I…read moreremember many years ago when I was in real estate sales I use to live in the mini-mansion directly across the street. This building, now a store, was once a gas station. Since then, as many gas stations have, its been converted to a store. This store is like so many others here in the city. It sells basic needs. Beer, milk, soda, bread, toiletries, cigarettes, and of course lottery and gas. The stores hours are from 6 to 10 Monday through Saturday, and Sunday 7 to 10. The owner and employees are from India. Now my husband kept on seeing this in the area and thought we should give it a shot. Ok I'm game so we went in got an eight piece of mixed white and dark meat and a few biscuits. They also have other sides like Mac & Cheese, Mashed Potatoes, Beans, Fries, Chicken Tenders, you can get all white meat chicken. I guess the deal is that it has a light cajun hit of spice. It's inside of a gas station store so if you need other things and gas it's one stop shopping. It's over by the Monroe/Goodman Walgreens. The guys who were working when we came in were nice and rather helpful. We are guessing they own the gas station and etc. I'm always down to support local. The inside is large and tidy enough hey it's a gas station store. 2) So how's the Chicken Ok.. listen I loves me some good fried chicken, this is a chain so... It's tasty, it's got a pretty good crust and a light and slight kick. If you don't like spice I really think you would be happy with this. When I first started eating it I felt it needed some seasoning but as I ate more it finally emerged. I guess they do some flavor injecting prior to the whole process. We brought it home and ate it later, I gave it a few minutes in the microwave and it was still crispy and the chicken was tasty, had flavor and honestly it was not a salt lick. . I think I'd get it again. The biscuits were almost more of a corn bread type of thing so it was kind of one note. In all honesty I'd just get the chicken and that's it. Now I am sure you are like girl Fried Chicken at a Gas Station I know, I know. But it was good, yea it's not KFC (and that hella salty), Popeyes (delicious but can't seem to find one around here open) or local Chick'n Out Roc (always tasty & delicious) But here's the deal you can come in and get chicken, it's ready and you are not waiting 20-30 minutes for an eight piece. Price is comparable to national chains so.. but give it a whirl, get yourself a few pieces and go from that point. I have no idea what the other locations are like at other gas stations. Dont get me wrong I understand it may cost them. But come on. .50 cents plus state tax AND the tax they charge 55cents. For a 99cents a black and mild Jazz at the store is $1.55? I'm sorry, there is no way that's legal. Anything bought under $5 on debit has a 55cent tax. I use debit and credit cards everywhere and I've NEVER been charged so much. I've seen them charge customers different prices higher prices than what's posted. Most of the items dont have pricing on the so they can charge you 100-400% more. Unfortunately this is the closest local store that I can go to since I dont drive, yet, but weather permitted I will ride my bike to a further store. They have a lot of unhappy customers which is probably why one of their window was smashed out .....I DO NOT CONDONE VIOLENCE OR DAMAGING SOMEONE PROPERTY AT ALL, but I guess karma is a bitch after all.
