He then offered to stop by and take a look at the lock to assess. Arrived within 5 minutes & after some serious work and determination, he ended up fixing the issue! This is a business owner that is passionate about their craft. While troubleshooting, he gave a few options of things I can do to prevent the lock from jamming again. I like the fact that he called to tell me he was on his way and the time it would take to get to my house. This was important because a friend offered to drive from a great distance to sit with me until a locksmith arrived but with a short ETA, it wasn't necessary (saved my friend time and gas). Russel was friendly and worked quickly on that rainy evening to replace the lock on my security door. Unfortunately, because the lock was a deadbolt he had to drill through the key hole to remove the entire unit. Although a bit expensive, I'm very happy with the quality of service received from Jefferson Locksmith from the time I placed my call up until the end of the service call and I highly recommend them. Had some email communication ahead of calling them to replace locks on new house. Was quoted $165…read moreover the phone with the caveat that it would be dependent on the door, lock, etc. Photos were sent ahead of time. I was assured $165 was a close ballpark figure. Showed up on time a few days later with a lock I didn't pick out, beyond the color (black), but didn't mind how it looked; it was fine. Replaced the lock and was charged OVER DOUBLE the price ($380). The locksmith was very nice but the work was done, so what was I going to do? I told him I was quoted closer to $200 and he said I had been communicating with his mom, and it was her call. Also, black locks were more expensive, apparently. I will take responsibility for not confirming the amount before the work was being done but I felt totally taken advantage of. The process of moving is stressful (and expensive!) as it is. Was very happy to call a small, family owned business but this was a terrible feeling and was completely price gouged. Two stars because it's been a few months and the lock is working just as expected.
