Unfortunately this is the closest local store that I can go to since I dont drive, yet, but weather permitted I will ride my bike to a further store. It was a wonderland for curious readers. It gives me no pleasure to report that the Worldwide News of today is not even a shadow of what it once was. The parking lot and structure are still there, but both appear to be frequented more by the down and out than by lovers of the written word. Less than 20% of the store is still devoted to the display of newspapers, magazines, or paperbacks. Approximately half of the store is empty or functioning as storage space for non-used display racks, while the balance is devoted to tables and convenience foods. It's just sad. There is one draw to be found onsite, however: a giant mural facing the parking lot depicting "sleeping bears." Ironically, due in no small part to the ambience created by the store, to many people the image suggested is one of copulating rodents. (See photo)

This business recently opened after being closed for awhile. It's been open for a few months…read moreapproximately. I stopped by and spoke with the owner and chatted briefly with him. He explained to me that he had recently taken over and had big plans. At this location is also a laundromat which he owns. In the store he plans to expand it and put cooking facilities in to prepare hot foods, subs, etc.. He currently has pre-made sandwiches and snacks. He also sells cold drinks, beer, soda. milk, cigarettes and lottery tickets. There is ample parking I may add to accommodate the store and the laundromat. One thing of interest which he told me is that his father now owns the 7-11 just 1 block away and is currently under renovation.
