don't go here unless you want wasted gas money early on the weekend when you've worked all week and maybe would want to sleep in. Also if you've been getting confirmation texts, don't believe it. I got multiple yet when I called an ai with keyboard sounds in the back, yes keyboard sounds. It told me I don't even have an appointment scheduled. Even though I got not 1, not 2, but a whopping 3 confirmation texts. Good luck read more

Such an unprofessional dental office ! Front office over schedules appointments so I had to come in every day for three days straight without the staff thinking this can be an inconvenience. The actual dentist that was able to see me rushed the consultation and told me next day he saw extra cavities while filing in the cavities he saw the day before (took me two day to get cavities filled bc of the overbooking problem) don't waste your time it's so unprofessional read more

if zero stars was an option it would be 0! this place is racist i went in for my appointment and didnt even get looked at the front desk lady was "checking me in" or so id hope pull another women up while with me up there and gave her all the attention and then 20minutes of them checking her in she tells me its too late to check in and i need to reschedule absolutely worst freaking place read more

Never come to this place ever!! I waited a long time, just for them to do nothing, and I waited 20 minutes just for them to say they'll call me back since the insurance needs to be "approved." And they never called me back, horrible experience for the first time in my life! read more

I wish I would've checked Yelp before making an appointment here for my son. He was scheduled to see an orthodontist, but after he waited for almost an hour, they canceled his appointment because they were overbooked. I wasn't happy about it, but rescheduled anyway. Today was the rescheduled appointment and they told him that the orthodontist wasn't there. SO WHY DID YOU RESCHEDULE HIS APPOINTMENT FOR A CLEANING! Nobody asked for a cleaning! It was originally an orthodontic appointment. What sense does that make? My son's away at college so I wasn't there with him. While I'm on the phone trying to sort it out, he tells me he has to wait in a line to talk to the front desk. And meanwhile, It's Getting Hot in Herre is blasting in the background! WHAT KIND OF ESTABLISHMENT IS THIS? I told him to walk out the door. I called their customer service and received excellent service. Too bad the office isn't like the call center. The one star I have to give is for the lady who helped me when I called. Thank you to her only! read more

Big open space with maybe 10 dental chairs. Not really kid friendly and looks old and creepy. There was one person going from patient to patient. I cancelled the next appointment but they keep rescheduling. read more

ran with horrible management never seen on time, then they work slow and see multiple patients at 1once The manager is highly unprofessional , somehow always find a way to flirt with my husband or dad. So I'm switching to another office read more

This place is so unprofessional and everyone is confused. I have had incorrect charges placed on my account, charges that weren't even filed with insurance. I cannot ever get through when I call to discuss. They call to schedule my kids' appointments when they're already scheduled. I keep getting out of pocket costs when I know what they're charging me for is 100% covered my insurance. Doesn't matter what your appointment time and when you arrive, you will wait and sometimes up to 2 hours to be seen. I have always made it a priority to be not only on time but early to all appointments to cause as little stress as possible. read more

I have NEVER complained about a business before in my life but I have taken my children to this establishment 3 times and every time there has been an issue. I've had appointments cancelled with no phone call to let me know. I've waited 2 hours past my appointment time to be seen and I've had someone schedule an appointment with a dentist that they later claimed "does not do that procedure on this day". The level of incompetence and lack of respect this place has is unreal. The staff at the front desk is rude and unhelpful. I will never go back. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

Came to get my silver fillings replaced bc they were starting to become sensitive and the filling came out that same night I got it done. The waits are ridiculously long. I understand being short staffed but you shouldn't have patients waiting an hour to get called back, put the numbing gel on and leave you in the room for another 45 mins, come back to do the numbing with the needle and leaving the room for another 45 mins. Then rush to get your fillings or whatever done. Staff is very unprofessional and sloppy. There was only one staff that was actually pleasant to talk to and nice. Everyone else acted as if they hated life and wanted nothing to do with anyone. Like at least smile, pretend or something. Part of customer service. My teeth are still sensitive and I feel like I need to go get them done again somewhere else. I'm not confident with the work they did. I should have listened to the reviews. I tried giving them the benefit of doubt but it bit me in the butt. If you can avoid this place, please do. read more

This place is VERY unprofessional. I do not recommend. Only giving one start because the lady who did my x-ray was on point but other than that i would never go here again. read more

If i could give less than one star i would, Next to the name Spencer dental it should say MINIMUM 2 hour wait I had two appointments at the Spencer dental Cunningham Dr, Both appointments i sat in the waiting room for two+ hours (with an appointment both times) Upon actually getting back to the dental room waited 1 hour for anyone to even come back into the room Oh my god not to mention the dentist began doing oral surgery alone without an assistant & had to leave the room in the middle to go get someone , when the assistant arrived to help she stood in the doorway finishing her gossiping conversation with a coworker while my lover is bleeding in the chair ... If someone don't report them!!! Staffs volatile attitudes & unprofessional behaviors are the icing on the cake When have you ever waited 2 hours in a dentist waiting room lol Never come here I would not even recommend you have your pets come here for dental work Good luck read more

Spencer dental is probably the worst place you can go. I rather goto the DMV. Problem is they are the only place that takes Medicaid insurance so everyone is stuck. It's very difficult to get appointments, you must make them in person. If you call them on the phone it goes to a call center that can't do anything without contacting the office. They never answer at the call center and when they do answer they won't be able to get ahold of the office. The person at the desk says they don't answer the phone because they don't have enough people working in the office. Appointments for adults is a whole other issue, it's March 23 and they are setting adult appointments already November-December and in 2024. Personally for me I would rather deal with pain before dealing with Spencer however I have to deal with it for my kids. If I could rate negative stars I would. I'm also writing this review at 2:30 waiting in the waiting room for my 1:30 appointment. This place is dreadful, it's a Medicade factory trying to make money off of numbers with no regard to the patients. read more

warning dont go to spencer dental in newport news va. the dentost fell asleep while working in my sond mouth and cut his gums. the office staff is unprofessional, the cancel appointments over and over, management is never available to speak with ever. i will be contacting the dental malpractice board and report and sue them. read more

Had a 9am appointment. Got stuck on bridge for forty-five minutes. Tried calling for over an hour,to let them know what was going on and should I reschedule no answer. When I arrived there were two people sitting at the front desk when I I formed them that I had been calling,I was informed that they were too busy to answer the phone. Really. The phone was ringing while I was there and neither one tried to answer the phone. It was the poor excuse. You can answer the phone. read more

Very unorganized and unprofessional. They over schedule which makes everyone late. To many people in one space especially during a pandemic and don't return complaint calls. It took two weeks to even get someone to answer to schedule an appointment and less than 2 minutes to decide my children won't be seen there ever. read more

I had a tooth break so I went here to get it filled and the doctor said I need to get a root canal so they sent me to a specialist. Especially said I do not need a root canal to go back Spencer dental and get my tooth filled. So I went back and they refuse to do it saying I need a root canal which I do not so now I have to find a different dentist that will do there job read more

Very unorganized, unclean office. Set up like a DMV waiting room, and once in exam rooms used medical materials were open and on the floor. Had a 2pm appointment and was not taken back until 3:05pm. Once taken back, waited and did not see doctor & had to walk out at 4pm due to the extensive wait. Horrendous establishment, reported to OSHA/VDH. read more

Took my son to Spencer dental, they told me he had 3 cavities. Scheduled appointment for 2 weeks later, went to that appointment sat there an hour then they called me to the front desk to tell me that they could only fill one bc they don't have time to do all 3. So I got in an argument with the person and left. Called a new Pediatric dentist and went to that appointment for them to tell me my son does not have any cavities. I was like what!!!!! And the sad part is the first time I went to Spencer dental they told me my son had 7 cavities and I got 4 filled before covid. So did he really have cavities or did I just put my son threw pain for no reason. read more

On July 19, 2023, me and my daughter went in for her to get some work done on her mouth because she needed some fillings done but that didn't go according to plan. I was waiting for the paperwork for me to fill out, but I never was called up to get them so I went up there and this man said we didn't have her schedule for today even though they sent me a message plenty of times saying my daughter had an appointment on that EXACT day my daughter wasn't in the system and then he stated that her cleaning was canceled as well I refused to go off and give these unprofessional people my time & energy so I said I will reschedule. I called up there the next day and they won't have my daughter in until OCTOBER 31ST!!! which is ridiculous others might say," why won't you just go to another dentist" because it is not that simple been there done that and won't be doing it again I've been trying to get my daughter in for a regular dentist appointment ever since she got her braces taken off and I still can't seem to get her in until 4 months from now the issue with spencer dental is that y'all supposed to better yourself on renaming the building and having orthodontic in the building but it still giving off KOOL SMILES very unsanitary & unpleasant need to do better ASAP. Another thing I was informed about they were running low on staff which I am not surprised about they need to step up their damn game and get their shit in order or I will be contacting the cooperate and making a complaint. ONCE AGAIN! read more
