We sat outside as it was a lovely morning with a great breeze. This is right on the corner next to the veterans park and across the street from the post office. When I ordered a salad, an employee immediately informed me that the poppyseed dressing contained dairy and helped me switch to a vinaigrette. I discovered it after I had already begun eating. For someone with a food allergy, that is not a minor mistake. It is a serious food safety issue that could result in a medical emergency. When I brought the mistake to the staff's attention, I was shocked by the response. Instead of receiving a sincere apology, concern for my safety, or an offer to replace the meal or issue a refund, the response was dismissive. The explanation given was that the employee thought the sandwich modifications were for my husband rather than for me. Food allergies should never be treated casually. Customers trust restaurants to take allergy warnings seriously, especially after being informed multiple times.
