I am writing this review today to give praise to the retention specialist Monea in the Carolinas for giving me good reason to stay with Charter / Spectrum communications. I have been a loyal customer of Charter Internet for over 15 years and have on several occasions considered to move to AT&T or a different ISP. On my most recent attempt to cancel my Internet services with Charter communications, I spoke with Monea who was able to effectively communicate the reasons why I should stay with Spectrum. She was polite, professional, and very kind and patient throughout the whole ordeal. I want to give high praise and a 5 star review to Spectrum for their excellent customer service and service overall. Monea is a true keeper. My wife and I are buying a new home and needed internet and cable service. We checked on Spectrum's website and it said they could provide service. We called, placed an order for the day after we close on the purchase, and thought everything was ok. Unfortunately, a few days later we get a call from Spectrum Construction Support to let us know that they can't provide service to us due to an easement issue. They said they would have someone call us, but no one did. A day later we received an order cancellation email. Now we need to find an alternate TV and internet service provider. The speed and stability were fine but overpriced compared to other providers. Spectrum will give you a decent price at the start and then raise your costs higher and higher as time goes on. Other providers will work with you to lower the cost; Spectrum would rather just lose you as a customer. I went from around $40 to $95 and they said that was as cheap as they could go even if I cut my speeds down significantly. I told them I would find an alternative (which I did at half the price) they didn't care. They also didn't cancel my service when I called them, and I wound up having to pay a full month for service I didn't use. According to them, it was a valid charge. Terrible, intermittent internet service . First complained in June 2024. Repeated calls and chats over the past year. Service tech came out today and said a wire was loose and un crimped from installation a year ago and that was the issue. Tech left and issue continued. Tried to get an accommodation for the lack of service on my last bill and was told I could get $10 off but that the supervisor may be able to offer me 20 when I spoke to the supervisor not only the document with the $20 they refused to give me the $10 the service agent first offered me. **This review is only for the location, not any Spectrum services** This Spectrum location is situated inside of Smyrna Market Village on Atlanta Road. Given its location, parking is plentiful with either the spots lining the front and side of the shops or the lots located behind each building. So, I'm short...you gonna find you a parking spot! This isn't a massive store, it's very small and features a 2 person counter, payment kiosk, one high top table and a cellphone/accessory wall. While it's small, it is also well kept, clean and free of clutter. Service was great here. When I entered, the staff was assisting another customer, however they greeted me right when I walked in and let me know they would be with me shortly. It didn't take long as another associate came from the back and started helping me. I was inquiring into the services and prices, the associate was super helpful, patient and kind throughout the interaction. She made sure to give me all information necessary, while also ensuring she asked what I need services for, how many folks would be using them, etc...I appreciated this so we didn't waste time talking about things not needed. Overall, my visit to the store was a positive experience. When and if I decide to switch to Spectrum, I will visit this location to complete the switch. read more

Called them back 25 mins later after I got the email I was promised and the 29.97 a month plus 7.00 for Wi-Fi turned into 204.96. WTF. I canceled service on February 1st. Spectrum billed me for service for the entire month of February. They said "it is their policy to bill an entire month for the month of disconnection". I said it is my policy not to pay for service that is not received. They will not prorate the bill.......and they did not inform me when I disconnected the service that this is their policy. Just dropped my Spectrum internet for AT&T fiber optic gig service. They ran a new line to my neighborhood and I am the first fiber customer. Better pricing than Spectrum DSL and full gig fiber optic compared to 300mbs DSL with Spectrum's cheapest package. No outages, no lagging streaming videos or TV or games, on multiple devices. The best part, all junk and spam email stopped when I switched my Charter email account to Gmail. Spectrum has a so-called email filter to eliminate junk and spam email and will allegedly investigate any spam or junk you forward to them. I set the filter and forwarded junk and spam to Spectrum security team for several years. Guess what happened: for every junk and spam email I report, I get twenty junk and spam emails in addition to repeat emails from the senders I reported. To sum up, better and fast internet for less money, no corporate-greed unnecessary price hikes, no contract, no junk or spam emails, and no Spectrum BS. read more

I am extremely disappointed with Spectrum. Last month, my bill increased and I called to ask why. The customer service representative issued me a credit of $75 and told me what I needed to pay. She told me the charge was done in error. When I received the bill it had $75 on the bill plus a late charge. After talking with Justin (customer service), Justin (lead) and Jay (supervisor) they didn't remove the entire $75 but removed the later fee and additional charge. I am upset because I specially ask the customer service representative if I pay what see told me to pay could that make my current and she told me , "yes." The only reason I got my internet service from them is that they are the only provider for my apartment (which again is something illegal and there might be some going on between the community managers and the spectrum). Once they have your money they do not care. My bill kept going up & I called on the phone to get it reduced which they did that day. However, since they bill a month in advance they do not prorate & they did not inform me of this. I've spent so much time on the phone, chat & they refused to give an email address. One representative told me to go to the store with my printed documents. I did that & they could not help me. They dialed the phone for me & I got a nasty supervisor just like the ones before. They don't care. Once they have your money. The rep said even one day into the cycle & you need to close the account, they are keeping everything. I hope I can find a new provider soon. This review is for this location only. I say that because the company Spectrum would get a much lower rating!! My internet was not working for several days. Every time I called there was a message indicating that there was an outage in my area. This took place for 2 days. When a tech attempted to assist me, he told me that my modem was online so my issue must ge with my router. I purchased a new router only to discover I was still unable to get online. I decided to try plugging my laptop directly into the modem. To my surprise, I did not have any service. As such, the spectrum modem was the actual problem. When I called back, after spending another 20 minutes trying to get the modem up I was told a tech would have to come out. At this point, I am pissed. I asked if I could just go pick a modem up. The rep advised that I could and the store would be open until 8pm. Something told me to verify that. When I looked online this stores posted hours indicated they closed at 6pm. As such, I had to go without internet service for another day. I finally made my way to this store. It is easy to locate. It is in the Smyrna village towards the back. The staff immediately greeted me when I walked in. They were busy assisting other customers but assured me they would be with me soon. I waited about 10 minutes before I was assisted. The gentleman who helped me provided stellar customer service. He looked my account up and provided me with a new box and instructions to go with it. The interaction was quick, yet efficient. If only my service could come close to the customer service I received in store. read more

After a decade of paying AT&T for U-Verse TV/Internet at escalating rates of close to $200 a month for 50MB internet and U-200, I decided to "risk" it all and sign up with Spectrum to take them up on their offer of $39 Internet at 400MB and TV Silver. These folks called before they came, did a good job installing a new drop, set up three TV boxes the way I wanted them, and left me with getting a consistent 450MB down (paying only for 400MB). Hasn't gone down once. Their TV is far superior to the highly compressed so-called HD I put up with from AT&T for all those years, which was pixelated and blotchy. The biggest surprise was the first bill. I thought I was being punked. Why? Because it was dead on accurate to what the initial estimate was supposed to be. I decided to move my iPhone and iPad Pro from T-Mobile who I was paying $85 a month for the privilege of using a network that, thanks to Sprint customers being thrust upon it over the past few weeks, had become unreliable and slow data wise but not even fit for phone calls without people saying "what did you say, repeat that? you're breaking up". This is where a small issue occurred with Spectrum, and it was more of a FedEX problem, who botched the delivery of SIM cards. This is where the people at this Spectrum store really go out of their way. Maria is a GEM and got it squared away, as did her boss. These are GREAT people. Furthermore, someone named "Sam" from their Spectrum Mobile executive office called to ensure that I was able to activate my phones. Again, I thought I was dreaming or being punked (in a good way) because this has NEVER happened to me. I now cut my cellphone bill from $85 to $60 a month and Spectrum uses Verizon's network, so gone are the issues with call drops and audio cutouts, and slow data. I actually got to talk on the phone for a full two hours inside my house without having to hang up and call back. I was very hesitant to sign up as I had Charter back in 2007/2008 for cable TV and had lots of issues and that's when I moved to AT&T when U-Verse became available. Apparently, Spectrum cleaned up the issues and I have been duly impressed with the consistent Internet speeds, reliability of the connection, and their TV is superb at least compared to AT&T's now orphaned U-Verse. As AT&T refuses to put aerial fiber in this neighborhood, one can either suffer with their "ancient phone wires" that can barely support 2005 era internet speeds, let alone AT&T streaming TV, or good luck getting DirecTV- I can't because of tree cover. I would say my Spectrum experience has been excellent so far and will report back in 6 months or so. I sure am paying a lot less and getting 10 times more Internet speed (literally 10 times more) at half the price. The people at this location make this company look good. Spectrum sucks. I WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS!! Internet is always down and as for the channels they provide (HALF OF THEM HAVE LOCKS ON IT) which means you have to pay extra, their fight with Disney did help as today channels 81, 82, 84, 70, 71, 60, 61, 21 are all missing on the Guide. Their internet totally sucks. I used to pay a lot lower on my bill. And now they have stupid reasons to charge more that don't make sense. We went into Spectrum today to return (2) cable boxes. Tyrice lollis - store manager was excellent. He worked to help us lower our internet bills. We didn't even ask him to look at our account. He wanted to see what he could do for us. We did wait about 30 minutes for service. Two employees were out for surgery, one on their way to a funeral and one on maturity leave. Tyrice was also training a new employee - having to help him with his customers as well as his own. Tyrice was so calm and patient with every customer. Thank you Tyrice. read more

I was quite surprised to see such negative reviews for charter. I recently canceled my internet service with them, because I was moving out of their service area, and overall I would say the customer service was great and the actual internet service was quite reliable. My one criticism is that signing up and getting a reliable price with charter was a massive pain, however after I was a customer Charter forgave me when I forgot to pay one month (no fee), honored their if we cancel or don't show up policy we will give you $30 off (twice) and the cancellation fee for me breaking the contract 6 months early was less than one months service(I think they are sending me a check for $1). Given my experience with other providers like Dish and Comcast, I would say that dealing with Charter was actually pleasant. The only service issue I had was due to a bad connector on my building, which is old and poorly managed. Charter cancelled the first time because they had to deal with a major outage in my area and assumed it was that, then on the new appointment they were an hour late. I got $60 off my bill which was almost two months. I was neither not charged a penalty nor had my service interrupted for forgetting to pay the first month. I also think they forgot to charge me for equipment rental. Pros: Professionalism of customer service, quality, billing practices. (unbelievable but true) Cons: Endless junk mail about their triple play(same type of thing as Comcast), bad sales people, I have to drive to their store in Smyrna to return the router i rented from them. Given how cable works in Atlanta you likely have a choice between a cable provider, Dish networks, Direct TV, maybe Clearwire if you are creative. I can't speak for Clearwire or Direct TV since i have never used their services. I have used Dish and will warn you in the strongest possible terms NEVER sign a contract with them. The service is crap, they are unprofessional, and their billing practices are unethical. I think Charter or Comcast is you are in their area are much better options. read more

Charter's customer service sucked from day one and they STOLE $40 from me. The installation dude was 4 hours late. They offered me a $20 credit for the inconvenience which wasn't bad, but what bothered me was that it apparently happens so often they had a name for the credit. When I canceled my service I, of course, had to return the equipment. Their closest local office is an hour round trip so I called to see if I could have a tech pick the equipment up when they were in the area. I was told "sure!" After 2 no-call-no-shows, I was ready to just drive the stuff to the local office but a tech randomly showed up at like 8 in the morning. He took my equipment and was about to leave without giving me a receipt. I asked him for one. He wrote some illegible note on a little piece of paper that said "I Kyle, picked up ....... " and some horrible signature. I had to ask him his last name because I couldn't read the note. This didn't sit well so I made sure to get his van number and license plate just in case something happened to the equipment. Sure enough it did. When I canceled I had paid for a month and was due to have $120 returned. When I called to see about the refund I was told the amount was $80. I inquired and they said they didn't receive their modem. But I had returned it and Kyle's little note said as much. The billing agent's response was that I drive to the local office and show them my "receipt." I told him I think I should at least call first to make sure they will accept the receipt before driving all that was. I was then told that the local office HAS NO PHONES and even he couldn't call them. I refused to drive an hour only to be told "this isn't a receipt, sorry." Anyways, after another month and about 3 hours on the phone, promises by "managers" that they would handle it only to never hear anything again. I just gave up on the $40 they STOLE from me. If I only get one person to choose AT&T over this unscrupulous company then I feel like I have won. read more

Everyone is friendly on the phone, but they offer services they don't know how to install or setup (cablecards/TA for Tivos). Service calls are always at their convenience even after multiple visits have failed to set things right. They aren't forthcoming about account fees, I've gotten surprise fees more than once that they should have notified me of, but didn't. I used to prefer friendly people to work with who will eventually get the job done but when it comes to cablecards, I wish they were competent rather than friendly. Once the service are setup properly (TV/internet/phone) it's been stable for me but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle anymore. read more

Lightning-fast and pretty cheap IF you call them every 6-12 months and threaten to quit and they will put you back in a promotional package. So why am I rating them one star and canceling their service? Because they cant keep my internet service up. It goes down multiple times a night, we have logged 15 service tickets in the last 3 months, and they continue to send the same basic techs out over and over again to check the same 5 things. Hey wait a minute... is it possible its not one of those 5 things? Not in the mind of charter... they seem to have no one capable of resolving a problem that doesnt get resolved by swapping a cable modem. We have had counless connectivity problems over the last 5 years with some periods of uptime but I just cant have my connection going down for 10 to 20 minute periods a night when I am trying to get work done. Have gotten the corp twitter people involved but that doesnt help. Even went up to the office on saturday and asked that the branch manager call me. The lady at the front desk was very nice and took my number down. No call 4 weeks later. We tried and tried. There is no other service in the area that is anywhere near this speed but at the end of the day, its just not worth it. Maybe one day they will wake up and realize that there are more complex issues out there that swapping a modem wont solve and that their escalation process is incapable of solving. Charter has to be the absolute worst company to deal with. Unfortunately they are the only real player in the area where I live. I have their Ultra plan which is supposed to give me about 400 MB down and 20MB up. I have consistently received 20.6MB down and 20.6MB up. After numerous calls to tech support and three technicians coming out to look at my service, the best I can get is the speeds I'm expected for 24 hours before they go back to 20.6 down and 20.6 up. Couple this with having replaced two different routers that were supposedly "defective" and a billing department that can't modify my bill because apparently only tech support is the one who can give credits for shitty service. At this point, I would rather have comcast internet. Both their support and internet are at minimum more reliable than anything charter has to offer. read more

I have been trying to get my Internet installed as a new customer since Monday. My original appointment was set for Wednesday (yesterday) I got text confirmations everyday yet no technician ever showed up. Today I've been dealing with them since 7am and can't get a straight answer about why my internet not installed yet. First customer service rep tried to tell me I never had an appointment set up. Then a supervisor told me it was canceled on Monday due to an error in my work order which was fixed and new assortment was set. 20 minutes later I get a call saying that appointment was canceled cause I have to prepay for the service. First I've heard of this do they said they got approval to waive that fee. Then another rep calls saying I have to pay or no technician will come. I asked for a supervisor and told one would call me back in 2hrs. I waited 5hrs and called back. Now my address isn't showing up so a special ticket put in and I should hear back in 24hrs. Hello I called Spectrum Mobile to do an upgrade on my phone, when I called I advised the representative that my address has changed I provided him with my new address as well as with my permanent address prior to placing the order. Well come to find out the Spectrum Mobile representative actually sent my phone to the wrong address in NC, when I tried to call them to let them know that the phone was being sent to wrong address they told me "don't worry about it, we'll do a RTS-return to sender and you WILL NOT be responsible for the phone. Well first of all they took my money that I paid for the device to have it shipped out, that they sent to the wrong address, on top of that they refused to send me a phone to the correct address, they are also charging me the monthly installments for the new phone that I never received that I have not activate and they're telling me that the ONLY way that I can get a refund or remove these charges from my account or have a new phone sent out is if I provide them with a POLICE REPORT!!!!! So with that being said I asked them to provide me with the policy stating that when SPECTRUM MOBILE drops the ball does the CUSTOMER has to provide them with a POLICE REPORT. I was told they would have someone from the " back office" email that policy to me....... it's been 3 days and NOTHING. They sent the phone to the wrong address in NC, I'm currently in GA due to my son's girlfriend is having my first grand baby and they will not REFUND ME, nor SEND A PHONE TO CORRECT ADDRESS or REMOVE INSTALLMENT CHARGES after taking my money!!! How can I fix this situation with this company?? Also I recorded several of the conversations for my records and I have several emails to back me up. As well as I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General in that state. I'm trying to take the right steps but it's so frustrating CS is NIT what it used to be!!!!
