This place could use a friendlier bartender! Stopped in with some friends at 9:30 pm to an empty bar. We tried to be friendly with the bartender but it was obvious she preferred to not have customers and just play on her laptop. We had a couple drinks and wanted a 3rd but She informed us she had worked 13 hrs already and wanted to close at 11 pm! We tipped good despite her nasty personality. Ohhhh Terry the owner of this place with an "I hate everybody" personality . Works in the service industry and is rude to every single customer that walks through the door. I've been here several times and it's always just terry, lonely terry and she doesn't change, just hates life and hates serving people. Can we do a frozen pizza? "No" . Put a 20 in the pull tabs , got stuck and she says "maybe if you didn't bring flimsy money" (the money couldn't have been more crispy). Can you turn up the music a bit? "No, the volume stays". It's honestly comical which has kept us coming back to see what other one liners she can throw out there. Stopping here on Sat night was a mistake. The woman bartender was pissed our group of 7 was there, and was visibly upset when we gave our order. We asked if they had bottles or cans of beer instead of the tap, this seemed to set her off. She scolded our group for asking. Upon ordering a tap beer, she poured it and slammed it down on the bar in front of me. I was thinking this was a joke. She then states to our group " Who's paying for these, I dont see anyone pulling out money" My friend asked her if she was "Ok", and she replied "No!" In his face. Later, we begrudgingly asked her if she would take our group photo, where she replied "No" She clearly didnt want our business last night. The only silver lining to yesterdays visit, was that our group had a story to laugh about at the next bar, reliving how badly she treated us. This bartender is clearly going through a midlife crisis or is a recovering narcotics addict going through withdrawals. Either way, we now know never to return here. Popped into get a quick break from shopping and a cold new Glarus spotted cow. The bar had 5 other customers and we were all happy to look out at sleet and rain during our extended winters and springs as well. The bartender was very nice, they had plenty of TVs. Seats were comfortable. read more

There are some hole in the wall bars that have charm and character.. then there's the speedway inn. Just a hole in the wall. The bartender was so uncomfortable and awkward and didn't want understand what I was trying to order. Plus it took her 10 minutes to even come to the bar after our group came in. This owner has seemingly given up on the business and has provided a very cold and unwelcoming environment. She has willfully turned town business on more than one occasion, including when my family stepped in for a drink. This place is easy to overlook. I drove around for 45 minutes trying to find anything but a Friday's or Applebee's for a beer. Brookfield is about as strip mall suburban chain as it gets. But, I was on a mission which I firmly succeeded at. I could have walked here from my hotel if it were not for the mile of knee deep snow (I'm pretty sure it was up hill both ways too) between me and warmth. Hey I'm from Atlanta give me a break.. Nothing fancy about this place but the logo on the sign out front. Very small place with a couple pool tables, big screen TV and some video machines. Full of local flavor though. The late owner who passed away last year was an open wheel racer, hence the name and theme. I went on a Tuesday night and was kind of slow but a very friendly bartender. And a very friendly bar dog, who happens to like vodka waters if you're buying a round. If your searching for the unique in the land of strip mall clones stop in for a drink or five. They had 6 beers on tap including two locals and then the standard American pulls. Reasonably priced at $3.25 a pull. Has a menu on the wall of fried things and burgers but didn't try any. read more

My kinda dive bar! After a horrible experience at Bullwinkle's (down the street), we happily stumbled upon Speedway. The was one nice bartender behind the bar and us. Lots of tv, liquor selection and game machines. At 11am the place was dark, inside and a little bit outside. Plenty of parking around the building. Tip: $10 minimum for cards. I would give a negative stats for today experience if I could based on the owner is so snippy but have been here 6 other times and had a blast. We stopped earlier in the day and she seemed friendly enough. We decided to stop later and first we called to see how late they would be open and she snapped at me and hung up. Still figured we would stop and she is obviously overtired and hates her job cuz she makes you nervous to order a drink or ask for anything. My family and I stopped in after dinner for a quick few drinks. As soon as we walked in the bartenders attitude (blonde lady) completely turned us off. She was quick to ask for a card before we even ordered our drinks and when someone with us said he had cash, she had an attitude and told him to put it on the bar with said attitude. What? Did she think we weren't going to pay? On top of that when asked how much pool was, she seemed annoyed and answered with "four quarters which is a dollar" in such a rude way, like we didn't know what four quarters equaled. When we wanted to pay for more drinks she informed us that we could not pay with bills bigger than 10's. Which is absolutely ridiculous. When you have an atm that gives 20's in your bar what do you expect. I am sorry to the bartender who we clearly annoyed with our service. I know I won't be going back anytime soon.... read more

So this place seems like it would be a fun little dive bar. It really would be except for the wretched hag behind the bar the evening of 5/29/15. We strolled in and ordered a round of drinks and after serving us she stood there and stated at us. What's next? Well, maybe the total or...want to run a tab...nope. Uncomfortable right off the bat. We paid and sipped our drinks. Then another couple came in and ordered drinks and she schooled them on how to order, "you need to learn how to order a drink!" To the customer. He ordered his drink the right way...she didn't make it the right way. we ordered another beer and she just stood there staring at my brother in law. Ok, he drinks his last sip and she grabs his mug and fills it up. She was so outright rude to us and the other patrons we were uncomfortable (and everyone in our party is or has been a bartender).
