I will second the review from Liz H.!!!! RUN, do not walk away from this provider! This is a fact... The office staff is NOT checking or reviewing your benefits. IF you are told that a service is NOT covered and they give you an amount that is due up front, request the CPT code and call your insurance 1st, this goes for ANY provider! In our case, I am a Certified Professional Coder with 25+ years of experience. My husband paid upfront for the services and when we received our explanation of benefits, the Decompression services he received were NEVER billed, so I called our insurance company who stated yes in fact that S9090 is a covered service under our benefits. We arranged a meeting with the office, and requested they bill a corrected claim. 1st response was I don't know how to do that, and the insurance company usually responds better to the patient submitting the claim. Knowing better, I agreed. It took 2 weeks to get from them what they call a "Super Bill" that contains the diagnosis codes, place of service and the Tax ID I needed in order to submit the claim. The claim denied as I knew it would stating please have the provider bill a corrected claim. We called as relayed the message and they said they would let us know. 2 weeks later, we call to follow up and they state they will NOT bill a corrected claim because they will be charged by their billing company. I advised that I will be reporting to CMS and all of my other insurance contacts because this IS CONSIDERED fraudulent billing. The lady got extemely defensive and started arguing and I decided to hang up and just start the greivance process in which I have done with our insurance as well as CMS. I will be submitting my complaints to the rest the insurance companies' provider service reps once I am done posting here, lucky for us, I know them ALL because I was the Contract Variance Coordinator for Memorial Hospital not too long ago. This is extremely poor customer service, and God only know how many people they are screwing over! read more

I went to Spencer because I had Neuropathy in both my f eet. I had 16 sessions of the K Laser but came away very disappointed because I saw no relief . I spent $2562.00 for nothing. I did not see Dr. Spencer at all. I would think twice before I go to the Spencer clinic!!!! read more

RUN, do not walk from this provider. After watching the SPENCER CHIROPRACTIC infomercials on WLOX's 'Shop South MS', I gave it a go after a recent accident.. After signing a contract, & forking over $1600 (my insurance wasn't accepted), I left the practice just over halfway through the course of treatment. Why? First, there was never a treatment plan. When I asked for a plan, I was given brochures printed by the American Chiropractic Association. Dr. Sonya Spencer is not much of a communicator, and in fact may be the most disengaged medical professional I've ever dealt with. If you are her patient, you will spend very little time with her. The staff was pleasant enough. She had a 21-year-old physical therapy tech who was esp. compassionate.  Still, the infomercial seems to show an actual gym onsite, when it's more along the lines of an exam room with stretchy bands.  And less than a 10 minute "PT" session. Of REAL concern: The same young PT tech treated me with a cold laser directed at the heart and the brain, & under no supervision, though he was a new hire. Later, when I had a legitimate pain management MD, his shock & confusion at the heart-brain laser incident was sufficient that he mentioned telling that story at medical conferences. I should mention here that her adjustments offered no pain relief. Years ago, I'd seen a long-term chiro (now retired) in Gulfport who was both engaged & excellent at his profession. So I'm not anti-chiro. If you are a good consumer (i.e. work w/in a budget) consider this: (from the FAQs on her site) Q: How much does it cost for treatment? A: There is no set fee. We would need to see if you qualify and if you are a candidate first. Q: How many times do I need to come in? A: This question is answered after your initial testing is done and a thorough consultation is done. We cannot determine a treatment plan without this information. (An actual conversation with Dr. Spencer goes much like this as well) I know this is long, but I came away with no pain relief, or explanation, or apology, AND a whole lot poorer (live & learn). Don't buy into what you see on TV... those commercials are paid for by the client. My experience couldn't have been more different from the onscreen version. UPDATE: A thought...Re: Ultra Slim Technology Fat Removal, or "Lay here and lose!" Infomercial It's hard to avoid Spencer Chiropractic productions midday on WLOX, but you can catch it on her website too: http://www.spencerchiropractic.com/ultraslim/ Now you can lose those "bingo wings (saggy arms), thunder thighs" on your lunch hour! Let's address the elephant in the room. If it's indeed possible to just "lay here and lose" why doesn't Dr. Spencer take advantage of the extraordinary technology available right there in her very own office? It's even a little painful to watch when her technologist proclaims (at 3:58 on the video) that if "You have a double chin, we can treat that too!". Well, Dr. Spencer? FAVORITE MOMENT: Per protocol, they cover the breasts of woman patients "with a special cloth" because "who wants to lose weight there?" New medical terminology takeaway line: (what it is they do there) "Liberate the fat cells". But only the "dysmorphic fat." Now tell me again why the chiropractic profession doesn't get more respect? read more

I have been going here for some time now..6 years I think..time fly by fast. I started coming here due to a pinched nerve in the neck and shoulders, I didn't like the pain I was in and I hate taking any pills. I also have low back and hip areas that I have ignored for years. I was given a treatment plan and due to no insurance I use chirohealth and pay out of pocket for everything, payments are not high due to Chirohealth. Her plan took me away from pain and into what is known as maintenance. The staff is excellent as is my improvements from where I was when first coming here on day one. I think of coming here as my "me time" and this is one way I take care of myself so that I can help others as much as I do. I highly recommend Spencer Chiropractic to anyone in pain. read more

These guys worked on me for months, with little relief, and in actuality could have crippled me. They provided services I didn't really need, reified their own existence, and are trying to gouge my insurance after the fact...refusing to provide justification for the treatment. Good luck! read more

New patient appt today! I waited in pain for almost a week. Decided to give them a try this morning! I was met by Crystal. She was rude, condescending, unprofessional. and smug! It first started with discussing my primary insurance. I have two insurances plans. She was unhappy that I didn't know which one was my primary insurance company. So I guess I should add lazy to my description of Crystal. That's her job not mine. I give her both cards with HSA card but left my drivers license in a different pair of pants. She smugly informed me that I could not be seen without but went on to tell me if I had someone at home, they could send her a picture of the ID. Are you kidding me? She lost Spencer Chiropractic thousands of dollars in revenue which I could tell didn't matter to her. I could have paid cash for treatment BTW. She is the type of person that has a little authority and likes to flaunt it. I have been in pain and she asked no questions about my well being. read more
