I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service provided by your locksmith on Tuesday, August 6th. This person(I think his name is Eddie) had previously rekeyed the locks in my house, and I remember paying him what he asked for. However, my recent experience has left me feeling disappointed & cheated.
We returned home from a vacation and realized we had misplaced the keys to the door connecting our garage to the house. At 2:30 AM, I called this gentleman, as he had assured me that I could call him anytime, 24 hours a day, for any help. He informed me that it would cost $175 due to the late hour, and I agreed.
He arrived at my house around 3 AM and first attempted to open the front door but was unsuccessful. He then moved to the door in question (in the garage) and forced it open with two screwdrivers. At that moment, I felt that $175 was an exorbitant fee for simply forcing a door open, something I could have done myself. I expected a locksmith to open the lock professionally, not force the door open. However, I let it pass and paid him the money since it was late at night. He made additional comments along the lines of, 'You have a home and cars, so why can't you pay this?' I found this offensive but chose to overlook it.
The next day, when I opened the door in the garage, the knob, which had been forced open, came loose and fell on the floor. I was initially surprised but quickly realized it was likely due to the locksmith's rough handling with the screwdrivers. Although this could have been checked for accuracy the previous night, everyone was tired, and he wanted to leave. Nevertheless, I gave him the benefit of the doubt and called him to explain the situation and ask if he could come and fix it. It was less than 24 hours since the service, and for the price I paid, I expected a job well done.
This is where the real issue began. He became defensive, stating, "This isn't my fault. You wanted the door opened; it doesn't matter how I did it, I opened it." He then claimed, "The lock was probably defective and hence it broke," and finally, "I don't see why I should come and do it." I tried to reason with him and even brought him on a FaceTime call so he could show me how to fix it while I did the work myself. Honestly, I don't see why I should be doing this in the first place. During the call, he started explaining but then went off on a tangent, saying, "It looks like your lock is broken and needs to be replaced." This is a Kwikset lock and is not broken; it fell off due to his poor workmanship. Midway through trying to work it out, he hung up and has since been unresponsive to my calls.
I initially thought he was a skilled professional, but my experience has been sour. Most times, it's the attitude that matters, and in him, I saw the attitude of someone looking to make a quick buck. I surely felt swindled.
I paid for a professional service and received subpar work and poor customer service.
I wouldn't go back to him read more
