Honestly, this was a fun convenient store that made me question my first judgement. I probably wouldn't venture here at night alone, but during the day, it had all of the things we needed: paper towels, ice, and some snacks. Nothing special about Big Daddy's, except maybe the name, and the Christmas decor on the outside, but it did meet our needs on this Sunday afternoon in Beaufort.

As an Italian American, food has always meant more to me than a good meal. It's how we celebrate, connect, and make people feel at home. So when I moved to a small Southern town, I wondered whether I'd find a restaurant that felt like my kind of place. From the moment I walked into Beaufort Grocery, I knew I had. Over the past four and a half years, they've welcomed us with open arms, greeted us with kisses on the cheek, remembered my drink, surprised me with my favorite dessert on my birthday, and treated us on our anniversary. Those moments mean so much. What I love most is the way the staff cares for one another and extends that same warmth to everyone who walks through the door. The food is spectacular, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the people are truly special. Beaufort Grocery is a little slice of heaven in my Hallmark movie town. I'm so grateful I found it, and even more grateful to call the people there my found family.

Since it's mid-August, we happily chose to wait for a table inside rather than brave the heat. While we waited, we hung out in the bar area. It's small but really cute and inviting, with a ton of fun drink options. I'm pregnant, so I went with one of their mocktails, and it was delicious! The food was absolutely worth the wait. The portions are HUGE, everything was cooked perfectly, and the pricing felt very reasonable for the amount and quality of food you get. Seating inside is definitely a little tight, but that's really the only downside we found. Overall, we had a great experience and honestly didn't mind the wait at all. If there's a line when you get there, I'd say stick it out, the brunch is worth it!
